Me too! This last month was SOOO hard, in fact, I need a break, also. I think this month I will try some fun MINI challenges. I liked the sodium one. I just stepped back in the door. I will come back later...
Well, unfortunately I'm out for the next month. I just need a break from worrying about what I eat every SINGLE day. I think I need to trust MYSELF to do the RIGHT THING most of the time. So for now, signing off this challenge until I am ready to be HARDCORE again! Maybe by October.

I have to agree that I'll be glad when this challenge is over. I don't feel that I've done horribly. Lots of great days, but I guess I don't want to worry too much if I have an off day, though it is good to keep it in check. I know I'll be taking September off from the challenge and just do my best to eat well and clean, but certainly may be willing to rejoin by October! Best wishes everyone!

To be quite honest, I am glad this challenge is almost over. It's been really difficult for me to eat clean and healthy this month. Just too much going on, and I have hardly been home. Also, I just got home last night, aND i WILL HEADING OUT OF TOWN AGAIN TOMORROW.Oops! Caps ON! LOL! Anyhow, I think I will retire this challenge when we are through, and try it again in October maybe...

That is from Tosca's book. But, you are right, CLEAN eating is not a new concept (nor is it Tosca's concept). It has been around for a long while. It was YEARS ago I remember a fellow coworker, who was OBVIOUSLT into body building, talking about eating CLEAN food. And, look at Jack Lalane... he has spent a lifetime (and a half! LOL!) eating clean (and juicing)
I am just learning about "clean eating" for the first time (except it's all based on very old ideas!) Your challenge looks good to me! I'd like to join you for this week (next week I'll be travelling with irregular internet access). I'm still fuzzy on what exactly a "clean" or "unclean" food is, but I'm getting a handle on it from the internet and these chat boards.
So: 8/16: 4 (american cheese, popsicle w/ corn syrup, cookie, and wine) And a BUTT LOAD of fresh, farmer's market veggies! YUM!!!
(PS - I find it difficult to find good information on the internet about eating clean. I think Tosca wanted to keep it off the air, so you have to buy her book?)

I am going to use this challenge on an ongoing basis. I am trying to improve my CLEAN eating habits, as I know most of you are also. That's why we are all here. So, anyhow, this is how the challenge will work (and it will work the same every month) We track our food intake, BUT if you eat an UNCLEAN food, you give yourself 1 point. At the end of the day, you post here how many points you received for the day... as well as your TOTAL points. We will run this challenge until midnight, August 31, 2009. At that time, you may have participated in an earlier CLEAN EATING monthly challenge, so you can also put your monthly totals at the end of your post... If you can get through until the end of the month with ZERO points, then you know you are eating 100% clean! NOTE! This challenge is not a competition with each other. For me it is a tool I use to improve my eating habits. I can use it to compare my progress over time. I do not intend for other members to be intimidated or feel like they aren't CLEAN enough to participate. Thanks!
