This fact is true. I try to be careful of who I say something too. If there is an indication towards health I jump at the chance but do it slowly. Referring more to myself when I talk. That way if they are interested they can ask. I have gone up to total strangers but not sure if I insulted them or not so I stopped. When you SIL is results she might start asking question. Be an example in front of her.

I just joined the Sparks community and am still trying to figure out how to navigate the boards, and the way the system works. The wheel isn't something I am familiar with. I just found this board as well. I will use this week to help keep track of my foods, log them in. I like the fact that the Spark people boards let you have all these tools at your fingertips instead of needing to go to other places to record your food, exercise, the calories.

My nutrition goal this week is to track all of my eating- I use myfitnesspal app on my phone (if you want to add me, my name is McVarley on there too), and to eat as clean as possible (starting to do the Eat Clean Diet). My fitness goal this week is to bike ride at least 3-4 times and do some aerobics/weight lifting at least twice.

I will be walking every day for this week, at least 1 mile if not more. Since I am pretty lax in my exercise this will be a good incentive to get up and get moving.

Time for a new goal of the week! This week's goal is to do one exercise or activity outside this week (weather permitting!). It has been super nice here and I'm sure its been warming up all over WY so I think we should all get out and enjoy it. Go for a walk, run, hike, or play an outdoor sport, play with kids, whatever! Get out and get moving!!!

Seems like our little group is MIA lately. So I'm posting this goal here and sending out an email to all. We need to get back to basics. This weeks goal will be to drink all our water every day this week. Water is so important to our weight loss efforts and with the weather getting warmer we really need to focus on this! I don't want anyone getting sick or dehydrated! Good luck and keep up the good work!

AmyAnn, I hope you can get on here more. I know with the nicer weather it gets harder and harder to do so. Try and give yourself a certain time period - like making a date with your computer and SP. :) Take care. Rooting for you.

Ok, time for a new Goal of the Week. I haven't been very good at getting on sparkpeople lately so I really need to work on this. Not sure how the rest of you are doing, but I haven't seen much activity here lately so I think our goal should be to talk to at least on other Wyoming sparker this week and see how he/she is doing. Try to motivate each other, read each other's blogs, discuss your journey, and mostly just work on being stronger team members all around! Good luck everyone!

Honestly I did not do well with last weeks goal! It was pure laziness on my part, no excuses! So, this week I really need to focus and make sure I'm working hard to stay on track.

Goal for the coming week: find at least one person in your life who has made a positive change for him/herself. It could be weight loss, adding exercise, accomplishing a goal, etc. Let that person know how proud you are and how inspirational they are. When we encourage others and help them out we feel better about ourselves and can have new motivations! Good luck!

This is one thing that really opened my eyes. I would track and then go to the full report. Look at what was in the different foods and look at the pie chart. There was some real surprises.

This weeks goal is to track all your food, either on SP or on your own. See where your calories are going! It really helps us stay on track if we know what we are eating, when we are eating it and in some cases WHY we are eating. Good luck everyone!

Schwin Cruiser (these have no gears) at Walmart. Ours was $124 and I think the tow behind was fifty. We didn't get one but my Hubby was looking at something and I'm assuming that is what it was for his rc planes.

Thanks AmyAnn.

I did get my two days of strength training in.

My Hubby and I bought some bicycles. We have a large parking lot behind our apartment building which we ride on. Three days a week will do great with that. Also walking to work. Leg is a bit sore (right thigh muscle) but is coming along. When it feels better I'll start walking home from work too.

I didn't do great with the strength training because I got sick (AGAIN) and wasn't able to do it Wed, Thur, or today. I'm going to keep working on it and add more strength training as I go. As for this weeks goal I think we should continue working on fitness. I was thinking 20minutes of working out at least 3 days this week (feel free to do more if you are more advanced than others who may have just started). Good luck everyone!

Just entered the thread. If I understand correctly, last week's challenge was 2 days strength training. As it happens, I had two cross training sessions scheduled and used the elliptical plus did 2 sets each of five different arm machines at the gym. My goal is to increase the distance I can hit the golf ball this summer. I went out yesterday and played six holes with my husband. I have to say, 5 of my 6 drives were longer and straighter. Please include me in the challenges from now on. Have a great week.

Great job Needshelp! I haven't done traditional exercising, but I have been playing outside with my kids for at least 20-30 minutes a day (They've been sick again or it would have been all day!). Since its Friday again, it is time to come up with a new goal.

I think this week we should work more on our fitness so lets go for a strength training goal. So the goal for this week is to do strength training at least 2 days this week. If you need ideas look under your sparkpeople fitness page and there should be a link for strength exercises and even videos to show how they are done. Good luck everyone!

Sorry I have been slacking on the weekly goals the last few weeks. Time to get back in the groove of things. I think this week we should work on a fitness aspect of our life so this weeks goal is to do 10 minutes of exercise a day. That can be 10 minutes of walking, running, jumping jacks, whatever you like and want to do! Good luck everyone!

I just wrote down my plan for water intake so I can improve.

Sorry I haven't made a goal for this week yet! I have been really busy with the kids and things and been slacking on the sparkpeople front! So, for (the rest of) this week something really easy sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking our goal should be to drink at least 4 8oz glasses of water. I know sparkpeople guidelines say 8 8oz glasses, but some of us are just starting and we need to help them work up to it! Good luck everyone! And I promise this Friday I will think of a great goal for next week.

I bought Dole Fruit Chillers. Its in the canned fruit isle, comes in individual containers that you freeze and eat. I LOVED it! I got the Arctic Strawberry flavor and tried it the other day. Very good. They have 170 calories each and 45g carbs. A little high on the carb end, but if you need to watch your carbs this is a good "once in a while" treat. I hope everyone else is having fun finding new desserts!

For our goal, I told my aunt about sparkpeople. She's been thin most of her life, except for a short period when she was married to her second husband and gained about 60lbs. I dont know if she will join, but she seems to be happy for me and the progress I've made so far. I'm hoping I can get more of my family on here because most (not all) of them have extra weight they need to lose and I want all of them to be healthier. We'll see!

For the new goal of the week I thought we could all try a new (healthy) dessert. Something yummy and satisfying that is good for us! Whatever you decide to try, please share with us! Whether its something you make yourself or buy at the store let us know what it is and how it tastes!

One of our training managers is looking to lose weight and I just happen to hear about it. Told her about SP but haven't heard anything back yet. Will investigate further. She seemed interested but that is the usual reaction I get. Most times I never see the person again. I use to print up SP "business cards" to give out. Don't have my printer right now so can't do it that way. Plus when I walk in the nice warm weather I wear my SP tee shirts and talk to people that way when I see them on the track or exercising. I try not to offend anyone but I think I do now and then. Just want to help.

Goal for this week

Tell at least one person about sparkpeople. Someone who you have not yet told about what you are doing here. It can be anyone you want to share with or someone you think might need help reaching their own goals. This is to help us accomplish two things. First, we will be helping out or motivating someone we know personally (as in, not an internet friend). Second, we help ourselves by letting others know what we are trying to do, what goals we want to accomplish, and how we are working toward them.
Let us know who you told (don't have to give names, just say friend, family member, co-worker, etc.) and how they reacted. Are they going to join us? Were they happy for you? How do they feel about sparkpeople?

My new recipe for this week was Chicken and Vegetables from the Easy Slow Cooker Cookbook by Barbera C Jones. I loved it! My husband and kids wouldn't eat it. Oh well, their loss! I had leftovers a couple times for lunch that way emoticon

Here is the recipe, I did NOT put the cheese on top at the end. I did this to lower the calories and fat in the recipe. The nutrition information at the end is without the cheese on top.

Chicken and Vegetables

4-5 Skinless Chicken Breast Halves
2 teaspoons Seasoned Salt
1 16oz package frozen Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Carrots, thawed
1 10oz can Cream of Celery Soup
1 8oz package Shredded Cheddar-Jack Cheese

Cut chicken into stips and place chicken strips sprinkled with seasoned salt in a slow cooker sprayed with vegetable cooking spray (I used olive oil spray)

In large bowl combine vegetables, celery soup, and half cheese. Mix well, spoon over chicken.

Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.

About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle remaining cheese on top of casserole. (I skipped this step to reduce calories/fat.)

*Be sure you don't over cook it. 4 -5 hours should be plenty of time. My mother in law made it and cooked it about 7-8 hours because she was working and the veggies were way overdone and it wasn't as good.

From what I can remember the mango has a darkish red with some green when it is ripe. The fruit is not hard but firm, somewhat juicy and delicious. Hope you have better success next time.

My new recipe was Orange Cranberry Relish which I have fallen in love with. Not sure of calories yet but will try and find out. Two oranges, a bag of whole cranberries, and about 2/3 cup of sugar. Course ground in a food processor. The recipe called for 3/4 cup of sugar but that was a tad too sweet for us.

Trying a new recipe now and then has been one of my New year';s resolutions.

At least you tried Needshelp! That is all that counts. Maybe in the future if you try it again it will be better. I bought a mango to try and was going to eat it with breakfast, but I dont think it was ripe. It was very hard and had almost no flavor. I guess I will try it again when they are in season and see if I like it then. Do you have any tips for picking a good mango? I would really appreciate it if you know how to select a good one!!

As for Week 3 I thought we could all try one new recipe. Doesn't matter what meal or how complicated the recipe is, as long as we all try something we've never made before. After you have tried it let us all know how it was and if you want, share the recipe with the rest of us!

I love mango and pomegranate. Had a pomegranate tree in our yard at one of the places we lived.

My new fruit is a persinamon (sorry don't know how to spell it). Already tried it and bah humbug. Maybe we had a bad one or something. Don't really know how to eat one so we ate it straight out of the skin. One lady told us about making it into jelly or something. We just won't get one again for a long while. :)

Tried the asparagus with lunch....it was yummy! I really loved it. Can't wait to try a new fruit this week. Thinking maybe mango or pomegranate. I've never had either so we'll see what I can find at the grocery store. Good luck finding something new everyone!

So I haven't tried my new veggie yet, but I plan on trying it with lunch today. I bought some fresh asparagus and was going to steam it, maybe put a small amount of butter, garlic & pepper on it. Can't wait to try it and see what if I like it!

As for week 2 I thought we'd stick with the same idea. Goal for week 2: Try a new fruit. I know this might be hard because a lot of fruit is out of season, but if you can go ahead and try something new. Maybe we can get a little variety in our diets by trying new healthy things every week!

This sounds fun and interesting. Thanks for the information! I hate vegetables - period! So, I will try a new vegetable and see what else I can add to my dislike column - gotta eat them, don't gotta enjoy them!

This sounds like fun. I have been off spark for a while and I'm really wanting to get back with it and get my lifestyle back to an active healthy one. As far as a new vegetable I haven't been able to try anything new this week due to working out of town and having to eat things I can make in a microwave but I will try to do that soon and I am looking forward to the weekly goals!

Samantha :)

I thought we could try doing a new goal every week. Something healthy that anyone no matter what age, gender, fitness level, etc, can participate in. If you have ideas for a Goal of the Week just let me know either here or through SparkMail and I will post it. For the first week I thought we could all try one new vegetable this week. Try to find something you've never had and give it a shot. It may be your new favorite vegetable! Post here and let everyone know what you tried, how you cooked/prepared it, and what you thought (liked, didn't like, would eat again, etc.) Hope everyone joins me!!
