I had a question for any of you that have done Ripped in 30. I just did Week 2 Day 2 but I have a problem with one move so I was wondering if you had a modification. It's the move where you start out sitting with your legs in front of you and place your hands on the ground to lift your butt up then swing upwards. (not sure if I explained that right) Anyways, my arms seem to be too short to do that. Any modification or advice?

Thanks Ali , Trust me I am not good but I am trying my best.Next on my list is 6 packs 6 week ,I really want to get rid of fat from my mid section.Lets see how it goes.Even if we dont get what we want, I know we are still getting close to our goals emoticon .

Week 4 is brutal!!! Great job sticking with it! You did better than I did in RI 30, I didn't it 5 days a week for 4 weeks & I couldn't wait to finish!

I found my knee support in the sports section of Target. It was just a simple elastic sleeve that went on my knee. It helped a lot when I was having issues. Good luck to you!

It makes me feel better that I am not alone..Its kind a work in progress here too.
I will continue to do my week four work out this coming week then start 6 packs 6 week in December.

Day 2 week 4.
Knee support ! I can try that,is it something for exercising or its common one that is used for everyday knee pain.I feel the pain when I try to take my back knee all the way down near the ground during lunges.I am also working on push up,still not able to do the real ones. emoticon

I did think of that, and double checked myself and I'm doing them right. They never used to hurt, just in the past 3 weeks or so. I did 30DS in Sept, RI30 in Oct, and now the 30 Day Slim Down for Nov. I'm still going to do JM workouts in Dec, but only 3 or 4 a week and then I'll use my elliptical on the other days.

This may sound stupid, but have u all checked your form on the lunges & squats? If your knees extend past your toes, it can hurt a lot. I'm sure u already checked that, but just thought it was worth mentioning. I had to buy a knee support when I first started the shred that helped too.

Saimsam - I'm glad you'll be on board for the December Check In! Keep up the good work with RI 30!

FYI - some of her workouts are also on You Tube, I just took a look at Yoga Meltdown. I'm not very familiar with yoga but some of the moves i saw (I didn't sit in front of my computer watching the entire 30 min workout!) were from other JM workouts. I may incorporate it into my December routine :)

Karen- I am having the same problem, my knees are the only thing that hurts in lunges,I was thinking that may be its because of my weight,other than knees everything is perfect.
"December check in"thread seems perfect ,we can do what ever we want to, and keep each other updated and motivated.Count me in. emoticon

Karen-(Ohio) You gave me a good idea to borrow them from the library ,try then buy it.I know all of her DVDs are very good but trying them before buying is better.Thanks for the motivation,we all are in it together and we can do it. emoticon

Saim, I also really like the JM workouts however after 2.5 months of doing them I'm starting to have knee pain. I'm going to finish up my November program and then cut back the number of times per week that I use her DVDs in December and then use my elliptical on the days I don't use a DVD. Speaking of Dec, I hope you will join us on what we will call the "December Check In" thread. We have decided to all stick together to provide motivation & friendship while doing whatever workout we want to do, be it JM or something else.

You aren't the only one that got obsessed with JM's workouts. I bought almost all of them too, but not the Biggest Loser ones. First I would borrow them from my local library, then when I liked them, I went out and got them. Good luck! Keep up the good work.

I cant wait to see the results.I think am getting obsessed with Jillian Micheal's workout.Every plan is so good that I may end up buying all of them.Sunday was my rest day, I did not workout but walked for like almost three hours. I was still tired this morning and will start week 4 tomorrow.

Congrats on finishing week 3!

I have lost 3 pounds so far, was hoping for more because I heard that this workout gets great results. I'm hoping that with the intensity picking up now that I'll see more pounds lost. As for inches I won't know until tomorrow. I wanted to get officially half way done with the workouts before measuring.

The workout is 30 days and she has scheduled rest days, unlike RI30 when you choose your own. You can flip them around if you need to. Next Wed is a rest day but Thurs is Thanksgiving so I'll be switching the two around.

Week 4 was easier! It was still hard but easier to do after week 3's torture. We started the 30 day slim down on Nov 1st. It's a rotation designed by Jillian using 3 DVDs... 30 Day Shred, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, and No More Trouble Zones. Some of the days she has scheduled 2 back to back workouts!

I did day 9 today.Tried week 4 too but surprisingly for me it was easier than week 3.I will do week 3 workout one more day then start week 4. emoticon

What you ladies are working on these days? I have bought 6 week-6 packs. I want to work on my mid section next.

Stick with it Saimsam! You're 1/2 done!

Did you start that program? I know it's can be frustrating when the scale doesn't move. Are you tracking inches too? There are many people who haven't seen the scale move much but are dropping sizes!

I got up early & did level 1 of 30 day shred. I forgot how tough it is to do 1 full minute of strength moves. But like RI 30 yesterday I was able to do more of the advanced moves! woo-hoo!

Sorry for 3 posts in a row... I got home from work pretty keyed up. My daughter is spending the night at my parent's house. My husband is at a concert & I found myself in an empty house. In the past I would have dealt with my stress by pigging out. Today I worked out! I did both Dense Austin workouts on her DVD.

I feel so much better! It didn't completely cure my stress from the day but I'm happier being productive than destructive. emoticon

saimsam - never mind. i found it by doing a google search. For me, its sounds terrible! But I know myself and there's no way I could even get through the 1st day without some lean protein - lol! I'd be a monster ;)

But don't let my thoughts on it discourage you! Not every plan is right for every person. When do you plan to start it? I'd be curious to see the results and will cheer you on!

Karen, I'm glad you're getting a less invasive procedure done. We'll be thinking of you on Friday. As soon as you're up to it please check in & let us know how you're doing.

As for 30 slimdown results, i haven't found much. There was one that came up on a Tumblr page where a young woman blogged each day and lost 7 lbs and 9 inches. That sounds pretty good to me!

Saimsam - I have no idea how to search for something on pintrest - lol! So i couldn't find the plan you were talking about. Can you post a link?

Ali, we were posting together, lol! That's great that you were able to do things on week 1 that were hard for you before! I can't wait for the slim down to begin! I think I'm going to like the fact that we get to mix up which DVDs we use.

Has anyone heard what kind of results people who complete slim down get? I'm wondering if it will shed more pounds since BFBM has more cardio in it.

Kim, I hope your area is doing alright thru the storms. I'm about 80 minutes northwest of Chicago, just below the IL/WI border so no storms here. It is very windy here. For the city of Chicago they have warnings that Lake Michigan may get waves between 12-24 feet high. That's crazy how the hurricane can effect a lake halfway across the country!

Miriam, that's awesome that you've been losing some weight every other day! Congrats! I know what you mean about the number on the scale being able to control how we feel about things.

I did day 4 of week 4 last night, but forgot to post before bed. Tonight will be day 5 and then I'll have to switch to day time for day 6. I don't want to be working out in the living room and get trick-or-treaters ringing the door bell.

Oh yeah, almost forgot to tell you ladies that I saw the urologist yesterday. I do have to have a procedure done, but it will be less invasive and the only side effects will be intense feeling of needing to pee, which he said will last 2 or 3 days, from the irritation that will be caused. He told me that he will give me a medicine to help me thru that. I will get twilight anesthesia. This will happen on Friday morning, so day 2 of the slim down. If I have to, I will switch my rest day to this date. If I feel up to it, I'll attempt to try it late at night. That day is "only" level 1 of 30DS. Maybe by now, level 1 of 30DS will feel like a piece of cake to all of us!

Congrats on your success Miriam!

The storm didn't affect me or my family much, I'm in Massachusetts but not near the coast. We didn't even lose power. Back to work today though we got a late start to the day.

I did Week 1 of RI 30 today. I'm really proud of myself for how much better shape I'm in just 1 month(ish) later. I was able to do most of the moves unmodified! I used to have to phone it in on the running man because I just couldn't do it the full time. I was able to today, I actually got a cramp in my side because I refused to stop! I still can't do hollow man for the whole time - LOL!

One more day till the 30 Day Slim Down Challenge! Everybody ready?????

Hi girls, no storms here in South Carolina, just very windy and temps went from summer to winter over night, literally....Yesterday I went to the gym, today I will do 30ds....I have been losing weight every other day for the past week. Just a few ounces here and there, but it adds up to a pound quick...its just amazing me..It must really be true, once you gain muscle, it is easier to burn fat!!! I started this (and my ticker wont let me fix the error...) at 152 lbs and im as of this morning at 146.2, thats just freaking AMAZING to me....When I get back into the 130's, I have no clue what I will do...Just scream to the mountain tops I think.... Isnt it crazy how much a number on a scale can control our moods? Here I am 16 inches smaller, yet that wasnt enough, when the scale started showing, I finally felt like I had done some work, some improvement..... Anyways, in the past 2 1/2 months I have lost 6 lbs, and I am just fine with that!!!! Happy Tuesday Girls....

I did Denise Austin's shape up & shed pounds. Both the 30 minute aerobic routine & the 20 minute stretch & tone. I hadn't done it since before I started the shred. I didn't struggle through it like I did before but I still feel like I got a good workout!

I stayed up later than normal last night, so I took this morning as a rest day. I'll do day 6 of week 4 tomorrow morning.

... to be clear: I always planned to do the rotation, I just wasn't looking forward to it until recently. LOL!

Just finished day 3 of week 4. You know, I wonder if the days in slim down where we do level 1 of 30DS are going to now seem easy to do after completing RI30. I think I'll try it with heavier weights on those days.

Another rest day for me today & with the bad weather I didn't even get outside for a walk.
I'm feeling much better, though not 100% yet. I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Kim - way to push through & just get your workout done! I can't say I would have been as strong.

I did Day 5 of week 4 today. I plan to do it for tomorrow and then take a rest day on Tuesday, then do Turbo Jam on Wednesday ... then it's the rotation (which I'm now looking forward to ... I wasn't so sure before)

You've come far the past two month, but it will be great to your kidney issues sorted out for good- even it means a procedure that takes some time to recover from. Then, you'll be able to get stronger than ever :)

Kim, thanks! I see my urologist tomorrow and will find out what he wants to do about the remaining stones. I was told I have several in both kidneys, so unfortunately this last one is not the end of these problems. I bet I have to get a procedure done and then I'll be out of commission in regards to working out. I'm not looking forward to that since I've worked so hard for Sept & Oct and don't want to lose ground.

Glad you were able to get your workout in despite crazy kids and a husband who suggested you just skip it. How many more days are you going to do it for? I plan on all 4 and then moving directly into the slim down.

Congrats on the pound loss, Karen, and I'm glad you're feeling better.
I got my workout in yesterday afternoon. The Husband suggested I skip it, but I reminded him that's not how this works emoticon My kids were crazy for the first 5 minutes but after some major threats, they played nicely for the rest of the DVD.

Day 2 of week 4 done! I didn't have to pause it and I did substitute plank-jacks for burpees. Only 4 more workouts to go and then I'll be done and can take my measurements, can't wait!

Thanks girls, I'm feeling 100% back to normal today. I was feeling fine late afternoon yesterday, so the stone must have passed since there have been no problems since then.

I can do the plank moguls fine, I don't think I jump as far to each side but I do jump over. I don't know what it was about the burpees, maybe the up & down part?

Week 4 doesn't make me feel like I'm going to drop dead like week 3 did. Hopefully with my substitutions I'll make it thru with no pausing the DVD tonight.

Lost 1 pound with weigh in this morning!

Yikes, Karen! I hope you make it through the rest of the weekend without any more pain.

Agreed on the burpees. There was a moment in week 4 every day I've done it that I feel like maybe I'm pushing something too hard. It just feels ... off. I'll pay attention if that comes during the burpees.

I like week 4 better than 3, too. Week 4 is hard but I feel like it moves faster.

I hoping to squeeze in my workout before a party tonight. My husband isn't feeling well, so fingers crossed that he's okay and I can sneak my 20 minutes for me time!

Burpees are tough! I found the plank moguls to be the most difficult.
Karen, how are you feeling today?


I'm still battling this cold so I'm not going to do a whole workout today, but a did take my daughter & dog for a 30 minute walk :)

Call the men with the straight jackets to come and get me.....I'm crazy cuz I did my workout! Still no kidney stone pain so I figured, why not go for it? This was day 1 of week 4. I discovered that my body does not like burpees. I had never done one before and when I did these, after it was over (both times) I had to pause the DVD because my heart was pounding non-stop in a very high range and I felt light headed. The rest of the DVD I was fine, just not burpees. I did not like the way I felt. Not from it being too hard, or a lazy feeling, but I honestly felt very unhealthy/unsafe after doing them. I won't be trying them again, instead I will do plank-jacks during those segments. Oh, I should also mention that I never paused either 30DS or RI30 until tonight.

I like week 4 better than week 3, otherwise. Does anyone else feel the same? I was expecting the mother of all workouts and to me, it felt like that was last week.

Ali, I hope you kick that cold to the curb and soon! Feel better!

Karen, I remember you mentioning that you'd maybe have to go in for treatment. I'm glad you're feeling better! But...yea, I think you're nuts for wanting to workout! I admire your ambition & dedication. You've been through a lot today, give your body a rest. :)


On that note, I've taken a rest day today. The cold I've been fighting off all week finally caught up with me.

Ali, LOL! You have a good plan. Keep posting daily updates with us while you do the Denise Austin DVD.

As for me..........do you guys remember me mentioning last month that I have to see the urologist for possible treatment for my kidney stones? That appt is Monday. I just wanted to make it thru Sept & Oct with the Jillian programs. If I have to have treatment, I would hate to stop my Nov challenge but obviously I have to do what I need to do for my health. Anyways, my kidney stones didn't want to wait until Monday. I got the kids up at 6:00 for their school routine and when they were ready I went and fell back asleep by my 3 year old. I woke up at 7:45 with kidney stone pain that was mild but quickly turned severe. Definitely a 10 on the pain scale the doctors use. I took an oxycodone/percoset and it kicked in. Spoke with the urologist's nurse and she said if it gets worse than the pain meds can control then I'll have to go to the ER. The pain meds should have worn off at approx 3:30 and I've had no pain. Fingers crossed that the stone already passed. Now, here's a question for you guys....do you think I'm insane for wanting to do my workout tonight??? I feel totally fine, and am not tired since I slept off & on all day long. If the pain returns while I'm working out I'll have no choice but to stop.

Thanks Ladies! I'm thrilled with my results. I'm feeling healthier than I have in a very long time... Probably since before my wedding in 2007 and even then I didn't work as hard as I am now.

Karen, I forgot to answer your question from before. Till then end of the month I'm doing NOTHING - just kidding! I have a Denise Austin DVD called Shape Up & Shed Pounds that I'm going to re-visit. It's 30 minutes of low impact aerobics (mostly dance moves) and a 20 minute stretch and tone routine. I picked it up when first attempting to lose my baby weight a year ago. I actually had looked into JM DVDs then and was too intimidated because I was so out of shape.
I never stuck with the DVD for a number of reasons: I didn't like working out when my husband was home, I was embarrassed (I've since decided it's more embarrassing to be fat!), I didn't have the motivation to just do it no matter what, and I didn't have a support team.

I can't tell you how important all of you have been to my success. Thank you all for the support and accountability. I'm glad we'll all sticking together for the next challenge!

It's wonderful to hear everyone's great progress!

I took a rest day today after a very stressful evening. Though, I wish now that I would have done the workout first thing this morning because it would have eaten up some of this stress I'm carrying around today. Oy!

My friend is just finishing up the 30DS. I told her about our 30 day slim down and she wants to join us! Lightening just took down her computer & 3 TVs, so I don't know how soon she'll be back online. I'm excited to have her join us. Her name is Stacy.

Just got home and am getting ready to do my final day of week 3. I'm going to try to do it a little earlier than usual. I don't want to forget to watch No Doubt on the Jay Leno show tonight.

Day 4 Week 4 done! I'm coming down with a cold (it was inevitable b/c everyone in my family has been sick). I strangely feel better after the workout. Assuming I feel OK tomorrow, I will do my last day of RI30! Results to follow :)

1 small (ok, big) win today: I bought a pair of jeans today in a size 14 assuming I would need to work to get into them, the way Miriam did with her jeans. My 16 pants have been a little roomy, but the 14's I have (which are black work pants, with no give to them) are really tight. I can stand but not sit comfortably. I tried on the jeans & THEY FIT!!!!! And they look good :) I also bought a top in large & it fits well. I started this journey in a size 18/XL. Now I'm a 14/L! emoticon

Thats emoticon Miriam..Fitting into those jeans really a emoticon moment. I am trying to fit into a smaller shirt. My scale is not moving I am stuck but my dresses are loose and now I can fit into almost all of my smaller dresses,and it is the only indication that I am losing some fat .

Kim: There are several times during RI30 I want Jillian to just move ALONG...lol...the fake crying, the speak into my boob segment, bounce a quarter shelley, etc etc etc...And YAY for when someone you work with notices your progress

Karen: Thank You!!! You should definitely try your top on, It could be the motivation you need!!! You never know truly how far you have come until you try on something, you KNOW didnt fit before...

Did day 5 of week 3 a little while ago. My right calf still is sore from last night's charlie horse, so I still had to modify a few things. Instead of doing those plank push-ups I've been substituting girly push-ups and tonight I noticed I could fully do them (finally!). One more workout to go for week 3, yea!

Ali, thanks! That's what I was thinking too, to see what tomorrow's weigh in is. That's so exciting that you're not too far away from getting into the "healthy" BMI. I need to weigh 163 to enter "healthy". It's getting so close, it's exciting! I'm also hoping that the 30 day slimdown will get me there. Enjoy your rest day!

Miriam, that's awesome about wearing your jeans! You look great! You remind me that I need to try on my top that I have as a goal. I bought it too tight at the beginning of Sept (or end of Aug??) and said to myself that I will wear it on Christmas. Last time I tried it on it was still too tight to wear out but it was a little looser.
