Hi Dale,

Well, just got out of the hospital on Thursday. New diagnoses and new medications.

Now, I have to take care of myself. It's no longer a choice.

Hope things are going well for you.

Talk soon,

Leslie

Thanks Leslie. Don't give your husband attention about exercise. Just go on your own each time without any deviation or delay based on what he is saying or doing. You'll be the better for it. You go girl! Talk soon,

Hi Dale,

I need to wake up everyday with that thought!

I did get a chance to workout this week at the gym. Got to do some walking with a friend and play a little (very little) basketball. I even got to bowl a little. It felt good.

I keep begging my husband to get back to the gym, but now he's trying to hold me back. If I start going without him, he'll get jealous and start coming with me.

Still depressed some, but I'm getting better.

I'm very close to becoming fully licensed, probably by the end of the year.

I'll weigh myself the next time I'm at the gym and let you know where I am.

Hope the wedding went well and that your practice is getting off the ground.

Leslie

Whatever comes up, make your first thought "what would I do if I knew I could not fail?"

This magic mantra melted my appetite away. I might lead my posts with it daily like I do my weigh in. I'm grateful to have achieved a decent maintenance weight.

Scott has been on the road traveling from South Carolina all day, having probably started before daylight. He's considering us attending a barbeque gathering tonight even though we have Gary and Lee's wedding in the morning. THAT will be fabulous. And quite unique. Around 5 or more other Reverends will officiate these two reverends marrying! It'll be a great love fest. I'm really happy to be invited because some of our old friends who studied with us in the past have not been around lately and did not get invited. Maria wishes she was going and so does Sara.

I feel it coming into place. The missing rent after Sharon leaves here and I clean the space back up to rent again, is going to be at least partially covered by client fees. My private practice feels like it wants to come back to life!!! I do have a California client who is weekly for awhile, and someone just tracked me down from the past and is coming next Tuesday. She won't hardly have a dime to pay me so I'll do sliding scale (which will be just about free...) It's important to charge something, even a token payment.

Friends get help for free. LOL Maria and I had a wonderful time out with a neighbor Wed. night and then we came back to my house to problem solve a situation she's in which was tons of fun. I love it when someone can find their way out of a patterned coping style in order to get a different result.

Hello Dale,

Well, it's almost August and soon it will be High Holy Days. I can't wait!

My joints feel better, so it's only me that's stopping me from going to the gym, but that will soon some to a hault. If I don't work out soon, I will need services!

Hurrah on your success! I know that you're feeling better.

Well, it's after midnight here. I better go to bed!

Take care,
Leslie

Hi Leslie!

Thanks for stopping by. But I'm sorry to hear that your health is getting more complicated and restrictive!

I've had the opposite experience these last couple of months. I increased my walking quite a lot and changed my eating habits, and have lost 10 lbs, which really pleases me. I feel SO much better. One mantra that is really helping is something like this:

No matter what is going on, how would you feel if you knew that you'd succeed? It has allowed me to picture myself thinner, and so it is. Powerful stuff.

My social life has been quite active as well. My companion Scott spends all his money on intangible things like dining out and concerts, so I get out a lot lately.

But I must run and get ready for the next event.
Hugs,
Dale

Hi Dale,

OK, it's been a while.

I have a new job that I have been at since the middle of March.

I love it, but it takes a lot of my time. I've also been dealing with a lot of injuries to my knees and ankles. It has sidelined me on a lot of things. Even walking is a treat when I am physically able to do it.

I've tried doing the bike at Planet Fitness, but it's not any easier on my joints and I don't enjoy it as much as the elliptical.

Hope you are doing well and enjoying the spring/summer!

All my best,
Leslie

HEALTHY BEAR,
Good advice. What have YOU been doing with yourself?

MACHOL,
I'm sorry to hear that your job suddenly ended. It sounds like a lot went out of control. What a relief to hear that you put soda down. It DOES leach out calcium besides having NO redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I've been holding a steady 160.5 on the scale which means that I just don't lose any weight. Fortunately, the walking really helps my emotional energy, so I work on getting a minimum of 150 minutes a week in. During the real spring weather I'll be able to do better than that.

My FitBit gadget stopped functioning and I've been waiting for the replacement to get shipped to me. Measuring the number of steps I take each day had been really helpful so I really miss having it.

It's good that you're more focused now on taking better care of yourself. What else is there?
Dale

Sorry I haven't been posting.

My job was stressing me out and giving me no time for anything else, then...

...the job ended (rather suddenly).

At one point, I didn't drink any sodas because it leeches calcium out of my body and wreaks havoc on my arthritic body. Lately, I haven't been doing so well with taking care of myself.

Time for a do-over...

Hi Healthy Bear! Machol and I thought we were alone here.

I rarely drink any type of soda. Maybe 3 glasses a year. Hiking more, is always a good idea.
If I stay active I can't vegetate and just eat my boredom!

Let's make this year the one that changes everything... for the good!

Machol,
No I don't remember ever seeing goals for this group. You and I are the only ones who ever come back here. I'm keeping track of my exercise with another group and keeping in touch like a diary with yet a different group.
How are you? Happy New Year!

I see why we aren't growing.
No one is a team captain.

I am about to celebrate a solid two years at Sparks, as you are, too.

What has happened in these two years?

For me, there was a weight GAIN instead of loss. NOT ANY LONGER.
I am working my way down toward goal. FIRST I must complete the first ten pounds. That is only one pound away from today.

Then I will concentrate on a second 10 pounds. So for August, for the 2 year anniversary, I want to be in the range of 165.5 and lower. By Christmas I want to be in the 155.5 and lower.

That way by spring I can be under 145.5 and at goal. MY GOAL is 138-142 pound range.

WHAT ABOUT YOU? HAVE YOU EVALUATED the last two years and what you claim for yourselves now?

The Passionate Tiger never gives up but learns from wherever she treads,

I looked over the team members' successes who post on this thread. Such wonderful news! Great job.

I have to confess that I am not happy with myself and that is why I am not succeeding. I may not have as big a challenge as some of you with the amount of weight I need to lose, but as an EE member (emotional eater), I have the same struggle to live the lifestyle I need for fitness, trim and healthy.

Next month is already two years since I moved onto this website from another. Where I had succeeded before, I have not here. I gained.

This confession is important because if nothing else, I must remain honest.

I will continue to strive for my desire and picture myself as already having achieved it.

No excuses and not enough understanding... obviously. But with that said, I DO know all about calories and food portions, exercise and whatever works. What I don't understand is my irregularity being able to just maintain choosing the next right action.

My goal is to live at a weight that makes me feel fabulous and works well, too.

My expectation is that I CAN DO THIS. I can get there and I can maintain it this time for all time.

I am on the move. The first two years at sparks sucked. I gained. But now I am in the right direction.

The elevator's here... going down, anyone?

My goal for this week is to jumpstart my fitness with more outdoor activity. I walk nearly every day, but I want to include more gardening, oh, and perhaps buy an inexpensive bicycle for random trips to the grocery store.

When I joined Sparkpeople way back in August 07, my goal was to go from an obese BMI (255lbs) to an overweight BMI (202 lbs). Now I am targeting a normal weight. The Sparkpeople Food Log has been my most important tool. I can't thank this website and the people who made it possible enough for being there when I needed them.

hi everyone! Think this is my first post in this team. The first goal I am focusing on right now is to lose 8lbs by the 22. We have two pretty big social engagements that weekend and I would love to fit into my new outfit. The jeans have started fitting well since last week but the top is still snug so have some work to do yet!

My superficial long term goal is to be able to look good in a bikini for my honeymoon in June. This was the goal that I had when I first decided to go on a "diet". Now my goals are to be the healthiest version of myself that I can be. I want a fit body for when I might try to have kids.

Goals:

1. Maintain my established healty eating habits.

2. Continue to drink water and continue making it my first choice beverage.

3. Be able to jog 2 miles consistantly by the end of the year.

4. Be able to jog 5 miles consistantly by my wedding day.

5. Wear a bikini on my honeymoon and feel fabulous in it!

I joined the Navy and I need to lose body mass before I can go to bootcamp. I've always wanted to lose the extra weight but never had the motivation to keep up the hard work. I can not wait to go to bootcamp. So hopefully with the help of this site and the motivation of wanting to leave asap for training I will finally lose the weight.

emoticon I guess my main goal for this weekend, especially since it's a holiday weekend-Labor Day, is not to gain any weight. DH and I are going away for the weekend to a Blues Festival and staying overnight. It's always harder to eat good when I'm away. And we'll be camping, and there's the camp fire, etc. etc. And I'm in TOPS, so I want to have a loss when I get back to to TOPS on Tuesday at the weigh-in, so I have to be diligent and make sure to exercise (at least walk a lot). If I stay the same even I guess I'll be happy. The main thing is, not to gain!

Life may not be the party we expected....but while we are here we should dance.

I've got a few goals:
1. Exercise at least 30 min per day...starting today
2. lose 10% (19lbs) by October 31.
3. lose another 10% by December 31.

This will put me within 7 lbs of my big goal of 150 by mid-January...I CAN do it!!

My goal is to eventually be back to 140 pounds. Although I'm not very tall, I'm muscular so I tend to look my best when I'm between 135-145. I haven't been in the 130's since I hit 30 so I'm just shooting for the 140-145 range. emoticon

I've been experiencing some medical difficulities (hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia) but I'm hopeful that I'm going to be able to take off this weight now that I've involved my doctor. I've lost 2 pounds. emoticon

Hi Everyone,

My goals are to be half way to my weight loss by the end of December 2007 and to be at my goal weight by the end of April 2008.

Life may not be the party we expected....but while we are here we should dance.

I wish I could come up with a goal. I've been so wishy-washy about this whole thing. My "goal" is to lose 10 pounds, and I know how to do it, but I don't seem to be able to motivate myself into doing the right things. I am starting to watch what I eat again since I am keeping track here on SP, but other than a couple of good brisk walks, I can't seem to get myself started with an exercise program (and I belong to a health club!). emoticon

My main goal is to set a lifestyle eating habit change instead of dieting, I weighted 257 and loved junk food and high calorie fast food on a regular basis. I've been on diets before and would loose weight by eliminating junk food but would always get the cravings and would "lose out" to them, eventually gaining the weight back plus some.

This time I decided to just cut back sweets by 90% and reduce potatoes and bread by 75%. This has kept me from having any cravings and I'm down to 219 since Feb/07.

My first goal was to get to 230 and my primary goal is to get to 200. So this is working for me. I plan on walking if I hit a plateau and the weight stops coming off.

Every life tells a story, may yours be an epic adventure

I have 5% weight loss goals set up on my spark page.

However, in the process of this past week I discovered that I am highly competitive with myself and now my goals on a daily basis is to beat my previous days 3/4 and 1 mile times on the treadmill. Sure 3/4 of a mile and 1 mile aren't great distances, but it's a start.

Last friday I could barely do 20 minutes on the treadmill and I'm even sure if I made it 3/4 of a mile. Through the week I have increased distance and time and by thursday of this week I was doing 3/4 of a mile in 16:15, and 1 mile in 21:37. Today (friday) I was feeling under the weather, but come monday morning I will be tracking my times again and working all week to beat my previous times.

Hi,
I am new here but
My first goal is to go from 217 - 199 by December 12th. My second goal is to go from 199 to 150 by June 21st 08, My final goal is to go from 150 to 120 by 8/15/08. These might change, if I loose faster or slower, but for now this is it.
I started at 217, and I am now 213, so I only have 14 more Lb.s to go before Dec. 12. :). So far I just started exercising this week, food journaling has really helped! Good luck to everyone.

1st goal 200 lbs by Halloween
2nd goal 175 lbs by 01/31/08
3rd goal 150 lbs by 05/01/08
Ultimate goal 140 lbs or less long term

Weekly goals: walk at least 3X/week, stay in calorie range Mon-Sat with allowances on Sundays. As long as I average out near 1500/day for the entire week I don't feel guilty if I have one mini splurge day. I don't overdo, but I do allow myself something special.

Overall main goal to build health no matter how long it takes!

My current goal is to keep working out and eating healthy so I can knock off one pain killer at a time. I have had several nights where I havent needed them at all, but there are bad days and nights too.

My biggest goal right now is to cut back on the junk food and try to stay within or below my calorie range. So far, I'm doing ok. Sat night was my only overage for the week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep it up.

my goal right now is to do the 15 minutes of exercise every day as part of my fast break goals... I need to start... I haven't got much of a current fitness level... I do walk alot with my job but it is walk here... check out the shelf... chat with the manager... walk somewhere else... I do tend to walk in the 5 - 10 k number of steps a day but it is not a sustained effort

"Jump and Burn (45 min class followed by 15 min abs)"

I can't get enough of these; I love classes that start with cardio and then throw in a little strength training at the end. My step class has that (as well as some lifting incorporated during the cardio portion), and I took a cardio karate class with the same structure.

The best part is the variation the instructors can provide. You'll work muscles you never know you had, and get results faster than doing the same crunches time and time again. Plus once you've learned a few exercises that you particularly like, then you can use them on your own any time. It's a great way to add variety to your own strength training without the expense of a personal trainer.

Back to topic I should add my own goal. At the end of a long diet I weighed under 130, less than I did in high school. I absolutely LOVED feeling "wee," and want to get that feeling back and maintain it this time. I'm still at a healthy weight, but it's not the same as being a skinny Minnie. A shorter-term goal is to firm up in time for my brother's wedding in October (baseball player marries personal trainer, yeah, best not be flabby). On the other hand, if I lose too much I'll be too small for the bridesmaid dress I already bought. Decisions!

It is great that you are not a fan of the scale. It is a lot better to gauge weight loss with things like clothing then the scale. For flexability, have you tried any type of yoga? It has really helped my flexability. I know you will be seeing progress in no time with a little hard work!!

That is a great goal, variety is the spice of life and definetly helps you stay away from getting bored along the way. You have inspired me to check out a spin class at my gym. I will let you know how it goes. :)

i'm not much of a scale person, so i am shooting for getting back into my size 8 jeans(i'm in a tight 14 right now). i just want to feel better about the way my body looks. too many rolls! more flexibility, too! i'm giving myself 1 year, but i think i may be able to be happy just by seeing progress, even if i need longer. i love this site. it is so motivational!

One of my goals I have for Stage 1 is to try three new classes at my gym. So far I've tried spinning and really liked it.

I see a couple others on the schedule that sound interesting, namely, Jump and Burn (45 min class followed by 15 min abs) and Sweat Box.

The other day I saw all these people going in for Sweat Box and they had boxing gloves on and sweatbands! Looks intense! Who couldn't use an hour of punching and kicking something after a long day at work?!?!?

Under 5 feet tall and loving it!

My specific goals are 45lbs lost, the ability to run a 5k without stopping to walk, and a 30 inch waist. I know the scale isn't as good a measuring device as a measuring tape, so that's why I came up with a measurement on my body and one of my health. I'd love to have that accomplished by Christmas, but I think next May is a more realistic goal. I'd love all the help and support anyone can offer! Thanks!
