I'm in Idaho Falls and I've had great experience at Lucy's (pizza), 5 Guys (lettuce wrap burger & fries cooked in peanut oil), and Red Robin (lettuce wrap burger). I got sick eating at Papa Tom's pizza - I have thrown up every time I ate their pizza. In downtown Idaho Falls, 3's company, Snake Bite, and the Villa coffee house can all accomodate gluten-free if you ask. :)

There's a wingers in Moscow - will have to try it! I guess Jimmy John's does lettuce wraps - I might have to give that a go so hubby can have a sandwich emoticon

Went to TGIF Friday's yesterday and found out they have an allergy menu and a special page for gluten free. The waiter let me know they cook that food on a separate grill to avoid cross contamination. Looked like a pretty good selection. May take daughter who eats gluten free there sometime soon. (We rarely eat out) emoticon

If Wingers is where it was the last time I saw it, it was on Hitt Rd near 25th on the West side of road. Albertson's has a wide variety of GF. The one in Ammon (near Wingers) on East side of Hitt & 17th seems to have the best selection. Fred Meyers has GF near the produce section. Smith's is good too. There is a Wealth of Health store on 1st and Woodruff that has a good selection of GF as well. Winco is ok but no "section" We have to ask or look in the section where it would be found if they weren't GF. Bread is in a cold case in the Bakery. Hope this helps. Jerry

I couldn't remember for sure if there was a Winger's in IF!- I'm gonna have to go there if I ever get back in the area!!

Do any of the regular grocery stores (Albertson's, Fred Meyer, Walmart) have a gluten- free section? Does winco have any gf stuff?

It's been 8 years since I lived in Pocatello, and I only went gf a year ago.

Glad you mentioned Wingers. There is one in Idaho Falls. My daughter went to Applebee's in Idaho Falls and they also have a GF menu. She really enjoyed her time with her friend's family there. She just asked the manager.

Hi!!
This is good to know- I'm in boise now, but lived in Pocatello for a few years, and still have family there.
The Winger's there in Pocatello (On Yellowstone ave, by the Fred meyer) should have a gluten- free menu, you just have to ask for it-- and, if you get a something with chicken in it, make sure it is not marinated!
the Winger's here in Boise has a gluten- free menu--- and if I remember right, supposedly all of their restraunts do.

I live in the SE part of the state. I found a good place to order GF mixes that is located in my general area. Mom's Place Gluten Free has good GF products. I served my daughter GF pancakes tonight and they went over really well. They are on line. I'm slowly trying their products. Certain stores in the area are also good about providing GF food. Lucy's Pizza and Tom's Pizza in Idaho Falls have GF Pizza. We are on a tight budget & we don't eat out very much. Have not tried either one yet but plan to go sometime in the future.

Just saw the end of this story on the noon news (KTVB, channel 12) here in Boise, so went and found it online.

The only thing I didn't really like was that they seemed to exclude non celiac gluten intolerant people. and there are a lot more than 1% of the population who can't eat gluten.
I'm going to have to find out where that pizza place is-- I've never heard of it. (Smokey Mountain Pizza and Chicago Connection also have gluten free pizzas)
The people at Jake's Place are usually pretty nice :)

I live here in Idaho. The city is small but growing. We have a pretty good sized support group, and we even go to Washington every other meeting to include the Spokane folks. Most of the doctors here are clueless. I order much of my food. The restaurants are clueless and I've gotten ill each time I've ventured outside of my kitchen. Our hospital has a gf menu for patients to choose what they want each day. Some of the food must be purchased and brought in specifically for that patient. What else do you want to know?
