Hey sweetie....you wont burst the ball....promise!! Been there....thought I would too....and much to my surprise I did not! But don't pump it up all the way..I did that the first time and rolled right off....nearly killed me and my cat(who HATES the ball with passion, he looks at it like it will attack him emoticon ).....so anyways, give it a try and report back...cause the first time you are on one of those balls is always humorous!

Sitting on my stability ball right now doing some crunches. I read a good tip about trading your chair for a stability ball. Good for the abs. Taking it to work tomorrow.Rollin' around the office on my stability ball. (could confirm suspicions of inasanity, Lol) At least I have 2 other co-workers who are exercising soo much.

Linda of Nashville is an expert and bellyrolls and other bellymoves. She can even move her bellybutton around in a circle. I took a belly roll workshop where she taught some of the moves. I have never sweated so much without moving my feet.

If it weren't for gravity and law enforcement, nothing could stop me.

Yay new members - maybe I'll have time to welcome everyone tonight.

Lana should have some input on that horizontal belly roll - 'cause I've seen Fathiem do it live, and it is scary!

I've seen Delilah do it in person and it's very disturbing. :)

Seriously, while I can appreciate her muscle control, that particular move doesn't do anything for me, and even if I could do it, I don't think it would be part of my repertoire.

BTW: Delilah taught the horizontal belly roll as if you were standing on the face of a clock. You push your bellybutton out towards 12:00, then 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 etc. When you get to the back, you think of pushing the bellybutton to the back, which sucks your belly in. Don't know if that helps, but I thought it was an interesting way to teach it.

Something that helps me in Suhaila's crazy drills is actually touching the body part that we're working on. Like for 3/4 shimmy, put your hands on your hips, and "help" the hip along by pushing the hip down. Or for belly rolls, pushing in with your hand on the area that is supposed to push in. Or maybe I just like touching myself .... LOL.

I like the idea about the fold! That's pretty much where mine start, but they don't go very low. If you watch Fathiem do these, it seems like her whole torso is rolling. Sigh.

haven't developed much control yet, so I just start where my belly wants so start
might just be going in and out but my brain hurts enough when I do it that it feels like a roll.

Definite on those "no" emoticons.

Did a few bellyrolls at class - Egyptian twist happened in the restroom at work.

Amanda - stooped over - read the post on the toilet! C'mon, y'all gotta give me credit on that one.

One thing that Des teaches in her workshops is to bend forward and find the spot on your abdomen where a fold form. That's the point that your roll will begin. I think most people try to start them too high up.

I am starting to get more movement going on the belly rolls, the whole moving the bellybutton in a vertical circle and all
but I absolutely can't do them in a horizontal position even that much

Belly rolls

- somebody told me once to practice them while you're stooped over, so all your belly muscles are relaxed. I think it helps. I practice them like this but mine still suck.

Usually you'll find one part of it is where you "stick" and that's where the roll gets messed up. For me, it's pushing out the upper abs. Supposedly if you drill the parts around the "stuck" part long enough, you'll be able to do the move smashingly.

The jury is still out for me and smashingly good belly rolls.

Wish I did!!! The funniest trick I had in learning was to try them sitting down (ie - the toilet! LOL) leaning forward on my elbows. For some reason the upper and lower section separated better. Weird!

The Egyptian Twist is pretty much the same move we worked on in July when I was doing the wing number. That same video is the example I used, too. It's a very good one.

Camels - there's a good example video for that in the same series as the Egyptian Twist one - okay - get some of those in class tomorrow night, ditto on the rolls.

Let's do some Egyptian twists this week. Try doing these with hand weights, or if you dont own hand weights maybe use cans of food to give your arms a little extra weight.

Also, let's do The Camel.Try doing these moves for 3-4 minutes each.

I dont know about you but Halloween and some other issues have caused me to start losing focus. So, I am gonna make a personal challenge for myself to be consistent everyday. I will report back here so I can be held accountable. I think I will add 100 belly rolls everyday for myself to do. Why dont you join in and add a personal challenge for yourself here too? We can get re-focused together.

When all is said & done...have fun!
