I'm not sure what the other two smoothies come in at calorie/carb-wise, so this may not help you much, but mine looks like this:

1 c. frozen blueberries (unsweetened, of course)
1/2 c. canned coconut milk *and* 1/2 c. water (or you can use 1 cup of the refrigerated coconut milk--again unsweetened, of course; I don't like all the additives in that, but it would work fine)
2 egg yolks (from pastured hens)

Sometimes I stream in an additional 1 T. coconut oil.

I've been having a hard time finding a berrie/combo smoothie that I really like so I was very interested to see what you had here. After I loaded them into the recipe builder I found that they were too high cal/carb for me - however you did give me some ideas to try to make mine taste better - so thank you for sharing your creations!

I put my eggs in my smoothie, lol. Although my smoothies aren't quite a calorie dense to begin with. I don't count calories (or anything else), so I don't know how many I have per day, but it's definitely not a small amount. I'm still losing. I think one of the big mistakes people trying to lose weight do is to eat too little food. When you do that your metabolism slows down and you will actually have more difficulty losing weight. If you are eating high quality food, your appetite is a pretty good guide.

That said, keep in mind that DramaticClimax is 18, so he needs a lot more calories than those of us who are older with less active lifestyles.

I have a question about smoothies..... how can you drink a smoothie with that many calories *and* eat eggs for breakfast.... and lose weight? That's a LOT of calories, primal or not.

My body won't do that, and I'm trying to figure out how other folks manage it.

DRAMATICCLIMAX the green smoothie sounds great :)

You may want to check out the fillers (if any) in the yogurt? I cannot tolerate corn products - and found when I did have yogurt before paleo, some would bother me more then others, my son is the same, but he is lactose intolerant (as am I, most Celiacs are). The full fat yogurts he can tolerate with an enzyme, but the 'low fat' etc that rely on 'fillers' to make them thick - make him sick :)

Best of luck

haha I tend to feel better after having lactose free dairy. Or dairy with minimal amount of lactose.

While I do have troubles with full lactose, like what is found in dairy, I seem to have no troubles at all with the Fage Greek yogurt, while on the other hand, I have plenty of troubles with the Oikos greek yogurt.

I just saw all the fruit and the dairy and thought maybe you were doing a Primal Blueprint-style plan. I'm closer to Primal than I am to Paleo--although I don't generally use dairy since it can bother my tummy. Most of the plans are all pretty similar anyway.

No worries. I was actually a little bit worried if I had come off as rude or anything. I don't think I was in the best mood.

Sorry if that sounded judgmental; I didn't mean it that way. I was just curious. I do a modified version myself.

A modified one. I work with what can be afforded and what I can digest, what makes my body feel best. Which is minimal meat. Compensate with eggs and protein powder. -shrugs- I know it's not the most paleo plan, but the full paleo plans make me feel...just horrible. I'm adding in probiotics (in the form of yogurt) and digestive enzymes (in the form of bone broth). Thats the best I can do for now.

Okay, so these are the two smoothies I drink everyday, along side something solid. I eat every meal with something liquid and something solid. Both are made in the vitamix, which by the way, is running amazingly, even standing tough through my parent's drinking party, where they made at least 10 or so drinks in one night, two nights in a row.

This first smoothie is great for mornings, it packs a bit of a carb punch, but if you even it out with a side of eggs, it's the best breakfast to wake up for! The taste of this smoothie kind of reminds me of Green Apple Jolly Ranchers. (Adapted from the Vitamix Basic Green Smoothie) It's easier for me to make this all year long, because where I live, it generally stays about...70 to 110 degrees, but you can change it up for what is in season.

Green Smoothie

Makes 4 moderate meals or 2 huge meals

Ingredients;
2 cups water
1 cup banana (1 medium banana)
1 cup orange (half of a large orange)
1 cup green grapes
1 cup fresh (not canned) pineapple (they sell it cheap here)
4 cups greens of choice (spinach is always cheap here and gives a nice bite)

Directions;
Then you just toss it in the blender and whiz it till its at the consistency you want.
(For vitamix users, add the ingredients as listed, set the variable speed to 1, secure the lid, then turn it on, quickly turn it up to 10, then flip it to high and let it run for about 30 to 45 seconds. If you don't drink it quick enough, the main liquid will settle and a thick layer of foam will sit on top)

Berry Protein Chocolate Smoothie

This one has a moderate fat amount. I haven't figured out what solid food goes best with this, though. Has a much lower carb amount then the earlier one, but still has a banana, so the carbs are elevated. This is a creation of my own and still very much in experimental stage, but it packs a good punch in the fat and protein section and tastes amazing.

Makes a large meal for one person, or a moderate meal for two.

Ingredients;
1 to 2 cups coconut milk (full fat canned or from a milk carton, I would add 2 tbsp coconut oil either way)
Plain Greek Yogurt (I use Fage. It has a richer flavor then Oikos)
1 scoop protein powder (I use Progressive 100% organic whey protein, chocolate, has 23 grams of protein and no carbs)
1 cup Blueberries (frozen, Not sweetened)
1 medium banana
1 square dark chocolate (I use 85 to 90% dark chocolate)
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Directions;
Same directions as above. If you're not using a Vitamix, or something of equal power, I would set the chocolate out in a warm place to get soft before blending it.
