Hey Dynette, try adding a bit of vanilla or if you use sweetner, a bit of that, to your whipping cream. Also, try different brands, they do tastedifferent. it would be better to add sugar to whipping cream, non organic, then eat coolwhip.

cool whip is basically bad oil whipped.

Well Hi anyone and everyone,
I have been doing great.. only treat I have is cool whip with a few, blueberries .. the rest meat... or eggs and veggies. I tried the coconut flour,, no thanks, and I tried grass feed 8$ hot dogs, not lov'n them either. Just not sure about going grass fed. I agree to the reasoning just not liking the taste at all. I do however love organic meats and eggs. They have more flavor. and framers market when in season I also love. But frozen organic veggies had a horrible flavor and smell. I Also tried to make my cool whip from organic heavy whipping cream and w/o adding sugar it was like eating cold grease. So not sure about that one ...lol Well that's where I am so far!
Good luck to all!

Thanks Ignazia for letting me know about the decaf coffee, that's great! I'm going to check out brands at the health food store this week. It's day 3 on the 30 day challenge for me, I've got a cold and feel horrible. All I want is comfort food - *sigh.

Oh, and the different with the two guys that you were talking about, isn't one of them Primal and one of the Paleo? I know the difference between the two diets is that Paleo allows for high quality dairy and Primal allows for unpasteurized cheese and raw milk. I think that's right anyway.

Yeah and WHole 30 has NONE of that! LOL I can say I never thought I had a dairy issue till I gave it up. I KNOW I do now, but still it is rough to give up cheese for me! I love cheese, it is my CRACK!

I think its interesting the differences between Robb Wolf and Mark Sission's versions. One says dairy ok, one says no, one says wine yes, one prefers a tequila and lime.

I think getting rid of processed foods is a HUGE step. I've done Body for life style eating for years, just not consistently. It stresses equal protein and carbs. So I'm used to keeping my carbs in the 120 range. But I did eat grains.

The major thing I think is being aware of what foods are not right for you. I try to give up coffee once or twice a year, because I don't want anything having a hold on me.

I dont think I have an issue with dairy, but I'm going to give it up anyway and see.

IGNAZIA it is the total strictness that just makes me want to go to McDonalds! I haven't actually gone there since about the time Supersize Me came out, but it makes me want to! I do have a hard time with the timeframe too. 30 days seems very long when you want something prohibited! I am not that far off, but to go without something completely for 30 days is too hard right now! I like my wine, I like my coffee, I want to have some honey sometimes or even some Stevia! it is more mental than physical...I hate being told I can't! I have always had a deep need to defy that!

Cindy, the second time was easier. And I think starting off with sugar/grains and then adding in the others was easier than cold turkey.

JBERNARD4, coffee is hard, but there are brands of water decafinated coffee that are not chemicaly processed. Health food stores and green mountan coffee roasters have them.

good luck!

Hi Ignazia, I just started back on the 30 days yesterday. We can support each other! It is hard, and from what I understand decaf coffee is filled with icky chemicals and stuff, I also cannot give up my coffee and I too have a hard time with beans and bread. I got over my bread obsession about 3 weeks in, the beans were actually harder for me (much to my surprise - I LOVE bread) I have the beans in some baked goods and a few in chili.

I will be starting my whole30 challenge tomorrow on Jan 28 and it will run until Feb. 24. The hardest part is gonna be the no weighing/measuring for a month.

I've given up grains/sugars/badfats and working on legumes (have about once a week) and I'm down to half caf coffee. I'll be caffeine free by Feb. 1. So this should be easier than when I did it last. Cold turkey of everything is awful. But after the first time, I had less desire for grains and now an occasional desire for bread that a flax loaf solved.

Hardest to do without is gonna be???? hum we shall see.

Would anyone else be starting or continuing then?

I am not sure if there is a link to the challenge. It is a book and was an ongoing thing at Mark's Daily apple. This is the link to the primal team where they have it laid out daily for you.

I have both Rob Wolf and Loren Cordain's books and I'm starting the challenge today.

Date: December 4th through January 2nd.

I don't think Christmas will be a super hard hurdle if I skip the dressing and other carbs. On the positive side, it seems like it will be a great way to bring in the new year.

Wish me luck!

Hi Juliana, Welcome to both the Paleo lifestyle and crossfit, an amazing combonation!

From what I have learned about the foods you were questioning. All Paleo but all recommended to be consumed in moderation and as clean as possible. For example bacon is high in fat, we all know that, but depending on the pig's lifestyle that fat can contain various toxins for our body and also increase our Omega 6 intake. So unless you know the source of the meat and what it ate it is best to keep it to a minimum. Almond milk, just like almonds can kick up the Omega 6 intake as well easy to overdo with fat. Coconut milk the same as far as fat intake.
From Robb Wolf I have heard him say that it depends on what Coffee/Caffiene does to your cortisol levels. If it ups those levels it certainly makes it a lot harder to shed the pounds. Also if it has any effect on sleep, it is best to avoid.
Between Robb Wolf and Whole 9 Life blog there is lot's of good explanations of why to avoid or take certain foods in moderation.
Good luck and congrats on your progress so far!

Just saw this thread! I started eating Paleo on November 4 and am excited to see what changes the first 30 days bring! I also started Crossfit on November 3 so it will be a great combination. I have lost about 5 lbs so far (2 weeks in) and would love to hit 10 lbs by the end of 30 days but I am not obsessing about numbers this time as I plan to stick with this way of eating much longer than 30 days! I first thought it sounded very restricting but now that I have begun to learn more and purchased the cookbook "Make It Paleo" I find there is endless possibilities!! So many delicious fruits and veggies out there!

There are a few foods I am on the fence about whether or not I should be eating. I have both Primal and Paleo books that sometimes contradict one another. I am not worried about it since regardless I am eating way better than I was before but I wanted to see what ya'lls take was on the following foods... almond milk and coconut milk, bacon, and coffee.

I am excited to have others to share this journey with! Good luck to everyone!

I am nearly 3 weeks into a Whole30 challenge. Halloween was pretty hard to get through but I am happy for having kicked the hardest part of my sugar cravings. In general I feel a lot more energy from day to day and happy to not feel any of the bloating digestion issues that I sometimes feel with grains, dairy, and legumes. Nice work to all who are fighting through this time of year with these challenges, especially with things like pumpkin break and pancakes etc all around us!

I'm starting my 30 day challenge today. I've been eating the Paleo way for 2 months now (with minimal cheating), but I have not exercised nearly enough! I want to start Cross-Fit but am so intimidated. I'm getting super-serious for this challenge! I just am really scared about the Cross-Fit workouts!

My understanding is that eggs=good and cheese=bad. The free-range, grass-fed, organic meats and eggs are preferable. Nothing processed, so no flour, grains, bread, etc. Also no beans (that has been a hard one for me). Wheat-free soy and other sauces. I've been using quite a bit of coconut milk for cooking (and in my scrambled eggs as a replacement for cheese). I made a Paleo chicken enchilada casserole last night that was to die for! I would have never believed that I could eat chicken enchiladas without cheese, sour cream and tortillas... But this was even better! It had a base of ground cauliflower and I topped it with avocado. This morning I had it for breakfast with a bed of spinach and fresh tomatoes. Yum, yum, yum!!!!! How are you doing on your challenge? I would love any advice...

I am ready to recommit to this way of life. Damned halloween candy has me feeling ill. giving it all away, not even waiting for the 31st to come round.

I read thru what you all wrote here and I too have trouble giving up the cheese. But I am willing to sacrifice to see results.

Now my question is this. Are eggs verboten? I have seen conflicting things on eggs. Trying to figure out where Dukan and Paleo intersect, so to speak. Protein, the kinds that walk or have eyes... veggies and limited fruits, easy on those carbs. I may need a little more structure in the beginning.

Are you all attempting to find the free range, grass fed versions of the meats? Have any of you gone in on an animal with a few other people? If I could find a butcher shop that has freezer space, that would be way cool, could buy the whole pig or cow.

The other big change for me, I am giving away the seed oil, including olive oil which had been a staple of mine for years. I have the coconut oil and enjoy the real thing from renderings.

Goes against what the dietician and nutritionist insist is the only way to health. Which obviously has not worked and in fact has caused more wt gain, more diabetes than ever before. Especially corrosive are the artificial sweetners, staying far away from them if I can help it.

Progressing along, no perfection in sight.
d

Am eating Paleo since Tuesday again - never really went off but was starting to eat processed food again and really noticed a difference in how I felt! Already down a few lbs and feeling so much better. I want to try the primal challenge but --- cheese - sigh - don't really care about the other but I do love my cheese in moderation! So - Keeping carbs below 100 - protein above 80 carbs aren't really an issue as I am not a big bread/pasta/corn etc person unless under stress - then - then that is where I fall into bad patterns.

I do have a question - I just am not hungry when I wake up - in fact can get nauseous at the thought of food until about an hour after waking - some say you HAVE to eat immediately on getting up - thoughts friends?

1. Breathe in

Just got done reading the Paleo Solution. I started cutting out bad carbs and started making some of the recipes and paleo diet. I've been doing it (mostly) since September 9. I feel so much better, have dropped 5 pounds and don't really crave foods. I do need to get rid of the wine and cheese, too. My big downfall. I'm working on it. Am going to strive to do 100% 30 day challenge soon. I would love to see weight loss, better blood test results. I have to drop my glucose -- went from 98 to 106. big jump. Doctor wants it down -- or else sooner or later I'm going to have the A1c test....NO NO NO don't want to go down that road.

Ive just finished my 30 days of eating primal and WOW! I feel fantastic, lost loads of lbs and my skin is rejuvenated, looks younger. My joints dont hurt as much in the morning. Im wearing flat barefoot shoes. The one brilliant thing is that I hav'ent felt deprived of food, I've eaten what I want when I want. Now I'm convincing the family.... even they can see the difference its made, so it shouldn't be too hard.

So, I am starting this challenge in the am (9-13-11) after a half-awake binge on homemade lara bars this morning (I made some with dark chocolate for my kids as they won't be starting their 30 days until I finish mine) My Hubby isn't ready to do a food purge, so I still have 'naughty' things in the house. I think I will be fine though, and I will keep tossing things a couple at a time so he won't catch on...hahaha!!!

I am new to the 30 day challenge, but I have been following a Paleo lifestyle for a few months now. I would like to eliminate the couple of things that I still hang on to with the exception of my yogurt with I make myself with whole milk and no sweetener. Last night I ran out of my raw honey so I will not purchase anymore. My other pitfall is usually in the weekend couple glasses of wine. But other than that I eat clean.

One problem I do have is getting a good balance of fat, protein and carb ratio. I have a tendency towards a lot of fat, although it is in the form of coconut and olive oil and too many carbs - fruit.

I have been making what I call Paleo Mini Muffins and they are fairly high in fat and calories, they are made with Almond Meal and Coconut flour as well as other ingredients. I usually ad a little honey or maple for a touch of sweetness but it isn't necessary.

One other area I find interesting is I don't crave starchy carbs at all but I do crave ice cream so I have been allowing myself to have all natural ice cream occasionally.

So I guess I see the elimination of ice cream, wine and honey as my big issues. I guess I will have to pay attention to what else comes up.

Happiness is a Choice!

Failure is NOT an option!

Restarted my 30 day challenge today. Posted a calendar on my refrigerator to mark the days, cleared my cabinets of anything non-paleo last night, and praying for the strength and will power to see this through. I'm so interested in any tips you have to stay focused and on track this first week or two. I have attempted this a couple of other times, but fell off the wagon the first week!

I have done the challenge but have kept eating this way, plus doing low carb. Feel great.

Started this morning! My first meal of the 30 day challenge was at a restaurant, so it made things a little more tricky. But, I had bacon and eggs and some fruit and said no to hashbrowns and biscuits.

I have been "toying" with Paleo/primal for about a month now, eating sort of paleo, but not too serious about it. Actually, I wasn't really sold on the beans thing, but I did a lot of reading and decided to give it a try and see how it goes. And I really like beer, so there's another reason I've been dragging my feet, but I'm cool - I can deal without beer for a month and then maybe have one here and there for a special treat. :)

Oh, and I'm a former vegetarian (almost 3 years, craving meat like crazy the entire time!) Just recently started adding meat back into the diet. So, I'm in hog heaven being aloud to have a freaking steak again.

I am in my third week of the challenge and am down about 7.5lbs--most of which I lost while on vacation! I'm also down 2" off my thighs, and about 2.5" off my low waist. I'm down a half pound from yesterday despite eating bacon and eggs for dinner--so if anyone is waffling over committing to Paleo/Primal I hope this helps motivate you!
My moments of weakness are still the diet soda--far less than I used to drink, and it helps if I have water close by--I will kick this habit --I recently read that diet soda might increase risk of stroke in addition to all the other bad stuff.

Congratulations, CanadianKim! That's so awesome. I'm on Day 17 and haven't lot an ounce but feel better. I'm feeling also that I'm moving toward where you're talking about....away from food obsessive cravings and thoughts. Thanks so much for sharing your progress. Inspiration is always a plus!!!!

Just completed my first 30 day Paleo Challenge. I am thrilled to report that I lost 8.8 lbs and 4.75 inches in the month of June! However, the best news is that I am free of food-obsessive thoughts and cravings. I am loving eating this way - I feel so much better about myself and my body, and am finding meal planning to be really key in all of this.

So, I'm continuing to follow the plan and see where it takes me!

Yippee! emoticon Congrats on your first day challenge MSHISTORY.

Keep up the good work emoticon .

I was able to give up soda by drinking flavored carbonated water. I too suffered from the headaches, but they only lasted about three days. It will get easier.

Have fun on your vacation !

Hi everyone! I just started the 30 day challenge yesterday (my 26th bday)--and it went really well--boiled eggs for breakfast and lunch (with berries at lunch). I kept it simple because I knew I wanted to have a big dinner. For that I made homemade Thai green curry with chicken and more berries (awesome friends brought a ton of berries instead of cake!). I cooked the chicken in coconut oil--really good! There wasn't enough left for today so I had to make more :) That's basically what I am eating for breakfast and lunch. Mmmm...
I am giving up diet soda, but I'm easing into that--I'm down to one cup a day and only at work. The hard thing is avoiding the inevitable headaches.
I have been eating an on-off again LC diet since January, but it was still pretty carb heavy--beans, cheese, etc. Plus, I was pescetarian (former vegetarian) in an area where it is really hard to find fresh fish. I recently started eating meat again, and then I found out about the Primal Diet and LCHF--I'm kind of hooked, but it is early days. I had lost 13lbs this month through crash dieting but I basically plateaued and regained 6lbs after 2 weeks.
I'm starting Primal at 151.4lbs with a "sort of" goal of 135 (I would LOVE to get below 130, but I'm trying to keep my goals small). Luckily, I'm going on vacation to my hometown on saturday (11 days long!) and my folks have a freezer-full of venison, fish, and berries from last year's garden. Yeah, I come from a line of hunter-gatherers :)
Sorry for the biography--I won't write a novel every time I post, scout's honor!

I just wanted to say that I'm also doing Paleo with my whole family and only started about 12 days ago. I was very tired all the time before and I still am very tired but I feel that detox tired feeling. Also it takes time to heal. So don't be surprised if you don't get instant amazing results after a few days. The body knows what to do to get back into balance when it's not being disturbed from outside by inflammatory foods and lack of sleep and stress.

Hi Kim,

I too have Sarah's Everyday Paleo cookbook and the whole family is on board. I was the last one to join in. We have a six year old little boy, and he seems to be doing well with his Paleo intake. Luckily he likes vegetables and salads, but his favorites are smoothies. He will eat anything cooked in coconut milk, so Thai cuisine is his favorite.

Yeah, the whole nut thing was difficult. My son's summer camp is strict too. I make him spaghetti with meatballs and make the noodles out of zucchini with a veggie spiralizer. He calls it crunchy noodles. I make burritos in a collard green leaf which I blanch, so it doesn't fall apart. I stuff it with his favorite chicken dish. Sometimes I put shredded apples or beets to make sweet.

The hardest thing for him has been pizza, so I still let him have it when he's away from home.

I feel that by getting my son involved in the kitchen has definitely helped a great deal. Take it, more mess for me to clean up.

BTW: the cookies from Everyday Paleo have been a great hit.

Best of luck
Alexa

Half way through the month (or more) and I'm down 5 lbs. Eager to see what the inches lost are, although I don't measure that until the end of the month. Am also slowly moving my kids in this same direction (hard as they are 7 & 9 and definitely used to carbs.) I just purchased "Everyday Paleo" and am really enjoying the tips in there.

Anyone else doing this with kids? I'd love your tips! (Keeping in mind that our school is nut-free, so I can't send anything with nuts in it!)

Thanks!

Going to start my Paleo journey in July along with Physical Training any suggestions for the first month? I am so used to feeling tired and now am not having to take any xanax anymore so hooray for that. Any encouragement and or nutritional advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and have a great day!

If you are now cold turkey on the grains/sugar, you are going to feel drained while you detox. It generally takes a full week to shake it off. Are you keeping a food log or tracking your nutrition? You might want to have someone who has been Paleo for awhile take a peek and make sure you are getting enough fat and protein. Keep moving, but maybe just a bike ride, walk, or jog for the next couple days until you feel your energy start to come back, and you can up your carbs some before you exercise. I eat a banana an hour before CrossFit to boost my energy and my potassium.

Mind you, I'm Primal, not Paleo. So if any of this seems incorrect by Paleo standards, someone please correct me. Good luck!

Just started day 2. Extremely low on energy the last few days but that was expected. Had been easing into this the last few weeks and was already starting to feel drained. Wondering if i should try to keep up some exercise or forget it for the next few weeks.

Hi there! I am new to primal eating, but not new to Sparkpeople. However, I have been stuck at a plateau for a year (!) and was really looking to change my pattern of eating. I was thrilled to discover Paleo eating and am really enjoying Mark Sisson's book and website.

I started my own 30 day challenge on June 1st, so am thrilled that a SP search led me to this team. I am loving everything about this so far, and looking for new recipes daily. I feel great and can tell I am losing that bloated tummy. I weigh myself every Saturday, so am really eager to see the difference this weekend. Goodbye plateau?!?

I look forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Yes, it is June - already! Do you realize this year is almost half over... Hard to even think about, I'm just getting used to writing 2011 on things!!

I'm commiting myself this month to following the protein power for life plan and eating less than 30 grams of carbs daily, with very few exceptions to that. I just read the book and was quite impressed and it's basically what I'm been doing anyhow.

That's my commitment for the next 30 days!!!

First of all know that nothing is impossible you can do this! My advice is be dedicated to what you are doing and it really sounds like you are. Would you consider getting a personal trainer? They can work wonders and help you with motivation during the tough times. There will be tough times but I know you can do it! You can start out with the book The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson if you haven't already checked it out. Look at his website at www.marksdailyapple.com and also don't be afraid to ask questions. I hope this helps a little. I wish you the best on your journey.

I just came back from a business trip and to my horrid surprise I was weighing in at almost 225!
I have dedicated myself to trying the paleo challenge to turn the tide along with some great CrossFit workouts, I want to try to lose at least 10-15 pounds in the next 30 days. Wish me luck and give me advice! Thanks to all Spark People for your thoughts, ideas and encouragement!

I've been eating primally/paleo'ly for awhile now, but only half-heartedly and succumbing to non-paleo foods far too frequently ... I set today as the day I get serious. My son's senior year in high school and graduation, with the related stresses and parties, are past; my other son is about to finish up his school year; and things at work, though busy, are supportive of my efforts. And, I'm working with a personal trainer who is all about having me exercise in a primal manner (though she'd like me to eat more grains, but I ain't goin' there!).

I started out 2011 at 190 pounds, weighed in at 169.5 the other day, and I've dropped from 30+ to 28.8 BMI as of my measurements yesterday. I'm heading in the right direction, but at a snail's pace because I haven't been serious enough about it. (I don't expect 10 lbs a month or anything; but I don't think it's too much to expect 4 or 5 lbs a month, as opposed to the 2 lbs I've been seeing the past few months!). I know this approach to eating and living is the right thing to do for myself, for the rest of my life -- as LOSINGIT23 says below, it's a livestyle, not a marathon! I just need to make it my ultra top priority now. I kicked the Reese's and cookies habits years ago; now I have to kick a couple of other bad habits, and the way to do that is to stick to the plan for 30 days, rigidly, as Robb Wolf writes.

I will do my best to not just do well on the 30-day challenge myself but also support those of you who are making the same effort. Good luck to all of us!! We won't regret it.

Do what you can. Want what you have. Be who you are.

I am going to start my 30 day challenge in June. I went to livestrong.com and found that according to the site because of my unique health situation I should be avoiding all of the foods that the whole 30 challenge tells you to avoid! Well here is to better health. :) I wish everyone nothing but the best on their challenges and I know we will all be successful one day at a time we will learn. It's a lifestyle not a marathon!

I started my 30 day challenge 7 days ago. I'm trying to get out of the daily weigh-in habit and only weigh myself weekly. Down 4 lbs and feel leaner and tighter. Very exciting!

I started my 30 day challenge on Monday this week. It is going very well and I am losing!!!
Paleo Weight Tracking:
Day 1: 159.8 lbs
Day 2: 157.2 lbs
Day 3: 156.8 lbs
Day 4: 155.4 lbs

You are working out much harder than I am. I am doing kettlebells and swimming and taking walks. I am happy with that for now. I don't feel the need to overly push or injure myself again. This is working for me right now. I wish I could offer you some better advice. Small cheats (as long as they aren't grain) don't really hurt as long as they are controlled.

I am going to start a 30 day challenge on Monday. It will be challenge but I am going to push through it. I am hoping for great results.

I am currently training to do a survivor run. I have been doing the jogging but discovered last night I can't do any pullups. I would love to crossfit but it is not in budget right now so I will keep working at home.

Any advice for my first 30 days would be great.

Wow, that's great! You're right though...if it's free and convenient...sooo much easier not to! I'm back to working FT tomorrow after being off work for 1 month for hip surgery) so that means 5:15am work outs. I have to just say my mantra over and over "just do don't think!."

It's worth it though..it helps to psych yourself and consider it part of your work day. Maybe 1st thing in the morning to knock it out?

I loved Crossfit. It's expensive though. I've gone off and on for 5 years, as I can afford it. But I'm lucky in that I have a large shop and I set up my own xfit area. I can still do most of it here at home. Only problem...it's easier to talk yourself out of a workout if you aren't paying!

Thank you! To think I heard about going Primal from my Gluten Free for Dummies book. I am looking into crossfit to see if I am ready for it. I hope I am! It is so true that the little steps really add up. Little steps helped me get to a gluten free lifestyle and they will help me get to where I need to go.

I've heard good things about cross-fit, sounds like a tough program. Most of the trainers at my gym are on Paleo and it's amazing how many people have had doctors recommend it so you are in good company!

My only advice from years of experience battling weight is "small steps." I lost alot through WW a long time ago and one of this biggest things I learned is that this is a "lifelong lifestyle" change. Paleo works much better for me at this point in life. But ultimately, it's a personal choice whether to make changes all at once or reduce things one at at time

It's comforting to see that Paleo is not asking people to completely eliminate foods, but keep them minimal. It's also good to know that you can go off-program from time to time. There will be situations where we can't control the environment, just how we choose to handle it.

Trust me, I'm wobbly...running about 80%, but even that has changed how I feel. It's amazing!

Big congratulations to you for taking this wonderful step to a better, healthier you!

I will be starting my own personal challenge next month to just cut out all the junk and start eating healthy. I am going to check out CrossFit this month on the 16th or 17th not sure which one yet but am really looking forward to it. Does anyone have any advice? I'm used to getting creative with food and willing to take whatever time is needed to adjust this to my needs.

The cool thing is the CrossFit woman I talked to on the phone told me they just had a seminar with a doctor who was recommending Paleo! :) They are pricey but how much would you really pay for your health?

emoticon Hi Everyone. Since our 30 day challenge is now officially over, how about everyone sharing how it went.

Here is my report: As of January 31, in four weeks I lost 8 pounds following the Paleo Diet. I noticed increased energy, stable and more positive moods, improved health, and a great month of being with the support of folks on this thread. Thank you all for joining with me and making it worthwhile.

Some of you will have melted off the pounds and may think 8 pounds is hardly worth the effort. However, there are a number of things to consider:

1. I am a senior. My past dieting history, once I turned 50 was a challenge (I am now in my 60's. Low calorie, low fat diets always left me hungry or thinking about food all the time and yielded a net result of about 1/2 a pound a week. I just couldn't sustain feeling irritable and grumpy and at times shaky and horrible and those diets didn't last long.) In contrast, this way of eating has been a real blessing.

2. This is a lifestyle change - for me a slow, steady weight loss that will allow my skin time to shrink and not leave me with waving extra skin. This is one that I can sustain over time not only to lose weight but to maintain the weight loss.

3. Improvements in health is another bonus.

4. Adaptability to various social engagements and eating out.

5. In addition to a way of eating I enjoy, it is also easy to plan, easy to track, easy to shop for, easy to prepare ... this has been a real learning curve for me.

6. I now follow a simple plan for meals:
Breakfast - Protein, 2-3 Vegetables, 1 Fruit
Lunch - Protein, Large leafy lettuce with vegetables Salad, Fruit
Supper - Protein, Vegetable Slaw, 2 cooked vegetables of differing colours (one green - one orange, yellow, purple).
Snack - Fruit & Protein or Nuts.

Notes for the Future:
a. As soon as I get my cookbooks, I plan to add soup as an alternative to salad to my lunch.
b. I will join the challenge on the other Paleo thread for February
c. I will aim to lose 1 pound a week.
d. I will follow my food outline and exercise plan.

emoticon Not there yet, but on my way!
