Eating clean is easy for me, been doing it for years. The challenge is portion control!! Too much of a good thing isn't always good. My goal is to eat no more than 1/4 cup of my nut mix per day.

Whisper, if you want someone's attention.

I am pretty much eating 100% clean everyday, and about 60-70% raw daily.

Yeah. Going RAW is a big step. 6 months ago, I would have said you were crazy if you though I would go RAW. But, I've seen and learned more since then. And, for me right now, it just makes sense.
Anyhow, I'm glad you like it here! It's great when you are excited about doing something GREAT!

I'm so happy I found this Team. I've been investigating eating RAW for about a year now. I would liken my search to sticking my toe into the shallow end of the pool, BUT afraid to jump in.

I live near Boulder, Colorado. I mecca of naturalists and whole food, organic, old time Hippie culture.

We have 3 or 4 Whole Foods within the area and a competitor, Sunflower Markets. Wonderful Farmer's Markets a RAW FOOD MOVEMENT. I almost joined the Community Raw Food Initiative.

Almost, is not doing.

So, I'm excited to be sinking my teeth into Clean Eating here in a safe environment. Thanks for the support.

Yes. It does... 100% clean is hard at first.
I have only been able to do it, because I really grew up eating quite clean already. (My parents insisted on eating brown rice, bean, lentils and salad ALL the time. lol) But, also because I have completed my CLEANLINESS by doing a little bit at a time.
I am finally CLEAN, but now I am concentrating on eating more RAW foods. Eating RAW makes eating clean look SUPER EASY! LOL!

Funny how another day, can helps us see the light. I appreciate your comments Laura. I think 100% is an ambitious goal. Something to work towards this year. Perhaps, a more realistic goal for my first month would be to eat 65% Clean by the end of the month. Then I can increase it 5% a month and then this summer I can set a goal of 100% in a month. This sounds more reasonable.

That's great Paula! The BEAN COOKIES are one of my favorites!
Also, don't worry if you are not 100% clean. Most of us are not. At least not 100% of the time (although I AM pretty CLOSE! LOL!) emoticon

Today is Tuesday, 02/16 and I have just joined the Team. As I am in the learning curve of Eating Clean, my goal for the month of February is to be Eating 100% Clean by the end of the month, 02/28/10.

Need to be exact about my goals. I think this is doable as I think I am a fairly clean eater already. Just need some fine tuning I'm sure.

I love this TEAM already. And, will be making the Bean Cookies SOON. I'll be back to report.

100% CLEAN today... about 65-70% RAW.

I am way under my calories for the day also, so I am gonna make some clean SPELT, COCONUT cookies. I will post the recipe...
I may even have some organic popcorn with real butter on top. My calorie deficit today is 1300, so I can eat up to about 500 calories. I just want to make sure that they are RELATIVELY healthy calories. But, I have also already had 15 servings of fruit and veggies, and no sugar as of yet.... my cookies will be sweetened with stevia. emoticon

I'm not sure how clean I have been. Total # of calories clean divided by # of calories consumed for the day? I'm getting old so I am a real sight at the grocery store. Reading labels. My glasses slipped down and the item up to my nose.

Exercise is good, calories are still up. But maintaining 5-7 veggies/fruits a day.

I am currently soaking some chickpeas for tomorrow. Hopefully they will be okay. The last beans I tried red kidney) kinda disintegrated :(. I would love to completely switch to dried beans.

Yeah, the doctor told DH about 2 years ago to start using the dried over frozen. It was a learning experience and I still sometimes get the soak time wrong before I cook them. Luckily, they're not very expensive so I have some room to learn!

I am so checking out that cookie recipe Laura! What do they taste like?

Learn how to cook recipes with dried beans, instead of canned. I always bought the canned stuff before. But, I figured I'd try dried, to avoid the extra sodium, etc. My first attempt at a salad including black beans last week was botched. (I soaked them. but somehow missed the step where you have to cook them!! Doh!!) But, I will perservere, and try making chili on Sunday.

01. Avoided the brownies my HD made so no extra calories today.

02. Avoided the extras so no extra calories. Had my eating thrown off so got a mild food headache.

I know what you mean Loren about being hungry more than meets the food need. I've been looking at that in myself. I try to ask myself whenever I'm tempted to eat when unnecessary, "What is it that I'm really hungry for?" "What is it that I feel I lack?". Often at the end of those questions I feel a deep pain. Don't know what it is; probably old stuff that's really hard to dig up.

But a cup of hot herbal tea will often settle down the temptation and give me a sense of comfort. I just have to remember that and then use my will to do it.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

I've been eating pretty clean, so I am focusing on getting all my nutrients with emphasis on my potassium, calcium and magnesium. I've been doing great keeping my sodium intake down, so I want to continue that.

Hi. I need to stay within my calorie range and still get in 7 servings fruits and vegetables. And, up my exercise to 50 min a day.

Clean Eating is a new team for me but I have been trying to eliminate all processed foods since last May when diagnosed with diabetes. I buy organic when I buy my canned beans and tomatoes. That's my one give in. Otherwise I do pretty well. Sodium is till a bit high though. Dairy.

I have been sucking at the whole cleaning thing lately, actually at the whole eating thing. My plan is to plan and prepare so I have or know what I am cooking.

I am working on keeping my non-clean or food extras (clean junk food) down to 3500 calories this month. That way I can still eat out with my work group and celebrate good grades with DH.

I also want to work on not being hungry. I eat pretty well and many times a day but I'm hungry most of the day :(.

I need to eat more veggies and fruits. I'm trying. I'm so lazy sometimes and eat bread and cheese instead. I had 2 duck eggs and a heap of wilted spinach for breakfast and a big green salad for lunch. See, I'm trying!

I eat way to many veggies and fruits... two huge salads, unbelievably huge. I am a pig! I put everything in it hot and cold. It all mixes together anyway. My hubby now does the same thing. I need to get more protien in.

hmm? I already eat veggies w/every meal. I am drinking raw veggie juice once per day. (expensive to make) I eat at least one salad per day, some days two but I can try to make sure I eat two.

I have to figure out how to increase my fiber. I only eat veggies, fruit, fish and ckn breast. Oh, I do eat egg whites w/my veggies some times.

I don't feel like I can eat anymore than I do.

I will think about it, but am open to suggestions as well.

I have been eating pretty clean too. I have been considering having 5 fruits and veggies as the goal. I will up that to 6. Baby steps work best for me.

This month`s challenge:

YOU decide!

Tell us what you want to do as far as eating cleaner, and post your progress.

For me, I eat pretty clean, my sodium is fairly low, my nutrients high. My water intake is good. So, since I am trying to adopt a more RAW FOOD lifestyle, my challenge to myself is to eat at least 65% raw foods in my daily menu (this month) and eventually work up to 80%. To do this, I need to eat most likely at LEAST 10 servings of fruits-veggies a day.
The food cannot be cooked or previously cooked or heated in any way. Thus the term LIVING FOOD.

So, for today, I have calculated that my diet was 100% CLEAN
62% RAW

SO, how will you challenge yourself emoticon
Drink more water emoticon
Eat more fresh fruits emoticon
Eliminate sugar emoticon
Eat 5-6 small meals a day emoticon
