I have some kelp noodles. I didn't really enjoy them. :(
They are very nutritious though. Glad you liked them. You will be the healthier for it. :)

I just had the most amazing lunch at a raw food restaurant. It was 'pad thai' made with zucchini 'noodles' and kelp noodles. It was really flavorful and I loved the kelp noodles. They are clear noodles with no flavor but a chewy texture. They take on the flavor of whatever sauce they are with. Very low cal but nutritious. I found them at a local nutrition store and I plan to use them tomorrow in a salad. I have had them in Japanese food before but I didn't realize they were made from kelp. definitely worth a try!

Woke up late today
Brunch:
sauteed kale, cabbage, some other greens in 1 cup of homemade tomato soup with quinoa
4 tbs of homemade granola (my first ever). Made from oats, cranberries, 1 cup of roasted nuts, 1 tbs of desiccated coconut, 1/2 cup of roasted apple sauce (elanaspantry recipe), 1/4 cup of coconut and olive oil, cinnamon sticks (broken into tiny pieces) and apple peels (dried out in the oven) from the apples used to make the apple sauce. It was so yummy.
Snack: 12 almonds (soaked the night before) with 1 pink lady apple
Supper: tuna salad and an americano

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your
life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on,
rely on, or blame. The gift is yours -- it is an amazing
journey -- and you alone are responsible for the quality of
it. This is the day your life really begins."

New goals:
Eat Positively
Exercise daily (that one is already achieved)
Experiment with 3-5 meals a day
Avoid binge for at least 3 weeks.

Today's eats:

Breakfast: oatmeal (made with water), nonfat Greek yogurt, and strawberries; vanilla protein shake with coffee

Lunch (split into two mini-meals): baked sweet potato, steamed kale, and nutritional yeast; black beans with cottage cheese and homemade rice and bean crackers (brown rice and adzuki beans pureed and mixed with flax and herbs, then baked in cracker shapes until crispy)

Snack: black bean brownies (sweetened with pureed raisins, very low sugar)

Dinner: clean corn chowder (corn, yukon gold potatoes, 1% milk, onions, and herbs), baked tempeh, lettuce and tomato salad

Dessert: "cookie dough" made with almond butter and vanilla protein powder

Lots of beans today! My trainer has me eating 50% carbs, 20% fat, and 30% protein, so I have to be creative with my clean, vegetarian, gluten-free protein options.

As this is my first comment on the Clean eating site, I will only post what I just ate for my snack. Thin crisp bread, hummus, cucumbers and a fruit salad. But I have been trying to eat clean since I started Sparks People 3 weeks ago. With a family it doesn't always work as I have a meat loving husband.

Today's menu... lower carb, higher protein, moderate fat.

Calories are approx 1450, but I also have a spirulina supplement at bedtime that has 120 calories and 18 grams of protein. So, total calories are almost 1600.

Preworkout: 1/2 slice of GF Ancient Grains bread (homemade)

Postworkout: Miracle whey (whey protein from grass fed cows) with milk and 1/2 banana

Lunch: ground turkey and extra lean ground sirloin mixed with tomatoes, red peppers, mushrooms, tomato sauce. Add some "miracle noodle".

Afternoon Snack: whey protein with ground flax

Dinner: Strip loin steak cut into strips and stir fried with olive oil, grated carrot, bean sprouts and spices. Add some "miracle noodle"

Dessert: 1/2 of Dr. Mercola's Whey Bar.

Before Bed: vitamin supplements and spirulina

For breakfast: organic toast, hummus, carrots, radishes, & broccoli.

I made a beautiful salad & left it on the counter at home. I guess we will see how well the little work cooler I bought works for 10 hours. Ha, ha. Work is 45 minutes away so luckily I have some almonds in my desk.

Tues. Wed. Thurs I've done very well. got behind on posting--that's okay. Here's what I had today:

Breakfast:
My favorite fruit salad of grapefruit, banana and avocado with cinnamon and stevia

Lunch:
Chicken Salad w/Thyme & Cashews
Coleslaw (lots of cabbage coming out of my garden!)

Snack: Turkey Pepperoni Stick

Dinner:
Spinach w/goat cheese
Halibut (poached w/lemon)

Late snack: 6 oz red wine
I had planned on some apple slices and goat cheese for late snack but I actually forgot because the movie we were watching (Hamlet w/David Tennant) was so engrossing I just got carried away--now it's too late and I'm going to bed. So, my calorie count for the day is way low. I'll survive...lol!

I use Healthy Way, organic whole grain wraps. There's lot of good ones out there. You can also get Ezekial wraps, and I really like Mountain organic whole wheat wraps. The Mountain wraps are super thin. Really low calorie.

Spirulina is a green algae. It is high in protein. I take tablets as the stuff doesn't really taste all that good.
I also found this about Spirulina:

"Basic Spirulina Information: What is spirulina?
First and foremost, spirulina refers to a family of blue-green algae. These are usually found in warm and alkaline waters all over the world, and are predominant in Central Africa and Mexico.

Spirulina is revered as the Superfood because it is a very rich source of various kinds of vitamins.

It contains about 70% protein, the vitamins E, C (beta carotene) and B complex, a number of minerals, phycocyanin and chlorophyll. If you think that carrots are rich in beta carotene, you will be surprised to know that the spirulina herb contains a lot more! The truth is, it is the richest beta carotene food ever.

Spirulina Health Benefits

Because of its contained nutrients, the consequent benefits of spirulina to our body should not be surprising. However, spirulina does not only promote overall health and nutrition. The health benefits of spirulina extend into many uses, most of which age medical in nature.

Spirulina is largely used as an antioxidant, anti-viral agent, weight loss aid and even lipid and cholesterol lowering. Let us look through the many health benefits of spirulina in detail.

Spirulina and Diabetes. Spirulina has been found to have significant positive effects on people suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is reported that spirulina has the ability to reduce he fasting blood sugar levels in the body after 6 to 8 weeks of intake.

Spirulina and Weight Loss . Spirulina today is most popular as a therapy for weight loss. It is mostly marketed now as the most vitamin rich appetite suppressant. Spirulina is actually one of the non-meat products which contain the highest protein content, along with all the essential nutrients and amino acids, without the unnecessary carbohydrates or fats. Your waistline will surely be kept where you want it.

Spirulina and Cholesterol. Based on the same concept as above, spirulina is also promising in terms of lowering blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Also, spirulina is said to contain gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), which is found uniquely on mother's milk. This essential fatty acid is vital to promoting heart health in general.

Spirulina and Cancer. Spirulina has long been established to have cancer fighting ingredients. It helps boost the immune system. Not only that, spirulina has been seen to reverse the signs of aging."

Hey Coopsm! Great job on your weight loss! I am trying to get more organic items in my diet too. But you do have a bunch of "real" whole foods in your diet. Can't complain about that! I'm probably going to have barbecue sauce on my fake chicken tonight and neither of those are real food....

Just keep swimming....

Today's menu (higher carb day), is also not 100% clean. I'm gonna be out all day, so I'm gonna stop at Wendy's and have a bowl of chili for lunch (I get so tired of salads with grilled chicken breast)

Breakfast: rolled oats with almond milk, blueberries, whey protein and cinnamon

I stuck pretty close to my intended menu; just moved things around a bit and switch things with what I found in the garden today.
Breakfast: same as original menu
Lunch: meatloaf, fresh, steamed kale
Dinner: 1/4 cup egg salad on toast, roasted acorn squash, cherry tomatoes and 1/3 cup coleslaw

Only 1146 calories so far. I'm looking forward to an evening treat of fresh organic peaches and yogurt

Great thread! I hope it inspires me to continue eating well.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Today was pretty sparse as I am feeling really bloated ( that time of month ) and when I weighed this morning I was 134, up a pound and a bit:( My birthday is coming up and I would sure love to be back down for that.
Brkfst: oats, ground flaxseed, egg whites
Snack: apple, grapes, tuna
Lunch: chicken, yam, lettuce
Dinner: chicken, yam, green beans
And oops ate the last bite of a chocolate bar that my daughter didn't want, how come us moms just can't waste food, lol.
Hopefully better tomorrow;)

Oh Gwaaad! Do I have to? I would be too embarrassed to say what I've had today. At least I left all those oatmeal raisin cookies a church for a family that has a lot of kids. I'd already had too many of them yesterday.
Okay, a fresh start tomorrow. I brought in a huge head of cabbage and have half of it shredded, salted and draining right now. I see coleslaw in my future.

Let's see if I can stick to this menu for tomorrow:

Breakfast:
Fruit salad (1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 banana)
Eggnog (raw goats milk, raw egg, stevia, nutmeg)

Lunch:
Coleslaw
Egg Salad, maybe on toast or maybe just by itself
Fresh peach w/yogurt

Dinner:
Green Salad/Simple oil & vinegar dressing
Meatloaf
Potatoes (just a little)

Pray for me!

Hmmm... what to have tomorrow.
Maybe you guys will have some yummy plans you can post here with some great ideas.
