I have never done yoga. Is it still a video to try out? Do I need some experience with yoga first?

BLACKANDI has detailed descriptions on how to track all of JM's workouts on one of the sticky threads in the General Discussion forum. It's called "How To Track Jillian's Workouts (DO NOT POST HERE)"

Also, a question for all the Yoga Meltdown experts out there. I'm STILL on level 1 because I cannot for the life of me do the slow motion pushups!! Especially the one where they're *JUST* hovering an inch from the mat and they stay in that position for 15 seconds!! Were there any modifications any of you have done until you got to that point? Or maybe it's just me who's having a difficult time with this. lol So far, this has been the hardest JM DVD for me believe it or not!!

I completed day 1 of the workout 1. It got my blood pumping but wasn't too intense of a workout for me. It's a great one for the weekend. :)

I find it just easy to count all Jillian's workouts under cardio. B/c I burn crazy amount of calories and she definitely incorporates so much cardio in all of her workouts.

After 30 Day Shred, I've become obsessed with Jillian's workouts and the rest of the Biggest Loser series! Anytime I've seen any of these dvd's, I buy them ALL! With that being said, I DO like Yoga Meltdown b/c I feel like it's a GOOD solid workout while also doing the typical yoga poses. But whenever I need a good ol' sweat, I STILL turn back to the Shred Level 3!!! I enjoy Yoga Meltdown on my long run days as a great stretch and strength training. I LOVE Jillian! emoticon

While I really enjoy Jillian Michaels' DVDs and do the Shred and her other DVDs regularly, I thought her Yoga Meltdown was more of a Yoga LETdown. :( Mostly because I don't think it's yoga.

Is it a strength/toning workout? Yes. Does it get your heart rate up? For sure. But is it yoga? I don't think so. Jillian doesn't focus on basic alignment, and I think that a user new to yoga could easily wrench a knee with this DVD.

Jillian is a super workout instructor. But just because there's a demand for yoga, does that mean SHE should do it? Eh...in my opinion, no. I think she should stick with her cardio, weights, and circuit training, because she's really, really good at those, and leave yoga to avid yogis.

I blogged/ranted more about this here:

I just finished Lvl 1 of yoga meltdown... Do you really log it as circuit training? Do you think it burns as much as 30DS? I don't have an HRM, so some advice would help. It just doesn't feel as though I'm burning as many calories...

Of course... I can't do the moves with the ease that Jillian's "girls" do, so I probably burn half the calories... I'm adding this DVD to my rotation. I just wish it were a bit slower... I'm going to have to take more time to "set up" for instance Warrior 3... it takes me longer to be able to stand on that one leg!!

Anyone else notice pains in their feet... I feel like I twisted something...

I did level 1 of the yoga meltdown yesterday! It was challenging considering I am not very flexible, but I felt great afterwards :o) I was never much of a yoga person before because I like high intensity workouts, but YM was great! Made me struggle and sweat!

I did YM for the first time today. I have been doing 30DS and NMTZ for several weeks now. I also do yoga on a regular basis, including before my Jillian Michaels videos. YM made me sweat and shake! I am going to concentrate on doing level 1 right now and in a couple of weeks move to level 2. I am going to also keep doing 30DS and NMTZ. I am excited to see the results.

I started subbing in yoga meltdown for days when I really, really didn't want to shred, and now it's what I do most of the time. The "circuits" in ym are easier for me than those in the shred, and the stretch at the end feels spectacular. Plus, I think I feel a little more rewarded with ym, as I've gained in flexibility faster than I've been able to lose weight or inches.

I did yoga level 1 and 2 back to back today. I did get a headache after (probably dehydrated). I am not flexible at all so I pretty much follow Maddie. I would suggest giving it a try, in the beginning just learn the moves and the routine. When I started NMTZ I started with 3 of the circuits and slowly added a circuit 1 at a time over many weeks. I keep trying the crows pose but I feel like I will fall on my face!

Should I get good at Shred level 3 before going on to other videos, like the yoga one, or do you think it's ok to just try them anyway? I did half of the NMTZ video and thought I was going to die. I'm on Shred level 2 and haven't tried 3 yet.

The best I ever did with crow was the first time I did it. Since then, I get my boyfriend to come spot me and can hold for a couple of seconds at a time, trying to concentrate on working more with my abs and less with my little chicken elbows :)
Have not worked out aside from walking in over a week, recovering from a long almost-mother-in-law visit which somehow helped me lose 5 pounds. That and finally switching to diet coke. Tomorrow, time to see how sore this makes me again.

I tackled level 2 today, I know I will get better the more I learn the routine. My knees did hurt somewhat on this level but it did give my shoulders a break. Fidgert you are right, the 2 workouts compliment each other well. I may try them back to back with less time on my elliptical. Can any one do the crow's pose with both feet up?

How was level 2 on the knees? I like level 1 because it doesn't really bother my knees at all. Ever since I have been doing Jillian's NMTZ dvd my knees have been bothering me, that's why I like to mix it up with yoga. My butt could definitely use a work-out!

For me, level 2 is very easy on the wrists and shoulders compared to level 1. It's mostly legs, 'specially the butt. Like, I've never had that particular muscle cramp during a workout until I hit level 2 here. They go very well back to back since it gives your shoulders a break.

Yoga Meltdown killed my shoulders!! OMG! I did it for the first time last Tuesday and on Wednesday all I kept doing was taking ibuprofen and squeezing my neck muscles to try and relax. I ended up with a severe headache from the sore shoulders. Funny thing is the workout made me sweat, but my shoulders didn't hurt at the time, just the next day. Then again, it was only my second day back into exercising after taking a few weeks off as I moved, etc. I'm going to give it a try again, but I am going to try and be more aware of when I am using my shoulder muscles.

I do 30 Day Shred and No More Trouble Zones, and BL BootCamp, but I still found this challenging. Maybe because I am just getting back into the "swing" of exercising, I don't know, but definately not traditional Yoga - you will sweat!!

I paid close attention on the side planks today to see why I can't hold it at the end without going down on 1 leg. Definitely it's my wrists that can't take it, perhaps a bit of my shoulder too. I am trying to hold it longer but can only do it for 4 secs. When I first started doing yoga 1 I had a hard time just doing the side planks but I just did them really slow (less reps).

Just did this for the first time today, and although I struggled with some of the chataronga stuff, found it quite "easy". Then I did my level 2 shred for the day and realized my 5lb weights felt like 50lbs! I guess the yoga meltdown wasn't as "easy" as I thought!

Where do y'all feel the side planks most? Because I always have to drop to one knee, not because of my abs or legs but because my wrist just can't take it.
My shoulders really get it during this workout too, especially level 1. Did both last night to console myself after a very bad jogging session, somehow that warmed me up just enough to get through all the poses except crow. Still working on breath control in locust, kinda hard to get air that way.

Thanks NODAKBEX for the ice suggestion. I iced my knees today, after NMTZ workout, with a big bag of peas- it did help. I was wondering how everyone's shoulders felt after yoga meltdown. My knees don't hurt during yoga but my shoulders certainly get a workout!

I did this for the first time today, after doing Level 1 of the Shred. I'm going through the Shred levels to mix things up but need something else to get the rest of the weight off. This KICKED MY REAR END! I was dripping sweat onto the mat.

This isn't easy if you are like me and are not used to yoga. Just do what you can, don't beat yourself up if you can't hold a pose or if something is beyond your strength abilities. I'm sure like everything, it will get easier with time and practice.

A tip for other knee sufferers: ice your knees after your workout. Ten minutes on, then ten minutes off for a total of 30 minutes of ice on the knee. I have RA and this helps out a lot.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. -Herm Albright, 1876-1944

Glad to hear that others have had success with flexibility, that is especially what I'd like to gain.

I did it for the first time last night, and was surprised that I was able to do most moves. I have a wrist abnormality that makes planks and pushups very painful.

This won't replace my daily shred workout, but it is a good edition to my workout DVD collection.

This totally shot my flexibility through the roof! I do the Biggest Loser weight loss yoga on days when I couldn't bring myself to do anything more, but Yoga Meltdown on a regular basis for the past month or so and for the first time in my life (elementary school included--lousy hamstrings) I can touch my toes without bending the knees!
Enjoy!

I ordered the DVD on Amazon a couple of nights ago. I hope to have it this weekend to give it a try. I plan to use it to supplement the 30 Day Shred.
