I simply typed in EATING CLEAN into google and came up with all kinds of stuff. I would also suggest typing the same words into AMAZON, BARNES & NOBLE etc. to find great books, dvds etc.
There are also all kinds of great threads on this team. Threads regarding books, products, websites. Just takes some time to go through it all.

Laura, I have another question for you. (See I gave you a chance to settle in some after your vacation before I bugged you with this...lol) Can Chia Seeds be included in Column B on page 3 of the Planning Guide? I eat them everyday at breakfast and sometimes at my other meals. Thank you!!!

Laura,

This is fantastic. Thank you for putting so much of your time into this.

This comes at a good time because the past week I've struggled tremendously with menu planning. I keep drawing blanks and I'm sooooooo bored with what I'm eating. That's probably why today I cheated. Now I'm feeling yucky and angry both at the same time LOL!

Thank you very much.

The sample menu is meant to just be a guide. It doesn't have to be followed to a "T". I expect everyone to modify where they want to. You also shouldnn't eat the same thing every day.

1) I buy a brown rice/wild rice blend... I can't remember the name brand. I bought such a large sack of it, that I had put it into airtight containers. I threw out the packaging. Brown rice will work just fine, LOVEBEAM.

2) I buy dark, natural, raw, organic cocoa. From the healthfood store. But, the cost may be prohibitive for some. I recomend just buying a DARK cocoa; not DUTCH process.

3) I have portion distorion, so I weigh and measure everything and put it into my tracker. If the calories for the day look a little high, I just do some adjusting.

4) It's freezing here too. You could use the broiler in your oven.

1. What wild rice are you buying? I have been sticking to brown rice b/c i can't find a good blend for a reaonable price.

2. What cocoa do you buy? I have been buying Herseys coco powder

3. I know the book tells you to look at your hand for the portions but that never has worked for me. What are you considering a serving size?

4.are you putting the shrimp/veggies in the oven? Its too cold here to grill...

Thank you for posting this! We just started eating clean here and I need all the help I can get. I've been spending way too much buying lots of good stuff at the grocery store and I need to stop. Your menu looks like an easy way for me to make a list and stick to it. Thank you!

That's a good question! lol! I think it may be a typo. I think it should read CASHEW milk. I'l go and EDIT that right now...

I'm not sure. Olive oil does have a strong taste, I would go with something lighter in flavor. You know... coconut oil would be great! Or a NUT oil... macadamia or walnut oil.
Safflower would also work just fine too. And if you don't mind the taste of the olive oil, I'm sure it would work fine, also...

Great recipe. Thank you!

What is casher milk?

Could you use extra virgin olive oil instead or is the flavor too strong?

Here is the recipe I found that uses carob. It also uses dates for sweetness (which I happen to think is INGENIOUS!)

CAROB HOT COCOA

* 1 qt cashew, almond, coconut, or soy milk
* 3-4 tbsp carob powder
* 5 pitted dates
* pinch of salt
* 1/2 tsp vanilla or 1 tbsp malt syrup
* 2 tbsp soy or safflower oil

Liquify all ingredients except oil until smooth.
Heat, but do not bring to a boil.
Add oil slowly and blend again.

I would definitely buy organic carob. But, I buy organic EVERYTHING! lol! There isn't much for food in my house that isn't organic... Carob is most likely at the health food store, and I am sure there will be organic carob. And, carob chips. I have seen all that stuff at my health food store. If you can't find them locally, let me know and I'll find some web links for ya.
I used to eat carob products quite a bit when I was a kid (my mom used to get it all the time), and I really liked it.
I haven't had carob chips in a LONG time; I just remember that they were "close enough" to tasting like chocolate, (and that's coming from a kid) so it must have been pretty good. We used to eat these carob cookies, if I recall...

Also, a lot of us clean eaters don't eat soy, because most of it is GMO. Just a heads up.

Laura, can you find those substitute recipes using carob for me? Thank you!

Should there be any concerns whether carob is organic or not, or doesn't it matter? Also, do you know anything about carob chips that are like chocolate chips? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

yeah pitted dates I have a whole container in my fridge. I like to slice them in half and put almond butter on them there great.

If you make organic oatmeal its nice to cut some up and put it in while it is cooking, they get soft and the oatmeal is nicely sweetened.

They are good in plain greek yogurt or even just regular organic yogurt.

Carob would be a GREAT substitute!
I also found some carob and hot chocolate recipes that used pitted dates to sweeten instead of sugar. Maybe some of you would want to try that also!

Laura, you did an outstanding job with this! I'm so impressed and grateful for you to spell it out so simply for us to follow.!!!

I do have a question... I do not do chocolate of any kind. Would carob be a good substitute? Or any other suggestions? Thanks!

Jean

Wow Laura!

Very good info! And I must thank you in advance for doing all of this, I know that it takes a lot of time out of your busy schedule!!! I must say that i am impressed! No wonder Amy and I do not see you on the other thread! emoticon

Enjoy life to the "nth" power! If you have goals and aspirations set forth to do them now. Life is too short. Like Nike says...."Just Do It"

Procrastination is not an option. Never say never. Tomorrow is not promised to us. Enjoy!! As my cousin says...."Do you"!!!

I have made up a Menu Planning Guide for the month of March. It has a Mediterranean Diet feel to it.
There is participation required on your part. I haven't created the whole menu for you.
Have fun with it, and ENJOY
