So, yesterday, day 20, I was in the store and happen to walk down the baking isle to get to the other side of the store and all I could smell was the brown sugar. I use to eat it straight out of the jar by the chunk, all I could think of was how fast I could get out of the isle, it was making me sick. Wow, never thought I would be able to say that.

There's nothing scarier than knowing exactly where you want to go in the world but having no idea how to get there...except maybe knowing where you want to go, knowing how to get there and having no idea who you are when you arrive.

I do get killer carb cravings and know what you mean about having to leave the room. Something that helps me? Broccoli, right before bed. I'll eat a whole big bowl myself. I will also have a yam with dinner if I'm really going nuts for carbs. It doesnt help in the moment, but will help for the next day. And at least I know why I want to rip that donut out of someone's hand and shove it down my own throat! That helps me get through the moment, knowing I'm short on carbs and craving them & knowing there is a better, healthier way out. Finding the right balance in my diet is hard, I think because the balance tends to change.

Can I join in? I only just discovered Paleo yesterday, and I'm trying to start today. I had nothing in the house that was really great for Paleo, so I did the best I could with egg beaters, spinach, green peppers, a Morningstar Farms faux sausage patty (only meat-like thing I had in the house!) and one laughing cow light wedge. On my way home from work I'm stopping at Costco and I have a HUGE list! I think nuts are a little to easy as a go-to snack, and I have a lot of weight to lose, so I'm going to pre-bag in little snack bags easy-to-grab veggies to try and work that in as a snack, too, instead of just nuts (and fruit). I'm planning to bag baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and then separately roasted rosemary green beans and roasted artichoke hearts, mushrooms and tomatoes w/oregano and basil. I'm SO excited to do this! I think it'll just take some serious planning/prep work and then, once that's out of the way, it will be easy. Especially with the availability of fruit for my sweet tooth.

I am nervous about the calories, since I get hungry every few hours (I don't do three meals a day), but I'm thinking that being prepared with veggie snacks will help cut back on the calories.

How have your calories been so far?

So, today is day 9 and the hardest by far. Is anyone else starting to have cravings? Especially when I am around other people, it is like it is all I want and have to physically leave the room to deal with it.

I'm going to join you guys a bit late. I've given up grains and am only using limited full fat dairy. I've been mostly following this on and off the last couple weeks and loving it, but I love the idea of really sticking to it and having a group to support each other.

Today has been 99% good so far (had a small treat earlier that was chocolate), and making eggs for dinner, so a good day here. :)

For chocolate cravings, for me it often means I need more magnesium. Not sure if it will help you, but between upping that slightly and higher fats in my diet, I rarely crave it anymore. (this said after I had some with lunch, so clearly it's not a cure lol)

I started doing it naturally. for the first time in my life I have just not been hungery and so when that hits I just don't eat. I have been Paleo for 7 weeks and this has just started happening.

LUV-2-RUN have you found that paleo has influenced your runs? I am beginning training for my second half marathon this week and I am unsure about how to properly fuel my body following paleo because the typical runners diet is full of grains and processed garbage (ie. fig newtons, power bars).

I managed to stick to paleo this weekend, but I am thinking I am going to include full fat dairy and whey protein powder in my diet. I did my first intermitted fast yesterday (I had breakfast and lunch, but no snack or dinner) and I can honestly say I didn't feel hungry until I woke up this morning. Has anyone else ever experimented with this practice?

Welcome! Today's race was a bad day. :( I fell off a bridge made of trees and slammed my foot on a rock. I went on for about 3 miles, but then had to stop. My diet was good except for the traditional ice cream after. Tough day on the trails for sure! :(

Hey guys,

I am a week into following Paleo/ Primal eating (with dairy) and I would love to join your challenge. I have noticed such a huge difference in my body when I decided to give up grains and processed food and it the way our ancestors did. I have my graduation from University on Tuesday and I am following strict Paleo until then because I want to look awesome in my dress:) Looking forward to checking in on here with your guys!

Today was good, but then tomorrow is the Dirty Thirty run. It's always easier for me the couple of days before a race! :)

I'm so glad you feel like barfing! That's awesome! I never eat pizza anymore. I can only imagine. Ice cream is my big down fall. :(

I made some turkey bacon to put on a baggies and take as a snack. It was good cold. Not the same as jerky, but really good. :)

Alright, today was bad, but ended great "kinda". So didn't get a chance to eat lunch so once it came to dinner I was STARVING! So instead of picking something good, I made a frozen pizza, bad I know, but it is what it is, now for the good part.....I am so nauseous! Makes me so happy that after only 2 1/2 weeks of Paleo eating my body is switching over and proves to me how bad this crap is for me! Can't wait to start fresh tomorrow!

Organic or not, I think it depends on what's in the trail mix.

Today was hard for me. I snacked on nuts almost all day. I don't know why I was so hungry. Perhaps I didn't eat enough yesterday. :(

i got diagnosed with pcos at the age of 24, i gained a lots of weight and struggled with bloodsugar issues. at this time i started a low carb diet and got more and more interested in this WOE, i have lots of books about different LC diets, incl. paleo style diets.

1.5 years ago i got diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and i was only able to eat meat, everything else gave me horrible stomach pains. i was sick at home for a long time and i had a lots of time to read articles on the internet about meat-only diets and i came across a caveman-comunity. that was the day when i realised that low carb is important for me for my bloodsugar, but still all this unnatural stuff, such as sweeteners, they where really bad for me. that was the point when i decided, thats the WOE i need!

thanks! you are right, i will take it from day to day... i want this for a lifetime, so stick to it one month is just a start. why not starting with sticking to it for one week!

i wish i had a chocolate allergy. i can't tolerate wheat very well and same for diary, so its much easier to stay away from them.

only diary products i tolerate well is organic full fat cream and butter. i use butter with my veggies and some cream in my tea in the morning.

I've been following clean eating guidelines for a long time. Then my Xfit trainer mentioned Paleo and I gave it a try. Amazing results in the way I felt and the inflammation from asthma. Going 100% has been a challenge, but living at 80-90% has done wonders for me. I can only imagine what 100% would do.

I had a good day today. I did eat the cheese on the salad. It was a small amount. I've given myself a new so g for every day I do really well. Now I have two more songs to add to my current playlist! :)

Why have you all decided to go?

I started CrossFit with my hubby and saw a poster for Robb Wolf's book. I started reading at BnN and was really intrigued, started doing it ASAP and have had great results so far! My youngest has a cough all year long, since cutting out almost all grains and dairy haven't heard anything! Hoping to really solidify this way of eating completely before summer vacation is over! Glad to find you all to start this goal off right!

I am cuttin out dairy. However, today I ordered a fruit and grilled chicken salad and forgot to ask them to leave off the cheese. I didn't take it back. I want to be as strict as possible, but I also want a permanent change so something small like that I'll let go. I love creamer in my tea and coffee. I've dropped this completely. I figure in the end I'll have moments when I forget to have something made differently, but daily creamer is not a healthy choice and I love to drink hot tea all day. So, relearning this behavior is a wise choice.

I typically don't do any dairy anymore since I quit eating cereal. I don't like milk to drink and don't use it in my coffee, so no reason for me to use. I do have some coconut creamer in the fridge that I might try on some fruit, but that's it. However.... that being said about milk, yes I do eat cheese - both cheddar and cream cheese and most any other real cheeses.

Thanks so much! I am horrible at planning and anything that can be done in the crockpot is my best friend;-) I agree about talking it hour to hour or day to day or month to month....different days we'll all wake up with our little challenges, we can move past them little by little;-) Are you cutting out dairy too? I am, but one of the cookbooks I got from the library uses a little bit of dairy in their recipes, so I was just wondering. Hope you all have a great day!

The mango salsa I have now is from Costco, however I'm noticing it more and more in the mainstream grocery stores. Those of you in TX, HEB makes a good one. I can't shop at Whole Foods, none near me. I think Trader Joe's carry some as well. Actually, I've seen it at Safeway and Albertsons as well - it's getting pretty popular..

I think today is day 1, I just got mixed up and started yesterday.

You'll get there! I have an allergy to chocolate, but I hear people talk of their addictions. So, I know you're not alone! If you fail one hour, the next hour stick with your plan, then the next, then the next. A month to me helps me start off a year. I want to be able to look back a year from now and say, that's when I really started eating healthy and wow, this last year has been amazing. I just need to take it a little slower in the beginning. Whether it be an hour at a time (some days it will be) or a month to start a lifetime. :)

i badly failed on day one :(

i have a really bad chocolate addiction, just don't know what to do. i can stick to the diet, don't eat any rice, pasta, bred... but i just can't stay away from chocolate!

i used to eat very dark chocolate and it helped, but for a couple of weeks all i can do is thinking of swiss milk chocolate and i could eat tons of the stuff.

I've never found a good mango salsa. I've had some really yummy versions in restaurants. What's your favorite? Do you buy it at whole foods, or can you get it at the grocers?

No problem. I'm a horrid cook, so all my recipes are very easy. :)

From Whole foods buy coconut & teriyaki sauce. You can buy them both sugar free at whole foods. At the store they are rather heavy in sugar. Then in the crock-pot on medium put the cut up chicken, teriyaki sauce and a couple cups of water. Cook for 6-8 hours. Put the coconut & some cooked broccoli in a bowl and pour some chicken and sauce over the top.

Really easy. :)

Today at lunch, I sauteed chicken breasts in coconut oil, then added Mango peach salsa (5 grams carbs/2T) then when that was all hot and cooked down a little, I sprinkled some mozzarella cheese over the top until it melted. It was really very good!

We'll just have to all support each other. I don't think I've ever been true to one plan for a whole month either, so it will be a new experience for me as well.

We just do it one day at a time!! Or one meal at a time, if that's what it takes!!

Than you both! This is going to be a hard one for me. I stick with Paleo for 2 days, then fall off, then I go 2 more days. I hear a month soalid is what it takes to really feel the difference. Not that I havn't already felt a huge difference, but I'd like to stick with it for a month. I'm going to need some support for sure. :)
