Create your own "Monthly Mix" - Your own collection of songs to dance to for the month. Dance it through as many times a week as you can.
Since belly dance is one of my primary physical activities, I've gotten into the habit of making a "Monthly Mix" of music to use when I'm out taking walks, when I'm doing the household chores and ultimately, when I'm dancing in the living room.
Students ask me.. How do I pick music for my "Monthly Mix?" My advice? Use the music that MAKES you move. So as the month goes by, I realize which items are on the "Monthly Mix" that I don't love.. and well.. I simply replace them. And of course - songs can reappear month-after-month - especially if your working on developing a set of combos or a choreo.
