Little by little, and it comes down to daily choices and weekly planning. Right now I'm realizing again how much harder this is when you eat at a pot luck, and the rest of the world rolls their eyes when you tell them that yes, those green beans were cooked in fat. Then they taste them and are amazed.

One cookie, one pie, one hamburger not eaten. Its a daily choice. We can do this!
I have had corn this go round, and lentils and oats. Busy schedule, and at least I'm able to hold it to 85 percent.

I can "feel" results already and see them in the mirror.

Goals:
If you want real results-they aren't coming for free.

I'm going to go off of Whole30. I've been doing it for close to 2 months, except for 4 days of eating out on vacation. I still ate as Whole30 as I could, but there was probably sugar in the bacon and the steak was probably cooked in canola oil and things like that. I'm planning some Paleo fish sticks on Friday, with either almond meal or ground pork rinds (and maybe some coconut flour). Whole30 says no Paleo knockoffs of regular stuff like Paleo pancakes or Paleo bread and so forth. Not sure whether that applies to breading, too, but I've been applying it. Then on Monday I'll probably add some dairy and see what happens. I'll probably stay close to Whole30, but I have some casseroles in the freezer that I put there last summer to use up the zucchini and eggplant and such, and they do have cheese on them.

Hope your Whole30 challenge is going well!

I only thougth today to see if their was a sparkteam for paleo. I decided to do it and have been since September 1.

I'm doing it from a food allergy elimination perspective rather than for weight loss. So far my results are that I haven't needed my advair inhaler and allergy meds now since labor day. And my albuterol puffer I pretty much only need when I wake up and before a workout.

As far as having any more energy I can't say that I can tell any difference. I did have some pretty wacko dreams the first few days of the diet, but I seem to be back to normal sleep patterns.

I'm restarting the the Whole30 again today. I got through 2 weeks of it last month then I had 3 cookouts in a row and by the 3rd one all of my will power was gone! But I've been sticking to mostly paleo these past few weeks, but I have about 8 more pounds to lose before my wedding in 33 days, so I'm back to the Whole30! I did lose 10 lbs in just the 2 weeks I first started the Whole30, so here's hoping that happens again! emoticon

I weighed and measured this am and right now I'm grilling chicken for lunch and dinner. My Mondays are pretty long.

I have maintained my weight for a while, and this first week back has helped with any extra pounds that were creeping up.

Working on planning/having whole 30 choices available and working out.

Tonight running and yoga, tomorrow trainer, and don't remember whats in store for wed.

Tomorrow is one week down. Pretty good here, my job has taken a lot of my free time, (isn't that usually how it goes when you start something new?) and September/October promise to be just as busy. I am not going to be able to post here every day, but will do my best.

I was not 100 percent. But I was 90 percent on food. I got rid of processed stuff/sugars and other things not on Whole 30 and I'm working on eating three meals a day.

This week my goal is 100 percent on food and three meals a day.

I am working with a trainer two days a week and it has been really good so far. Will do that this week and teach two yoga classes.

I am not doing Whole 30, but stopped by to see how you guys were doing! IGNAZIA and Leslie emoticon ! I quit a 20 year smoking habit (addiction) in June 2009 and I can tell you I would never go back!

SIMPLEMAW I broke myself of the sweet habit via Atkins years ago. I never bought into the artificial stuff really so I weaned myself. I started with sweet French Vanilla coffee creamer, went to half and half and a little sugar, then half and half with nothing, and then cream. Now I use coconut creamer, and don't even like the dairy anymore.

I'm lonely here! So many of you have said you were going to do a Whole30 in September. Is anyone else doing it? If so, how's it going for you?

Welcome, Diane!

I came to a Whole30 from eating low carb, so it's not a huge change for me. Mostly a matter of cutting out dairy and sweeteners, and the very occassional soy. And reading labels more closely. For low carb, I'm mostly interested in the total carbs and am ok with a tiny bit of sugar or grain or something like that. For Whole30, of course, even those tiny little bits are out.

The biggest problem I have had is with my tea. I usually drink a cup of tea (either herbal or regular decaf) with cream and splenda every morning and every evening. I put some plain unflavored gelatin in it, which is supposed to help with joint pain and help you sleep better. Since I couldn't do the cream or sweetener while on the Whole30, I switched to drinking a cup of homemade bone broth with gelatin and coconut milk in the morning and at night. It's good, but it's not the same.

I've been doing the Whole30 since (I think) July 20 or thereabouts, except for 4 days of vacation and eating in restaurants. I did the best I could there, but I'm sure there was sugar in the bacon, the steak was cooked in canola oil, etc. I had my herbal tea in the morning with a cinnamon stick, and it was ok, sort of. Not good, but drinkable. Last night I tried a cup of my herbal tea (cinnamon flavor) with a cinnamon stick and coconut milk and gelatin and it was quite acceptable. Not as good as with whole cream and splenda, but not bad at all. I think I have my new morning and evening beverage!

How's it going for the rest of you?

How's it going for everyone? Some of you were starting on the first and some on the 4th and I think some even a few days before that.

I had great plans to start Paleo/Whole30 on the first, but it really looks it'll be tomorrow (day after Labor Day). Food was purchased today, chopped, bagged, etc. for the week. Started back on exercuse yesterday (9/2)--how can I be sore from cardio?! Of course, it was Tabata drills, but still.

Also, congrats to both IGNAZIA & LESLIEJEAN43 on working to kick the smoking habit!

emoticon IGNAZIA on quitting smoking!
I had quit August 4, using the patch, but I became allergic to the adhesive and had to switch to the inhaler. I had a relapse for a few days after losing the patch - it had been my 'shield of armour', but as of September 1, I am back on track with not smoking.

Hugs, Leslie emoticon

I think the more the merrier. My two biggest issues are failing to plan/get the food needed and have it ready and discouragement because I don't really have anyone close to me that cares. I'm hoping that the trainer will be an encouragement to stay focused.

May I join, too? I did a Whole30 from about 7/20 to 8/23 (a Whole33, actually), then went on vacation for 4 days. Stayed as Paleo as I could, but I'm sure there was sugar in the bacon, that the steak was cooked in canola oil, etc. So it wasn't a totally strict Whole30 diet. Went back on Whole30 when I got home last Tuesday and plan to stick with it for at least the next couple of weeks. I haven't tried adding dairy and sweeteners back and want to get totally clean again before that experiment.

Awesome! I start with trainer tomorrow. And I've been running some. My biggie is I was a weekend smoker, (terrible I know) and I have quit for good. (on 23, Wed. will be two weeks) Even at a pack a week, its a tough habit to break and I have terrible whiny withdrawal.

I'm back on Whole30 in the morning, have been working on eating three meals a day, and finding my positive energy.

This afternoon, grocery store, family cookout and getting ready for work week.

I'm starting another Paleo 30 Challenge on the 1st. I'm starting the 8-week RushFit GSP workout plan starting that day as well. I have to get back into exercising on a consistent basis before I get a Crossfit trainer.

I'm going to do a "whole 30" starting Sep. 4. I've hired a personal trainer, because I do better with fitness goals if I have a buddy and no one I know is as into it as I am.

Anyone else wanna do it? I'm going to work on eating three meals a day. Since it got so hot this summer, I eat "mostly paleo" but not enough, sometimes just once a day and I need more food.
