OK GUYS HUDDLE UP.
This is our chance to run the ball down the field.
Q1. What is the top 3 problems in your weight loss regime?
A meal plan (including food shopping). A strong workout routine. A saboteur.
The meal plan was troublesome until I found a website, designed for diabetics, like myself. With a few keystrokes I have been able to plan healthy, Low-Fat Low-Carb Low-Cal gourmet meals, for a month, for myself. But here's the hitch. Does anyone remember Robin Williams in "Moscow on the Hudson?"
In that film Williams' caricature, a Russian refugee / sax player, was sent to an NYC supermarket to buy a can of coffee. Accustomed to standing in long food lines Williams enters the US coffee aisle and goes into shock. That behavior is similar to mine.
All of my life it was the women folk who did the supermarket shopping. Grandma, Mother, College Girlfriend, Wife (not the same person), Teen(now adult) Daughters. They fill the shopping cart. Took it through the checkout. Paid the bill. While I sat in the car or back at the house watching sports on TV.
Now I'm alone and when I go to "the Chopper," "Hanny," "the Co-Op," or where ever I start to have palpitations, heavy breathing, and a little dizziness. There have been times I have left the cart in the middle of an isle and run for the exits to calm down.
Following recipe instructions is easy. It's like making a model car. An HO train or building. It's like woodworking in my shop or changing the fluids in the car. But getting the food "there in lies the rub."
For a time it was easier just to go to the drive up window than to go to the supermarket. And A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE!!!!!
Now I'm not giving props to any big box discounters, but, the BIG*BLUE super centers have helped out some. I can go to the super center start to food shop and when the anxiety starts I just shoot over to the auto center till it subsides. Back to food...back to anxiety...then to sporting goods...back to food...back to anxiety...then to tools and home repair.
I figure it takes me about 2 1/2 hours, and a 3 mile in store walk, to shop for one cart of food.
So what is your achilles heel?
"I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
We have had a suggestion from one of our wonderful male team mates:
"You ask about a name for a guy sub-group how about the, "CD NY HUNKS." .
If your interested I would cross-promo us in the "GUYS LOUNGE," " New York Yankee Fans," "New York Mets," " Red Sox Nation," "New York Giants," "Buffalo Bills Fans," " New York Jets," "– New England Patriots –," to introduce us around."
here ya go-just for you guys!
i am going to let J work this forum according to his vision and we'll see what happens.
Let It Go
If peace is really what you want, then you will choose peace.
Always move forward toward peace and light. Let go of bitterness and negativity-these hold back your progress in life.
When you see these traits in others-know the wisdom hasn't come to them yet and be ever mindful of your own journey.
Failure is giving up what we want most for what we want now.
