Sorry for a loss within the family Maewings. My condolences are sent to you.

Some of the items listed here sound good, just remember to watch convenience food items as they are spiced up with herbs and tons of salt. Also, be leary of meats like ham, as they have sodium lurking in them as well.

Here is a favorite of mine, as the carb and protein count are excelelnt. Though I play around with the ingredients to get just the right sodium count, by using fresh grated, low sodium parmesean cheese, rather than the powdered spaghetti style shake stuff and use a lower sodium cream cheese and wilt down and drain some fresh spinach, since salt is used as a preservative in some frozen and definitely canned ones. Plus, for all sodium sensitive individuals on here, remember to rinse your artichokes under running water in a sieve or collander to get even more salt off. Rinsing your veggies under running water for a few minutes can reduce the sodium count by 40%.

Anyhow, here is the link to a great tasting artichoke and spinach dip:

asp?

I like to dip celery and carrots into it and on occasion maybe a plain no salt added cracker.

The carb and protein stay pretty much the same in this recipe, though you can use light versions of the mayo and cream cheese in order to cut fat some.

I've just recently brought out my crockpot and failed already with one Banquet chicken and dumpling frozen meal I bought. It was way too spicy with the herbs for my kid to eat.

Although the first time I got it going, I placed cooked ham bits, round potatoes and green beans in it and that was pretty good.

My sister gave me a link to some crockpot recipes and with our recent death in the family to deal with, I haven't had time to really look into those.

But I do want to do more crockpot meals.

Who have you encouraged today?

Lavenderlily, I looked at some of the recipes in your Family's Healthy Recipes cookbook. There are some that I am definitely going to try, especially the tuna casserole recipe. Thank you!

Happy Friday to you!

Does anyone enjoy soups, casseroles, or healthy crockpot meals during the cooler months? I know I love this time of year. With a little planning, you can have a healthy, hearty meal that everyone enjoys.

Today's challenge is a RECIPE SWAP. What do you enjoy making during these cooler months that is healthy? Do you have a recipe to share? Do you have a link to a healthy recipe (whether on Spark Recipes or another site)? If possible, list nutritional information and number of servings the recipe makes.

Have a great Friday (and stay warm if you are in the cold part of the world)!
