So, I went from a size 12 to a size 8. Still need to work on firming up which is so very hard as you get older. I will get there, but it sure felt good to walk out with those 8's!

Take care my friend and see you on the main site. Hope you stay healthy and happy!

YAY!!!! Good for you!

This has been very successful. I had been fluctuating between 136 and 133 for a couple weeks but now am hanging just below 133 so I feel like I broke a plateau-albeit a small one.

Best wishes to you!

Today is day 30 and it's been quite a ride. I am finally very close my goal weight! I think I will be there in a couple of days since it is just less than one pound.

Day 29: 2 HB eggs for breakfast, snack of Terra veggie chips, chicken and green beans for lunch, tilapia filet, a salsa made of avocado, onion, tomato, and garlic with some fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 1/2 sweet potato for dinner.

BBQ is over. Not perfect, but I did pretty good. I had some olives, a tomato dish I made that was all Paleo, grilled chicken, about 4 Tostitos with a tablespoon of bean dip which wasn't very good, a Mexican dish with veggies and shrimp, fruit, and some homemade white wine sangria. I like the recipe and didn't add the sugar it called for. It was still good. Not whole30, but I believe it was Paleo.

Breakfast was 2 eggs, bacon and the other half of my sweet potato. Lunch was 1/2 orange, a strawberry, and that was pretty much it. I was saving for the BBQ.

I didn't change anything on the hash. Funny but I have a "rule" that the first time I make a recipe I follow it exactly. I thought it was fabulous. I could see where you could change out the veggies and it would still be great.

Your measurements are fabulous!!!! You should be so proud. You have really been strict with it and the results sure show!

I experienced the weight loss stall after a while too. I have lost a total of 10 pounds now-5 the first month I did the Whole 30 but then it really slowed and I have lost 2 in the last 3 weeks. I had lost 3 before the first Whole 30. I am to a point where I think it really taught me a lot. #1-I was eating a lot more junk than I thought. #2-I was eating a lot more dairy than I thought. #3-I wasn't eating as many veggies as I thought I was.

I love my Paleo cookbooks and have found that there are some foods I never would have eaten that I really enjoy.

Keep up the good work. The inches you have lost are phenomenal!

So, decided to measure today. Here are results:

Since 5/26 when I started whole30 - 4" total - 4.6 pounds

Since 1/7 - 13.75" total - 10.8 pounds (I actually started Paleo in December and lost 5 pounds prior to this date, but don't have the records on measurements)

Wow! No wonder I need new clothes!

Glad you like it. Did you make any changes to the hash? I like new ideas. I am going to have something else this week for breakfast but not sure what yet. My weight loss has come to a standstill. My goal is coming up and I only need to lose 2 more pounds in a week. Oh, woe is me!

Ha Ha Ha-I have the vision of your one leg in the pants!

I only keep a larabar in my purse because it has saved me several times when I get stuck in the car and am starving. I also try to buy the ones that have 3 or 4 natural ingredients. I picked one or two up that had way more than that. I love the cherry and the coconut ones!

I had leftover stirfry with pork for lunch and am having leftover steak and collard greens for dinner. Lovin' some leftovers!

One of the stores I will be going to is Ann Taylor at the outlet mall! I too am anxious to see what size I am down to. The pants I have been wearing have enough room for two legs in one side . . . he he (at least it seems that way.

I have not had a larabar for a very long time. Trying to avoid things too sweet right now. They are really very good! I really stock up when they go on sale for $1 each.

I just happened to be online when your post came up.

Haha on the bbq. Grilled chicken is good. Maybe you could take something healthy like a big bowl of fruit to share? You've done so well I wouldn't sweat it.

I can't wait for your clothes shopping trip! I think I am going to get some Ann Taylor cropped pants today. They are on sale and my current pants are falling off:)

breakfast-larabar-on the run-so very glad you introduced me to those-they are yummy!
lunch yesterday was turkey and avocado wrapped in lettuce leaves and an apple
dinner was pork chops and collard greens

Day 24: Veggie hash with sausage; chicken breast and chard; veggie soup with chicken

Only 6 more days to go, and woe is me! Saturday (day 27) is a special going-away BBQ, and I'm not sure how things will go. I know the meat is grilled chicken, but all the guests are bringing side dishes. I am going to try to stick with Paleo, but not sure it will be quite so strict as the Whole30!

Here is what I threw together, estimated. Use the amount of spices you prefer. First I browned the sausage, then just added the veggies and cook on low until the right texture. Lastly I added the eggs so you can just put an egg on top as you eat it each day:

1 small zucchini, chopped
2 medium carrots, chopped
4 ounces mushrooms, canned
1 medium beet, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 small yellow squash, chopped
cup onion, chopped
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
teaspoon chili powder
teaspoon sea salt
teaspoon black pepper
teaspoon basil
6 large egg, whisked
20 ounces turkey Italian sausage, browned

Hope you like it! I ate one bowl for lunch before adding the eggs and it was yummy!

I live in Arizona, but it is the high desert. We are in the hot time of the year before the monsoons. It's been high 90's and low 100's. YIKES! At least it is dry. I am ready for a change, which will come within a month. However, I am not into cold anymore having been raised in Wisconsin! Sorry you are so cold. I love the mild winters we have. It's cold enough for a fire, but not so cold I need heavy outwear. (I mean Wisconsin type of outerwear!) LOL

Rigasmom-Please send me the recipe for the veggie hash. I have been wanting to make one and put a fried egg on top for breakfast.

PJBonarrigo-The idea from the Italian Restaurant is fabulous!!!! Usually the "healthy" dishes they have don't sound nearly as appetizing and I never thought of just replacing the pasta at a restaurant although I do it all the time at home. One of my Paleo books talks about eating out and all the salads sounded crummy so they asked them to take the toppings off one of the yummy sounding sandwiches and put it on top of lettuce-same concept-brilliant!

I am enjoying reading about your Whole 30 Challenge. It's inspiring and encouraging to see how well everyone is doing. I am also enjoying reading about your hot weather. Here in Maine it is 10:20AM and only 60F and my hands are freezing as I'm typing here LOL We are still flooded from last week's rain too and I might have to break down and turn on the heat.
I'm praying for the end of the fires and everyone's safety.
I had to comment on an idea from my favorite Italian restaurant in Portland, Maine- they will serve any menu item on a bed of steamed spinach instead of their homemade pasta. WHOO HOOO!!
I'm getting a lot of great menu ideas too; thanks for posting :-)

Fall down six times- get up seven :-)

I am glad you had a good time with your Dad. I miss my parents very much. I am beginning to wonder if my gut doesn't like kale. I ate it Saturday night, issues Sunday morning, then ate it last night and some issues this morning. It's the only thing different. I brought the rest for lunch today, so I will see what happens tomorrow. If problems, then kale is out of my diet plans. I can eat other greens with no problems though.

Day 21: 2 eggs, 2 uncured bacon for breakfast; made a delicious veggie hash with turkey Italian sausage for lunch, I added eggs to it after eating so I could freeze it for breakfast this week; dinner was a tilapia fillet with kale, and a squash blend of veggies.

I do not cook the stems. Try stripping them off.

Hope you had a good weekend. We did Mexican restaurant again yesterday. I had a beef taco salad (didn't touch the shell of course)-just lettuce, beef, guacamole and lots of salsa. It was really good!

Then dinner was turkey and avocado wrapped in lettuce leaves.

It was really good to be able to spend time with my Dad on Father's Day.

I will try that. The stalks are really tough. Are you supposed to tear off the leaves? I did brown some garlic in olive oil and then added red wine vinegar. Just didn't taste as good as my swiss chard! I was tempted to use bacon grease, and that may have helped.

Here's how I cook kale and I love it:

saute some chopped onion and garlic in olive or coconut oil
throw in the kale and saute it for a few minutes
put in about 1/2 cup of chicken broth and let it simmer for 30 minutes
right before serving sprinkle it with a little balsamic vinegar

That little bit of tart at the end is magic-you could use lemon juice instead

Hope you like it!

We went to our farmer's market yesterday also. Not much there to stock up on. It's pretty small on Saturdays. Their big day is Thursday . . . when I am at work! We drove over to the food coop and I picked up some locally grown carrots, kale, and rainbow chard.

I wasn't all the fond of the kale. Do you have a good recipe for it?

We went to the farmer's market and a berry festival so I am loaded up on fruits and veggies for the week!

Breakfast-scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, coffee with coconut milk
Lunch-homemade fajita salad
Dinner-guacamole salad and the insides of a beef burrito(restaurant)

We are doing a Mexican restaurant for lunch today for Father's Day too.

I will stay committed for the next two weeks, but after that is the family reunion. I will be doing mostly Paleo while gone, and really try to watch what I eat, but it won't be as strict. Some things just go awry on vacation! I am just not going to beat myself up too much. Of course, the gluten will still need to be gone from the diet no matter what. I may have some of the other "grains" though. It will be tough to find gluten-free stuff in a small northern town, but I am getting good at it.

You can do this! You have done so well so far!!!! It's harder when we're not in a situation where we can just throw out all the junk. I messed up today big time for the first time. I had a good breakfast-2 eggs, scrambled and turkey bacon. We have had our grandbaby all day and we took him to the berry festival where we rode the tractor pull, petted the goats, etc. It was about noon when we left and he was starving (he's 2) so we stopped at McDonald's and his food sat in my lap. I picked at the fries and ate 2 of the chicken nuggets. Why????? It wasn't even good. Bad habits die hard! We can do it. Just recommit!

Day 19: 1 avocado, 1 tomato, green beans and almonds for breakfast; some nuts for a snack. Lunch was another salad with Chipotle barbacoa meat on it and pico for the dressing. Dinner was a total disaster and ruined my whole30. I have some scraps of veggie chips, and since there was nothing ready to eat . . . ice cream. Wish that hadn't been in the house, but it is my husband's goodie. Not doing so good now. Well, back after it the next two weeks. Hopefully I can make up for it!

I don't even know what day this is for me-haha.
Breakfast-1 hb egg
Snack-cottage cheese (I decided to try adding a little dairy back in since it's been over 30 days) with fresh pineapple
Lunch-leftover fajitas wrapped in lettuce (no tortilla) with avocado
Dinner-was so pleased-we went out to Longhorn and I had no problem skipping the bread or dessert everyone else had-7 oz filet mignon med. rare, baked sweet potato plain, sauteed mushrooms and onions Everybody else shared a firecracker chicken wrap appetizer and I resisted even though I was really hungry. They still didn't look good.

You are doing great! Can't wait til you go try clothes on and tell us about it:)

The meat was cooked in a pit at our church. The type of seasoned salt may have had something not good for the tummy, but the gal couldn't remember exactly what it was. Feeling much better today except I had a hard upper body workout yesterday. Arms and shoulders are a little sore.

Yes, I do not want to go back either. I feel better and my gut is better most of the time. I just want a small treat once in a while, no big diet changes!

I probably will stick to the basics but I do plan on having my wine:) And yogurt:) And once in a while probably thin veggie pizza. I don't miss bread so I doubt I will have that much.

I just don't want to slip back into eating like the average American does now.

I have read about a lot of folks who eat Paleo having tummy troubles when they eat wheat or soy products. There is no telling what they used. I read that lots of food (not only oriental) in restaurants has MSG and it contains soy. Maybe???

I hope you sleep great tonight!

Thanks for the kind words! I will be glad when I am finished with this. A popular pizza place in town now has gluten-free pizza. I would love to try it out! I know it's not strict Paleo, but once a month or so, I don't see where it would be an issue.

Day 16: 2 eggs for breakfast with some pit roasted beef (which I think was seasoned with something my gut didn't like!); lunch was leftover steak, squash, and green beans with a banana for snack. I didn't eat dinner because my stomach was really bloating by that time. I had asked what they used to season the beef and thought it was safe. It was the only thing different, so it had to be the culprit. Still slightly upset this morning, but improving.

Dakota-I will throw anything in a lettuce wrap! Tuna salad is one of my favorites. I also love to wrap turkey and avocado in a lettuce wrap or homemade chicken salad or fajitas or well you get the idea! I have already finished the 30 strict Paleo days I started with and I still eat this meal almost every day for lunch. I don't even miss the bread.

Rigasmom-You are rocking it! You are halfway through and folks are noticing. That is awesome.

I did good yesterday considering I took my son out of town for college orientation and they fed us. I had a larabar and half a banana with coffee for breakfast. Then lunch was zucchini, mushrooms and carrots (I was so thankful to see this on the buffet). I asked the lady to pull me a chicken breast out of the pasta and not give me any noodles and then I put salsa on top of it. Not bad. Dinner was spaghetti sauce. I really wasn't hungry. Then I had some fruit.

Crossfit this morning so I had coffee and a hb egg for breakfast. Lunch is going to once again be turkey and avocado wrapped in lettuce. Dinner is fajitas (grilling the flank steak).

Hi Dakota106, nice to see you back with us!

Back to clean eating on Day 15: 1 HB egg, 2 slices of uncured bacon for breakfast; Chicken breast and veggies for lunch; 1/2 strip steak, 1/2 acorn squash, 1-1/2 cups green beans for dinner; some nuts for a snack in the morning. Coffee in the am, water the rest of the day.

I am not finding that I am sleeping any better, but there sure is a change in my clothes. People are finally starting to notice the weight loss. Two more weeks and new clothes!!!

What a good idea to order the toppings with no pasta! I will definitely try that. Hope you are feeling ok.

Dakota-your menu sounds fabulous! I love a good steak.

I had 2 hb eggs for breakfast, am eating leftover grilled chicken, green beans and aspagus for lunch and probably tuna fish in lettuce wraps for dinner. I have to work til 7 so it will be something easy and fast.

have a great week!!

Day 14: 2 eggs, 2 uncured bacon for breakfast. Since we were on the road, lunch was two HB eggs, nuts with unsweetened coconut. Dinner was Macaroni Grill. The waitress assured me it was gluten free, but I look online at their allergy menu and it isn't. Hopefully I got by with it, but the attacks could start anytime. Glad I pack pills with me! Anyway, I had a chicken dish with roasted veggies (no pasta). I did splurge on some wine and mozarella cheese with a slice of tomato. Not a good whole30 meal. Bad girl.

It is really hard when you are invited someplace. We went to my daughter's last weekend and I ate a ton of the deviled eggs I brought and a turkey burger (my sweet son in law made one just for me). Some places are harder to eat out at than others but I imagine any Italian place (macaroni grill included) would be hard. I have avoided them like the plague. How did you do?

We had tilapia and green beans for dinner last night. I love fresh green beans! I plan on hitting the farmers market this week. I went to Costco yesterday and loaded up on yummy salmon, pineapple, watermelon, and berries. I did have a glass of red wine last night. Yum.

I really love this way of eating and think my ultimate plan is to aim for eating this way 90% of the time. I do plan on eventually having a treat at like birthday parties and such but don't plan on having it in my house. I really don't miss the sweets but I do miss yogurt:)

Great job! Its a land mine out there. I get invited to a bbq about once a week. The only thing I can usually eat is the cole slaw (probably has sugar) and the meat, hopefully before the sauce gets on it.

I'm to the point now, I"m sick of bbq ;) and yesterday I avoided home made layer coconut cake, it called to me oh so sweetly, but I refused. Its tough out there.

Day 13: Well I had been doing real well until yesterday. We were invited to eat at our sons. It started with a glass of red wine (just one). The brisket was excellent, but then I had to move on to a spoon of coleslaw (some sugar) and a stuffed jalapeno (little cheese). Not too far off the path. It' not like I had any of the homemade cheesecake. I did eat some of the leftover raspberries while the others had that, so it was easier. Otherwise I was good all day. 2 eggs with turkey italian sausage, salmon and sweet potato (leftovers). Going out to Macaroni Grill tonight. Oh boy, what do I do now! Actually they have a shrimp salad that looks good.

Hey ladies! Glad to see everyone is doing well! I am addicted to chicken sausage now I believe. I found fresh made spicy or Italian chicken sausage at Publix and it's fabulous. So, I had that for lunch yesterday with some boiled cabbage (crazy but I like it) then chicken breast and asparagus for dinner. I was in a continuing ed class yesterday where the day started with bagels but I grabbed a banana and they kept bringing out chips and junk. The class was good but I was glad to leave:) It is so much easier when you are at home!

Another thing I am anxious about is seeing what size I now can fit into when I go buy clothes in a couple of weeks! Yesterday I wore some sandals that usually start hurting my feet because they are a little tight. Not any more! Most of the time I don't fell deprived either, but I would once a week like a doughnut on Friday with the rest of the crowd. Maybe I will get past that also. It's hard to break the patterns of so many years of living.

And I think a big shift is I don't feel "deprived" when I don't eat that crap, I think "what is wrong with you?" to the people who eat it.

Yall sound like you are doing great! I'm still hanging in there. I too, "cheat" and look at the scale. I think its worse since I've lost weight, I"m afraid the slightest thing will bring it back? Its hanging steady and that is comforting since I can't eat 100 percent. My job takes me to places for food where the best choice might be pre made bbq or fried fist. ;) I did ditch the sides (nothing healthy) and just eat fish.

When I get to chose my own, its always paleo to make up for the times I have no choice. I see more muscles, that makes me happy and the mirror shows changes.

Day 12: Chicken, HB Egg, 2 strips of uncured bacon for breakfast, leftover steak, banana and swiss chard for lunch, grilled salmon and sweet potato for dinner. Did have a glass of white wine with dinner. Also did a good workout today and that felt really good. I just kept the muscles and my heart pumping for about 40 minutes. Anxious to see how the measurements are doing.

Wow - I was really close to cheating yesterday and having a glass of wine, but my will power won out!

Day 10: Chicken breast for breakfast with HB egg, walnuts/pecans for a snack, chicken breast for lunch (I brought some carrots and onions frozen from a roast a while back and then remembered they were cooked with wine!), half of a strip steak, broccoli, cauliflower, and salad for dinner.

I know the whole30 website says not to weigh for the 30 days, but I cheated and stepped on the scale this morning. I am down 4 more pounds! Yippee!!!!! The emoticon is what some of my clothes are starting to look like now that I have lost 19.5 pounds total. Going shopping for new end of the month.
emoticon

It is so delicious and really yummy. I made it with sauteed kale. I sauteed the kale in the same skillet I browned the chicken in and it was really good too.

I had the chicken leg and kale green for breakfast, some cashews for lunch(breakfast was very late), then for dinner made a yummy stir fry with leftover garlic chicken and broccoli slaw sauteed with sesame oil and coconut aminos. The coconut aminos are a substitute for soy sauce and I love them. They don't have the soy or the salt content but taste the same to me.
