I have a new WHAT motivating me: I am seriously preparing to donate a kidney. The first doctor, despite having the reputation of being tactless and harsh, was kind to me when I said I wanted to donate. He said, "I know you want to, but it's not...", and then he lowered his head and paused.
I finished the sentence for him: "... NOT likely." He nodded his head, and I said, "I know, but I'll try." MY doctor said the only reason I'd be turned down is my weight; other than that, I'm doing well physically AND reduced my medications. Then I learned I have to lose 40# more than expected.
At first it was daunting...
... but I'm working on it!
I posted several affirmations on my computer desk, keyboard, lap desk, and coupon purse (with me whenever I go out). They help, but the impact seems to fade. However, I found another, adapted from the "Hoarders" show, which has a strong effect and pulls me through these rough times.
Here it is:
"HOW IS EATING THIS GOING TO AFFECT MY GOAL OF LOSING WEIGHT AND DONATING MY KIDNEY?"
Donating also reminds me of my son Scott, of course, so that's an extra motivation to hang in there, and make it through one more day!
