Lol....that is funny....right before Sunday School, I was asked if I would do nursery during the church service. Must have been something contagious this past Sunday...lol. But it was okay, it got me out of singing in choir for one Sunday. Don't get me wrong, I love singing in the choir, but a change of pace is nice once in a while :)

We were all dressed and ready to leave for church this AM when the phone rang. It was the wife of one of the pastors calling to ask if I would do the 1 yr old nursery this morning during the 10:45 service. So I said yes. I have a hard time telling her NO. She is such a kind gentle woman! There were 14 1 yr olds (2 adults and 2 teen girls to help). One of these days, I'll learn not to answer the phone before church (no probably not!)

Today was the first day of school for my kids, which means a change of schedule for all of us. I'm also the principal of our school so my morning routine was different. I have some refining to do in order to get my exercise in before the day starts.

I actually like to exercise but it seems like I have a hard time fitting it in or getting motivated. In the Summer I love to go for a walk with our dog because when I get back home, I feel so good. With it being so humid, I haven't been out to walk in a few days...planning to get back to it tonight.

I can't say I enjoy exercise all the time. I do enjoy it mostly. I would say right now I exercise more because I want to lose weight. I do not think I would stop once I lost weight, but maybe not as much as I do right now.

I was wondering what exercise people prefer. And do you exercise because you enjoy it or because it is necessary?

Happy Monday...

It is beautiful here in PA but I so wish I was home today. So so tired.

I have a protection on my computer which is free that blocks web sites we may not want our kids to get on and thought I would share (or web sites we could accidentally get on--way too easy to do in this day and age) It is called K9 Web Protection. Google it and check it out. It is free and I've had on our computer since last year. A man in our Sunday School class told the class about it. I think it is great and feel so much better about my daughter being on the web because it blocks anything that may have content you may deem inappropriate. I have even had to override a couple sites that I use (itunes) but worth it. It also keeps track of web use, etc.

it is unbearable here. I can tolerate being outside until about 2 pm. When it gets to be about 101 with heat indexes in the 115...UGH! Praise the Lord for friends with pools. I think I have my husband convinced of getting one really soon!! emoticon emoticon

It is hot, sunny & muggy here in PA. Loving it! Hope I have some time to enjoy outside this weekend--not sure I will.
Schools out as of yesterday and my daughter is so excited that it is Summer vacation. Went to my niece's graduation last night. Can't believe how fast time goes. My sister-in-law was pregnant with her when me and hubby got married.
Have a great weekend you all!

Pastor Greg...Sounds like you had a great time. I love to take the time when we drive and look at the beauty of God's work. On Saturday we had a quick thunderstorm and saw a double rainbow in front of our home. It was so beautiful and my daughter said God's promise twice.

Had a missionary from China on Sunday at our church. His name is Mr. Childs. We weren't able to go the evening presentation as we had plans with my husband's family (Nephew's 21st B-Day) but he spoke in our Sunday school and his testimony had an impact on both myself and my husband.

Have a good week! L emoticon

I was able to take my children, nieces, brother and father on a four hour ATV ride up on a beautiful mountain today. I live at about 3700 ft in elevation and we rode up to about 9000 ft. It was beautiful and honoring to God. I can't quantify the calories burned, but we burned a lot of em'.

The trip to Grand Canyon was great!

One of the really neat things about our church family is that most of us do not have family here so we are really close. Since some of our church family has unsaved relatives, they actually are much closer to us than their biological family.

Lisa,

That is awesome for your daughter. When my sister and I were growing up we always wanted to live near each otehr so our children could grow up together. we do make it a priority to see each other as much as we can. Our kids are very close, and so is the relationship with her kids and me. I feel like they are my own. Likewise with my children and she.

I do hear you about reasoning. We visitied with my husbands family for Christmas and there is such a difference in what is right and wrong. they do not see the wrong in letting our children watch anything on tv. I will say this has been a problem in the past, but they do go to great lengths to support our decisions and not allow it to happen. His sisters husband hopefully will ge the hint one day. it is hard to explain your convictions to unlearned people. We do not make a big fuss or get all out of whack about the issue. We just quietly make it known, such as going outside, leaving, or playing games. My family on the other hand, whew! It is complete opposite. We both come from Catholic familes. His are actual practicing Catholics. My side tries to do the whole once a year confession to feel good about themselves after. HA!(that is sarcastic BTW) It is sad. At least with his side of the family there is some sort of commitmment. If we can only show them the way of their error in a CHrist like manner, what dedicated true Chrsitians they would be. My side are flaming liberals. In your face, no hold bars, name callers! They mock and make fun of us and tell other people in our family how holier than thou we think we are. And the funny thing about that is we say nothing! Praise the Lord for our being able to maintain a testimony around Sodom and Ghomorrah! The in your face liberals are my aunts and uncles, of whom I was very close to growing up.(it is very heartbreaking)I will say, my mom, sister, and brother are saved. SOme may not have the same convictions as we, but they support our decisions even if they do not agree or understand. Nothing different than other people in our church with their convictions. God deals with every one in His way and on His time. Whew! where did all this come from. Oh Yeah! I sure miss my mom, sis, and brother. Take advantage of the time you have with your family, as I see you are doing. I am happy for you and your daughter!!

Shelly

Hopefully on your break you were able to go outside and get some fresh air!!

Hey Shelly--That is great that your sister is expecting. I love my church family but it is so nice to have my sisters near me. Because I need to work, my daughter spends time with each one of my sisters and my mom & dad during the summer months. It helps take away the guilt I feel for having to leave her to know she is forging relationships with all of her cousins. It is also good to know she is in environments that they believe as I do and she is not subjected to things (television/music) I don't approve of. Reasoning why the other part of the family doesn't feel we are doing right because they think we should let "her grow up" and "let her do and see things" like other kids. That is another long story;) Just have to keep praying for our loved ones...
It is so beautiful here today in PA. I'm eating my lunch looking out the window at my desk--I so want to be outside at home.
Take care and Blessings...

Pastor Greg...I've looked at your Spark page and your wife's spark page and think it is wonderful that you two are doing this together. God has blessed with you with a beautiful family!!

My husband, Keith, started watching this winter but he doesn't like the computer so he did the old fashion way...giggle...--non computer...He lost 20 lbs by cutting out junk food at work and in the evenings and now all his numbers are good. He has high blood pressure but that is a family thing he cannot control but through meds. I guess I should have started watching with Keith but sometimes stress and not feeling well this winter, I turned to food. I'm happy that my wonderful husband is helping me now with my journey. He is so encouraging to me and I now know there is no more fooling anyone...I have to do this not just for me but to be here for my family and to be a good example to my 13-year old daughter.

My family all live in close to me so I love to get together with my mom & dad, 3 sisters and 10 nieces and nephews. I feel safe with my family to be who I am and talk about my love of Jesus. I actually attend the same church as my two younger sisters and I love greeting them every Sunday a.m.

Have fun with your family on your trip to the Grand Canyon.

I'm headed to the Grand Canyon tomorrow (North Rim). I only live 2 1/2 hours away but I haven't been there for almost 14 years. My parents and my brother and his family are here visiting. My sister lives here as well so we are all going together (14 people) in one van. I'm really looking forward to it. We are all believers and have great fellowship.

Keep going forward and the Lord will help.

Having my morning coffee at my desk and decided to write on the coffee shop thread!!
I'm excited to be back on track and find it challenging to try and keep my calories in check along with tracking the cholesterol I eat. I read that if you have high bad cholesterol, you should try to keep it to 200 per day. Believe me that is very challenging. An egg has 222!!
Excited that our Penguin Team won a game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I really don't care if they win--they are a really young team but I wanted them to at least score in the series.
It is only 9:10 a.m. and I already feel so tired. Feeling under the weather which could be a cold or my allergies. My allergies have put havoc on me the last 8 months...we still are trying to keep them in check which is not easy because I'm allergic to the indoor allergins. I praise God that the doctor got them more under control with the nose sprays I have to do now.
It is a beautiful day here in PA and I'm so glad I have a window that I can see the sunny sky in my office. I'm looking forward to going home tonight and being with my family.
Any big plans for Summer for anyone? Not here...probably will make the fairs around the area and that is about it this year.
Have a great Thursday!
God Bless...L

Also, I found this website in one of my parenting magazine www.freerice.com. It's so neat. When you get to this website all you do is read a word and try to guess the right definition. When you get it right, 10 grains of rice is donated to some foreign country for starving people. It's a quick way to help those in need, especially if you don't have the money to just send over there, ya know! emoticon

I'm not sure who does WATP but I found a way to track the right amount on the fitness tracker. I know Amy didn't know at one time.
But for those who would like to know, you are supposed to put in a 15 minute/mile and however many minutes you actually walked for. I found this on one of my other spark teams and it helped me to know about it. They said they talked to someone from the Leslie Sansone customer service and they said all the arm motions and leg movements equaled 15 minute/mile calorie burn. Hope this helps! emoticon

Did anyone read the article on the sidebar today about the People magazine feature? That was so encouraging to me. We don't know one another, but we can spur each other on. We need each other. I, for one, can't do it alone...

Praise the Lord, Brenda! It's a daily struggle, but God's grace is sufficient!

You go Brenda!! It seems like whatever we are struggling with in our lives, God always gives us the answers we need when we listen closely:)

I didn't have that great of a day yesterday. I went to bed feeling defeated and wanting to give up, and then I did my devotions. God showed me the verse that the narrow is the way to life, but wide is the path of destruction. He encouraged me not to give up again, and I thank Him for still being willing to work on me. Isn't He an awesome God we serve? Anyway, I got up this morning and put in 45 minutes of cardio and feel great. Just wanted to praise the Lord today...

I'm so happy it is Wednesday. Will have Bible Study tonight and my daughter will be a Teen Group at our church.
Got home last evening from work and my wonderful husband and daughter had packed up all the ornaments and the tree was coming down. This enabled me to start getting the regular household chores done! We keep our tree up because I always have New Year's Eve for my 3 sisters and our families.

Congrats on getting the exercise in!!! It is a hard thing to do.

I always take my christmas tree down the day after christmas. It is early, but with the 3 kids, I have so many toys that I need some extra space!!!

Just checking in...

I am doing well and logging my menus. I'm working on making healthier choices for both me and family meals.

I exercised for the 1st time in ages yesterday. I did one of my walking dvds but I then didn't feel well again--achy feeling. I'm not going to let that stop me because I need to exercise.

I'm hoping to get my Christmas tree down tonight. I just havn't felt like taking down yet with being under the weather. I do enjoy still turning on lights as it is so pretty.

Have a wonderful blessed week!

I personally have resolved to have no resolutions. Every year I make a resolution, I never keep it. I'd rather just work on myself all year long and not have the reminder in my head, WELL I FAILED HERE, I KNOW I'LL FAIL AT THIS TOO.
