I think one of the issues is everybody else you cook for or eat with. Hubby got semi used to restricting salt when I was the chef.. but "accidentally" forgot about it when he cooked.

How have you all handled that aspect?

I had a thought the other day . Perhaps we should not say we lost weight . but we gave it away to say lost sounds like we might find it again and we don`t want to do that again . as with everything we can get used to most things in time . . the problem is to stick to it for the entire lifetime .

It took me about a month to stop missing salt. I originally used No Salt (or one of the other brands) but now I just do without and don't even think about it.

Amazing how it takes a long time to get into a routine of doing something healthy, whether it be reducing salt, fat, excercising more, etc., vs the short amount of time it takes to get off track and back to the old ways.

Kind of why I keep losing the same 5-10 pounds. Takes time to go down, but seems like no time to go back up. You know: kind of like gas prices...

I really never use the salt shaker anymore, I do like cracked pepper though.

I can't even go into a Chinese restaurant. Everything is so high in sodium. I have noticed less and less people using a salt shaker. Hubby waits until I leave the room to add salt. Try all the spices you have ever loved. Lately my favorite is poultry seasoning mixed with curry powder. Pepper helps.. but there are lots of mixes.. I found a salt free seasoning at the dollar store that works on some foods.

I like to make mashed potatoes using low sodium vegetable broth. When they are done, I don't need anything else added to it.

WENT OUT AND ATE YESTERDAY, CHINESE. WATCHED EVERYONE DUMP SALT ON FOOD. THE FOOD WAS SALTY ENOUGH. THE ONLY THING I HAVE REALIZED THAT NEEDED SALT, WERE MASHED POTATOES. WITH NO SALT AND NO BUTTER, THEY ARE YUCK. I DID DUMP A BUNCH OF PEPPER ON THEM TO CHANGE THEIR COLOR.
