Day 9: Breakfast - Veggie scramble with egg, HB egg, lunch - salad, walnuts, pecans, and swiss chard (took fish but it was too old), Dinner - Grilled chicken breast, broccoli, cauliflower, squash. Up a little over 900 calories - better than I have been lately!

Yum, but as much as I would like to, pizza isn't for me unless it is gluten free.

Sounds like a great day! I am having leftovers for breakfast-baked chicken leg with skin and huge pile of kale greens:)

I cheated last night for the first time in 3 weeks (since I started). My husband insisted on ordering pizza-my very favorite meal. So, I decided it was worth it and ate 2 pieces and a glass of red wine. It was fabulous but it didn't make me want to go back to eating like that all the time. No guilt this morning since I made an informed decision to indulge and am right back on plan.

Did better on Day 8: Breakfast 3.5 cups of green beans with slivered almonds and clarified butter, egg and sausage scramble, with a snack later of chicken: lunch (not hungry), dinner was half a thick strip steak, salad, and steamed cauliflower.

Worked out at the gym for 45 minutes.

Wow! there are certainly times I am not hungry but I think "it's lunchtime and I need to eat." So, I grab some protein and a veggie. I don't even track my food because I only eat on plan so I eat til I am full. I really eat a lot though. I do take a multivitamin and have for years. I would try to at least eat 3-4 ounces of protein at a meal. Maybe increase it to 2 eggs for breakfast and a whole piece of fish if you have fish. I do stay full most of the time except for mealtimes so I find I snack a lot less.

I was thinking the same thing about DAKOTA106.

I hope DAKOTA106 is okay. She has posted for a while.

Is it normal to just not eat very much? I am barely eating 500 calories some days. That isn't like me at all.

Day 7: Veggie scramble this morning with egg. Lunch 1/2 tilapia filet, salsa, 1/2 cup swiss chard. Dinner was some walnuts and a larabar. Just wasn't hungry for anything big. If I don't start eating, I'll need to get some vitamins!

I used a recipe that called for apple cider vinegar, and used a blender to make it. I think next time it will be lemon juice. I do have a food processor also, so maybe I'll try it next time.

My paleo mayo is just slightly less thick than store bought. I don't know which recipe you used but you could cut back on the lemon juice maybe? It is slightly different each time. The first time mine tasted a little too lemony but the second time it looked and tasted just like mayo. Did you use a hand mixer/blender/food processor? I have used my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and my food processor. I had a little better luck with the food processor but not so much that I would go buy one for that.

I will be praying about the fires out there.

I don't think I have a lot more energy. Definitely not waking up sluggish unless I don't sleep well. I am working on healing myself from sleep apnea, so I think some nights that still does me in. Not bad anymore though since losing weight and doing throat exercises. I only lost about 10 pounds since being diagnosed, but I think that definitely helped. I only write all this in case someone else needs the encouragement.

Made my first batch of paleo mayo yesterday. It is a little runnier than I expected, and I was EXTREMELY patient with putting in the olive oil. Does anyone know if it should be the same consistency of the store bought?

Missed my gym workout Friday because of the picnic. I was just too hot and exhausted from the heat. The smoke in the area probably didn't help either. Dear Lord, please be with the firefighters in New Mexico and help them extinguish this monster of a fire!

Day 19: scrambled eggs with turkey sausage for breakfast, big pile of lettuce with paleo chicken salad for lunch, too much fruit when the grandkids came over, made 40 garlic clove chicken out of the cookbook Make it Paleo(fabulous!) and sauteed kale greens

That recipe is on their website too. I highly recommend it.

Did my first Saturday WOD (workout of the day at Crossfit). It was awesome. I will definitely add Saturdays to my routine.

How do you feel Rigasmom? Can you tell you have more energy?

Day 6: Turkey soup for breakfast, tilapia filet with tomato, avocado salsa, and swiss chard for lunch, grass feed ground beef, little bit of yellow squash, zucchini squash and beet greens for dinner, plus an apple pie larabar for a snack. Amazing how little food I seem to need the last couple of days.

I live in southern Arizona, very close to the border with Mexico. We typically don't see this hot of weather. However, it is hot until the monsoons in July. They help to cool it down some, although then it gets humid. Most of the time the weather here is perfect!

It would be so great if you could get off your medicine eventually. I have found that diet cures a lot of things naturally.

Where do you live? I am in central Alabama where it is hot as blazes. There is some breeze today so that helps plus I love the summertime.

I do believe I shouldn't have had the premade hamburger patties! Obviously they were not pure ground beef and my gut is complaining today. I am sitting here eating some homemade chicken vegetable soup for breakfast. I usually eat around 6:30 am, but today it's 9:30. Just still wasn't hungry. Maybe because my colon was saying, "What in the world did you give me yesterday." IBS is so much fun.

Have fun today. I sure wish I had a pool to jump in. Supposed to be really hot again today without any relief in the near future. I pray we don't have another fire in the mountains like last year. We were evacuated twice. We are being blessed with lots of smoke from the fire in New Mexico. I feel really sorry for them.

I am off to the doctor with my hubby (his appt). I am going to mention my blood pressure. I have reduced my medication to just 1 a day. It may be time to change it, or just try without it. I think Paleo and exercise are really helping out there.

Haha-I have grandbabies too and they wear me out! But at least I am doing a little better keeping up with them.
Sounds like you are right on plan! I have had a great day so far-scrambled eggs with turkey sausage and green onions in with it, coffee with coconut milk. I made a big batch of paleo chicken salad last night and that will be lunch over lettuce. I am baking chicken for dinner with one of many veggies in the fridge. Don't know which one yet and can do whatever floats my boat as hubby is gone til late this evening!

I am off to the pool! I was supposed to work on dh accounting for his business today but it's gorgeous outside. I am already sweaty too since I went and worked out.

Well I had some bacon today also since I took the salad to work with it. I buy the nitrate free uncured bacon, so not as bad. I won't have it often and maybe not again until after my 30 days.

Day 5: Green beans with slivered almonds, HB egg, chicken. Lunch was 2 hamburger patties, slice of tomato, slice of onion, small bit of watermelon, and two helpings of the salad I took. It was really hot out there. Hottest day of the year - 100 or more and I am not used to it. I am ready for the monsoon season, but that's not until July! I just am not hungry tonight. In fact I think the heat wore me out, plus watched the grandkids tonight. I am about ready for bed.

Wow-now that is clean eating! I had my first larabar today. It was a lifesaver. My son got a job and I took him to complete the tax forms/paperwork and it ended up taking him 4 hours. So, I drove over to the Earth Fare store (which I had never been to before and now love) and got larabars, organic grapes, organic blueberries, coconut aminos for stir fries, grass fed beef and organic chicken. I was so thankful I had that larabar and grapes in the car with me:)

Hope your day went well today. I did ok but ate kind of weird-trail mix for breakfast, the larabar and grapes late morning, chicken sausage, sauteed peppers and onions for lunch then brussel sprouts sauteed with garlic, onions, bacon(I know not on plan) and chopped cooked chicken breast. that last bit was good believe it or not.

Thank you CMSLOCUM1. I know it will take time. I know I am eating right, so that's the important thing. It amazes me how little calories I am taking in, but I feel satisfied most of the time. I know we aren't counting calories, but they show up when I do the log here.

Day 4: HB egg and chicken for breakfast. Later was a large bowl of homemade asparagus soup. Lunch was spinach, lettuce, chicken salad. Big helping of green beans for dinner with half a grilled strip steak.

It's Friday! emoticon

I go to our organization picnic today. I will probably just eat the salad I am taking and a couple of hamburger patties. The salad is spinach, bacon, apples, walnuts with a balsamic vinaigrette. Never made it before but sounded yummy. Actually the walnuts were my idea, so I will see how it tastes later.

Day 15: crumbled turkey sausage, 1 egg and green onions scrambled for breakfast; grapes for snack; lettuce wrap with leftover salmon, sauteed peppers and onions (I do these on the weekend for all week), avocado and salsa;grilled pork chop with peach/tomato salsa and fresh green beans for dinner;sweet potato for snack

I was worried about that sweet potato but am down another .5 this morning:)

Did crossfit yesterday morning-killer workout but it felt awesome!

Good luck ladies! I love reading your posts and getting ideas from them.

Ignazia-It's so hard to stay on plan when you are out and about! And, yes, today is a new day!!! I love a fajita salad and I make them a lot at home. They are becoming my go to lunch. I cook up a big mess of peppers and onions on the weekend and then all week I take leftover protein, peppers and onions and some avocado and wrap it in lettuce with salsa. I did it with salmon for the first time yesterday. It was yummy but I prefer it with chicken or steak.

I am waiting about those raw eggs. I do use them in my homemade may but I haven't had the nerve to put them in a smoothie.

Rigasmom,
It took about a week before I saw a difference in my clothes. It will come! I eat a lot and I eat often so it doesn't surprise me. Be sure you eat enough protein. I think women in particular are used to "dieting" and are afraid to eat (for example) 2 turkey patties instead of 1. It looks like you had plenty. It sounds like you ate great! You did eat several meals but they are 2-4 hours apart and it's much better to eat something on plan than to let yourself get hungry and grab something you will regret. I think you did great!

Just saying hey, no time to blog, but working hard to stay on track, am helping run an outdoor event for 300 plus people and no time to blog or anything. My next 21 days started and I have been pretty ok, breakfast was smoothie with banana, nuts, tahini and two raw eggs. If raw eggs kill me, yall will know not to eat them.

lunch at mexican place, I didn't eat ANY chips, had fajita salad, then for afternoon my boss gave me tiny candy bars and I ate them, ;( prolly 7 of them. And dinner was coconut elk burger and greenbeans. Tomorrow is another day, I made him buy healthy snacks for the event, along with the yukky ones, and I'll be taking some fruit and veggies with me too.

Goals:
If you want real results-they aren't coming for free.

Bless someone each day with my presence. Make them glad they are here.

Teach people how to love.

Day 4: I was really hungry today for some reason. I had just a few nuts before breakfast. Breakfast was at 6:30 with turkey sausage, pepper, eggs, onion and yellow squash again. About 8:00 I had a HB egg. I had a small mixed salad with boiled shrimp about 10:00. At 1:00 I ate about a cup of crockpot chicken and half of a small butternut squash. For dinner I had a big bowl of mixed salad with an avocado, some steak and some chicken. All in all, just a little over 50 grams of carbs, mostly from the vegetables. I worked out again today, mostly upper body.

CMSLOCUM1, glad to hear you broke the plateau. I haven't noticed any difference in my clothes, but then again, this was only day 3. I am really it also helps out my IBS. There are differing opinions on whether or not you can heal. I believe I will if I continue to stay with Paleo.

FINALLY broke through a small plateau. I had been at 135.5 for 5 days after losing a few quick pounds at first. I think this will be slower for me because I wasn't eating a bunch of junk to start. It has made me realize I was eating dessert more often than I thought and eating more bread than I thought. I am so happy to see 135 on that scale this morning. I have a very small frame and am 5'4". I feel best around 115 so I still have 20 to go:) It always shocks me when I look at the recommended weight charts and they say I should weigh 110-120 since I have a small frame. It even surprised my family dr. He says 115-125.

Crumbled turkey sausage, egg, and chopped green onions scrambled for breakfast. Coffee with coconut milk and I am off to Crossfit. So glad. They were closed for the holiday so I haven't worked out since Friday and am missing it.

I love Larabars, but you have to be careful. They typically have about 200 calories. I had one a couple of weeks ago and it had added sugar. Most do not have sugar. They are dates, nuts, and unsweetened fruit. I just don't see them as processed food. I will probably have a small piece of one if I really need something, but not the whole bar while whole30. I was thinking they were good carbs after a workout, but read today that if you are eating nutritious food all day, you don't need carbs after. In fact, you can burn more fat NOT have them. I guess I will give that a try.

FYI - the only olive oil we ever buy is evoo!

evoo=extra virgin olive oil

Definitely pack up those bags and put some in your purse. It's hard to find portable foods doing the Whole 30 and those are great. I just have to watch it because they are high calorie so I don't want to eat many.

I haven't tried a larabar. Do you like them? I haven't had them because the Whole 30 is supposed to be no processed foods but larabars were the one that was mentioned as the best if you must have something to get you by.

I buy large bags of raw pecans, walnuts, and almonds at Costco and keep them in the freezer. I need to pack some up for emergencies. . . like when I am out somewhere and get a hunger thrown on me. I will check our local food co-op for ghee. They had the grass-fed butter, but I didn't think to look for ghee. What is EVOO?

Good info on clarifying butter. You can order ghee online I think but I found a grass fed butter at Wal-Mart-couldn't believe it!

Try 2 parts evoo to fresh lemon juice with a little salt and pepper for a dressing. I think I'll never go back. It's good on everything.

It's been a stressful day and for the first time in 2 weeks I might strangle someone for a piece of pizza and a glass of red wine-ha! Instead I had grilled chicken and sauteed peppers and onions with salsa and avocado wrapped in lettuce leaves.

I have got to hardboil some eggs tonight. It's my go to pick up meal when I am in a hurry. I too have snack size bags measured out of nuts. Otherwise I could eat the whole can.

I looked it up online, but you need a good pastured cow butter. I did 1/2 pound in a saucepan on medium-low heat. When it started to foam, I would ladle the foam off. I had a strainer lined with a few layers of cheesecloth over a large glass measuring cup. when the foam stopped, I poured the butter into the lined strainer. What was left, I believe was clarified. It was my first time! I may try to find ghee, although that could be tough in this little town,

Good evening all! Yes Lora I just decided why wait when I have everything here! I also won't weigh in for a while, hoping I will feel the difference in my clothes. I also have to be very careful with the nuts,so I have some small snack bags and I premeasured a 1/4c of nuts in each one! Also the fruit,I love the fruit this time of year,so will limit fruit to 2 times daily.I had 4 strawberries this a.m. and 2 slices watermelon this afternoon.Could someone tell me how to clarify butter? I will try to stay away from it but just in case would love to know! Checked out my favorite Ken's salad dressing, lot's of stuff in it I can't pronounce so sticking to EVOO and vinegar! Diane

LOL I had some fruit. We had expected company for a BBQ, but they had to cancel. I had all this fruit for a salad so munched on some while cutting it up. Now it is my husband's. I may have a little of it, but will try to restrict the amount. I have been doing Paleo since just after Christmas, but this is a little stricter. I feel confident I can do it!

Just had my husband take some before pictures. I too want to step on the scale, but I will really try to avoid it. I do like surprises and am hoping for a very pleasant one come June 26 when once again I weigh myself and take measurements! It would be nice to drop a dress size or two before my family reunion in July. :-)

Good morning Lora and Diane! Sounds like you both are doing great! The only part of the Whole30 I can't do is the not weighing myself. It just keeps me on track and helps me figure out where I am going wrong. I had too much fruit yesterday for sure-pineapple, watermelon, and some grapes-all very sweet fruit too. I think preparation is key and you both are obviously rocking that!

I guess you started early with me. Great to have the company. Good luck Diane! I know we can do it. I have a big shopping trip planned for the end of June, so looking forward to getting back into the smaller sizes. I am returning to work tomorrow, but food is made and ready for my meals at my desk! I am going to try to watch the number of nuts. Tomorrow is another workout day. This is my second week back to the gym and I am already feeling better. Lora

Day 1: I ate clean all day and wasn't even tempted by my husband's french fries! My day started with browned turkey Italian sausage with bell pepper, onion, yellow squash and eggs. After my workout I ate an apple pie Larabar. For lunch I had a tilapia fillet with a salsa I make from avocado, garlic, tomato, and onion with lime juice. Dinner was some crockpot chicken, 1/2 of a very small butternut squash with clarified butter, a fresh salad of red leaf lettuce, baby spinach, cucumber, tomato and onion, topped with a homemade balsamic vinegar dressing. Other than my morning black coffee and one cup of unsweetened tea this afternoon, I drank water all day. Soon to bed until tomorrow and do it again!

Love the link to Whole Mom. I needed a good laugh! Just had a small cookout for my son's high school graduation and am so proud that I ate clean. I had 2 grilled turkey burgers wrapped in lettuce with tomato and onion, watermelon, pineapple and deviled eggs I made with homemade paleo mayo-Yes, I bypassed the cupcakes, cheeseballs, chips, pigs in a blanket not to mention the cupcakes and cake! Truthfully, it wasn't even tough:)

I had already looked at all the stuff on the Whole30 site, but the results that gal got are just what I want! I really am only looking at losing about 7 pounds, but I really look forward to the inches coming off. I have started back to strength training, so that should help too. So far today I have been doing good on the whole30. Went shopping for more veggies. The only snack I had was a larabar after my workout. I figured it might be a pretty good after workout carb, especially since I was driving to the grocery store. Didn't want to get there hungry.

What does everyone else do for carbs after their workout?

Google Whole30 and you can read all about it on their site. Your search might return Whole9, but it's the same group. Here we go!

I am in for a Whole30. I just finished one last week and feel great. It was the first time I have been able to stay Paleo for more than a week. I have had a relaxing food weekend and now ready to start another, so June 1st it is.

Thanks that's a big help!! I don't eat a lot of dairy so no problem. Can we still have a little fruit like the berries? And should meat be very lean or a mix of some fat? Does no dairy mean no butter? Sorry for all the questions I just can't afford the 30 download right now! Diane

Basic differences I see between Whole30 and Primal:

Whole30 is only for 30 days. It's basically and elimination diets and is aimed and helping people pinpoint food that give them problems when you add them back in one at a time.

No dairy. Yes, no cheese, no yogurt (not even greek whole fat), no cottage cheese

I understand the goal of Primal is to be 80/20-eat right 80% of the time. The Whole30 encourages no cheats for 30 days.

I think most folks who do a Whole30 go on to eat Paleo or Primal after the 30 days.

Hope this helps!

WooHoo! I will extend my Whole30 challenge until June 30th. I started almost 2 weeks ago and it's been fabulous. We are going on a trip starting 6th so the timing couldn't be better. Can't wait to share this experience with everyone!

Time to get cured and ready for the 4th of July! I searched for a Whole30 challenge, but it has been a while from what I could find. Come on and join the fun for the month of June.

I am starting today since I need to be done before the 30th of June, but we can set the official start as June 1 for those who need time to prepare.
