I'm new to the team and just getting started this year after not doing anything for months now. I plan to walk for at least 30 mins. 5 days a week and do Callanetice ~ 1 Hr. 2 days a week to started with.
Currently I do three thirty-minute cardio sessions a week. Generally at least 10 minutes of one session is HIIT. I have no idea how many calories I burn- I don't care. I just want to get it done. :-)
I spend much more workout time lifting, and I think it is far more important than cardio for a myriad of reasons. Having said that, I think I am going to change my cardio after we return from vacation to two 45-minute steady-state sessions and one 20-minute HIIT sessions, because I am having a hard time getting those last few pounds to stay off at my current level
I don't enjoy cardio much (I'd rather lift), but if I had to pick a favorite it'd be elliptical. Most of the time, though, I do the stationery bike because it is low impact and does not involve my easily-irritated scapula.
What is your cardio routine? What is your favorite cardio exercise? How often and how long? How many calories do you burn? How do you feel before your cardio and how do you feel afterward?
I love the elliptical machine. I had surgery 6 months ago and am still struggling a bit with my endurance level, but I'm getting there. I was doing 30-45 minutes of cardio and then doing the Couch to 5k running program before my surgery. I am just now back to to that level of endurance in my cardio routine. Finally the pounds are coming off again. I always struggle mentally before I exercise because I really just want to go home and not exercise. However I usually feel wonderful after my workouts and with running I get a really great feeling from that.
