Been paleo (maybe Primal) for almost a month now. haven't felt the need for sugar or chips yet! Even baked Christmas cookies with the grandkids (sent them home though so no temtations. I am in for a Junk Food Free January!
I have a question for anyone out there - are pork rinds allowed on Paleo? I know years ago my husband was on Atkins and they were - I'm thinking they are on Paleo as well. Just something to keep on hand when you do have the crunchies :)

So how did everyone's Junk Food January go? I was able to stay off processed oils I(never ate them anyway) gluten/grains and off sugar! don't know how because that one I thought was going to be hard.

Just returned from the mountains with hubby. While I was not perfect, 2 pieces of gf cake imperfect, I did better on my paleo than I had at home after the holidays. I think it was the kick start I had ben needing. I have noticed some inflammation is gone which is always good.

Its tough, just remember, no one can make you eat anything you don't want to eat. I love the bag idea, and eat something before you go and plan a treat for later to help you feel less inclined to eat junk.

HONEYBEA it is the art of the food bag! Get a cute lunch bag that looks kind of like a purse, and always, always carry food! I have had to due to Celiac, but the same thing can apply here. Make what you bring fun, and similar to what they have so you don't feel deprived. Call ahead and ask if you aren't sure.

Bah! I am not doing so well on the junk food free thing. I keep blowing it, mostly at other people's homes who are not paleo friendly, but that is a lame excuse. I need to do better. No excuses!

Brendark I am not anti cheese at all unless you have an intolerance like I do. If you can digest it, go for it!

Ah, Larabars. Whatever would we do without them? I have them stashed everywhere... in my purse, car, work. The funny thing is I put them in my daughter's and her boyfriend's Christmas stockings in lieu of candy and they were thrilled! They've been eating Paleo for about a year now.

I also like those 100 calorie packs of almonds or walnuts!

Yes I have my big lunch bag that goes everywhere with me! I stash Larabars in my purse for emergencies. It is a pain, but some things (like feeling good!) are worth it! I don't really miss yogurt too much, really it is all about the cheese for me! If I were sticking to my Paleo principles and not eating junk food, I wouldn't have missed sour cream dips or having it for tacos!

Yep! I can substitute with almond milk, coconut milk, and even coconut milk yogurt and be satisfied, but I do occasionally have American cheese or Stonyfield yogurt and then I pay the price. It gets overwhelming to have to eat like a hermit all the time. Having to be prepared ahead of time sometimes gets the best of me. But since you called dairy "junk food" it must be fair game. I look forward to joining your challenge!

AVADAVIS dairy IS JUNK to the Celiac, at least a lot of us! It is one of the major allergens that Celiacs often cross react to. I just eat it cause I am weak even though I know it is bad for me and my tummy revolts after a while. I LOVE cheese!

I'm in the process of giving up sugar and caffeine. Can we count dairy as my junk food for the month? As a celiac with lots of allergies (wheat, corn, soy, rice...) dairy and sugar have been my mainstay junk foods, my comfort foods.

I have given up junk food as a way of life and love it! The only dried fruit that I have is four prunes, which I eat daily and limit myself to that. I eat no processed foods anymore and love it! This is a great idea, and I am definitely on board!
