Those of you that bake pies, try using Joseph's "Sugar Free Cookies" as your pie crust next time you bake.

Today what worked for me was organic, no sugar-added applesauce. I also had a can of tuna: with the pop-top lid it was very convenient to eat at my desk.

I was eating fiber one bars (very filling, just enough chocolate for the sweet tooth), but I've started going to a nutritionist and she suggested against them because of the high artificial sugar. So now I've been having fruit for snacks (occasionally with crackers or peanut butter if I need a bit more). I just had a bowlful of grapes and now I'm all set 'till dinner.

For me, I've been having a bran muffin late morning, then a later than usual lunch. I don't feel so deprived having something sweet and it seems to be easier to control when I eat it in the AM. PM snacks I try to stick with something else - hummus with pita, veggies, or crackers or hard boiled eggs. When I do crave something sweet, a popsicle or fruit bar is good, or else I have an apple with 1 Tbl peanut butter. Dried fruit, some nuts, and a big glass of water is another great option.

Lately, I've been making grilled chicken wraps for lunch using whole wheat tortillas, lettuce, a little shredded cheese, and honey mustard (like McD's only better quality, healthier tortillas) and eating with either a salad or veggie soup. If I'm in a hurry or running errands I'll drink a V-8 instead with it. A small one could be a great snack instead of a meal.

In terms of lunch, try eating an open-faced sandwich. That way you can save the calories from that piece of bread you're not eating, and use them for something else. Visually, you'll trick yourself into thinking you're eating a normal sized sandwich and by eating, lets say yogurt in addition to the rest of your meal, I think you would feel fuller. One trick I learned on tv, was to use a lettuce leaf to use as your other half of the sandwich.

I just heard about this today. Eat a scoop of peanut butter with some whipped cream, like reddiwhip. I plan to try this tonight for dessert or snack.

1) Oikos plain Greek Yogurt with 2 tbsp ground flaxseed, frozen strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and banana

2) 2 slices of Ezekiel bread, 2 tbsp Trader Joe's organic peanut butter and sliced frozen bananas

These 2 snacks tend to fill me up for a while and are pretty tasty. Frozen fruits are more like treats to me and they taste almost like candy. lol

I like to snack on almonds (Blue Diamond brand is my fave) or popcorn when I'm hungry between meals. I'm also a big fan of apple slices & peanut butter or salsa & pretzels (sounds crazy, but better than tortilla chips)!

LaTortilla tortillas are great for a quick snack. I put cream cheese on and veggies. Even a few romaine leafs on or today sweet peppers and cucumbers. The fiber count is great.

Individual servings of applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon. And maybe some graham crackers if I have extra calories to fill. These keep well in a desk drawer. I bought a cheap cinnamon in the dollar store.

May your bobbin always be full!

I usually eat yogurt or fruit. I love the new Yoplait Parfaits - they are really good and take care of the sweet tooth. A little piece of dark chocolate is good too, and pretzels. Those are a few of m favs.

Fruits and vegetables fill me up, especially when combined with an item with fat/protein (such as a string cheese, nut butter, or nuts). Common snacks for me would be:

apple with almond butter or cheese
banana with peanut butter
carrots with hummus or peanut butter
yogurt/cottage cheese with fruit and nuts
cooked apple with cinnamon and walnuts
cooked sweet potato with black beans

or if I'm in a hurry...
handful of nuts
plain apple or banana
plain yogurt
bread with p.b. or hard-boiled egg
piece of dark chocolate
cereal (or homemade trail mix with cereal)

My most filling snack is a 30gr low GI brown bread slice with 2 pilchards (canned in tomato sauce). This keeps me full for a long time.

I eat this one at about 4pm and this takes me through to dinner and I dont feel hungry after dinner.

God Bless

Hi! This is my first post, but have been motivated by all of you. My dreaded time of day is between lunch and dinner. I am a sweet-aholic and once I allow myself that one little treat.....I go off the deep end! :-(

What snacks do you find really satisfying?

Or maybe it's my lunch. What is your favorite filling lunch option?

Thanks so much for the ideas. I am so happy to have found this site!
