Thanks, TXCHICK30047, for explaining that! I've been ranking between 350 and 470 over the past week, and I'm pretty darn happy about that!!!

Thanks, ZIGGYMOM, for pointing out the relativity of the "Ranking". If any of you really wants to get this in perspective, you can do the math. Take your rank divided by the total number of persons in the group. This will give you your percentile. Using "ZIG" as an example 968/8664=.11 That puts her in the TOP 11%! That's actually REALLY GREAT!!

If you want to track your personal performance to see if you're improving against the group, you might try working the formula for yourself on a consistent basis and keeping track. This way, you can see if you are moving up in the group by lowering your percentile (the number of people above you.)

Ha! We are really competitive, aren't we?! :-D

If these people are documenting that far ahead....it's unfair to them in my eyes. Only because if they end up not doing a routine, do they correct it? In the long run it ends up effecting them not me, you etc...Also lookign at some of the peoples trackers a few of these people are going to end up hurting themselves. Some people are only eating maybe 1000 calories a day and double that in burning calories in just thier physical activities not including what the body automatically burns. So when they reach a goal they will struggle very hard to maintain and possible run the risk of gain most if not all and plus some weight back. Eatting that few calories and burning double that is a set up of failure eventually.

Also if peole are logging ahead because of time.......umm it has to take just as much time to log that far ahead than to do it when it's done.

When I saw I ranked 968, I was like bummer, but then I looked again that's 968 out of 8664...Not so bad after all...Doesn't mean I can't come out ahead of 2160 hrs.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

i personally don't track ahead because i never know what might come up tomorrow or later tonight. i am the friend people call in the middle of the night for help regardless of what it is about. if i am to wore out i am not going to be working out. i prefer to just log it as i go.

Ok, I took a look at some of the fitness minutes logged in this challenge. For example, right now there are 2 people on May 11 that already have 2160 minutes for the month. I looked at one of their pages and she already has her fitness minutes logged for every day of the month! That is SO unfair. I realize I shouldn't be judging my performance against everyone else's, but it's nice to know where you stand, so I look at the leader board and people already have fitness minutes logged for tomorrow and next week. That shouldn't be allowed.

MUSRITE..good point...

Iam ONLY referring to FITNESS minutes here, NOT spinning the wheel, reading articles etc.. to get minutes... So if you're ONLY allowed 120 minutes a day of fitness to log then the ONLY way those people that have over 2000 fitness minutes already is because they are logging for the entire freaking month, which to me is unfair...nuff said!!

You can manually enter your calories burned for any exercise rather than using Spark's calculation. It was decided as an issue of fairness that the maximum daily points and minutes would be two hours, probably to avoid people going to extreme lengths to build up points and minutes.

OK, so I hit the Go to Sparkamerica button (where it displays your fitness mins, etc) and I looked at my fitness that I had added. Under some of it, in little writing, it said, they only consider 120 minutes a day. I just don't get how that works. How can some people have so much fitness minutes if it only allows 120 for cardio. Can anyone explain that one? And, why does it only recognize 120 minutes if I do more then that on some days?

not sure that the question was fully answered ?
do we have access to change the calories if what we have recorded is more than what SP has allowed for a particular exercise?

I'm not sure I understand it this is what it had on mine:

Your May Minutes: 665
Your May Rank: 702

What does rank mean? The minutes is about right I guess. I actually thought it was a bit more but it's close enough. I rest more on the weekends.

Okay I felt so guilty I went out and walked for 40 mins. I feel better and will give myself the pat on the back, for going out to do that. Thanks for the boost of confidence girls. Much needed and appreciated.

I have a question regarding the fitness minutes: I once did a 4 hour hike and added in 240 minutes, however, it only recorded 120. Is there a limit as too how much you can do in a day? I don't get how so many people can have that much fitness minutes if that's the case. If anyone has an answer, I would love it.

Now, Ziggymom, I agree with JMSNSUR. Don't compare your minutes to others. You have to do what you can do & like she said, at least you did 486 minutes and not something else. Give yourself a great, big pat on the back. You deserve it!!

ZIGGYMOM, you shouldn't feel bad about 486 minutes!!! Holy moly! That's over 8 hours of exercise and it's only May 10th. That's great! You chose to exercise for 8 hours instead of doing anything else. :-)

CEEJAY21, as far as people having really high numbers of points and minutes, points can accumulate from lots of places--not just exercise. You get points for spinning the wheel. posting messages, tracking food and fitness, and blogging, and many other site activities. If you're interested in how the top team rankers have so many minutes, click on their name and go to their sparkpage. If they share their fitness tracker, click on the button and take a look at it. It will tell you how many minutes they exercise a day and what they're doing. Hope this helps. You're doing a great job. Keep it up!

you should log them in each time you do them. i know i dont have anywhere near that high a number and i do a treadmill for 35 min each day for 6 days a week, striength 3 times per week ( they really dont recommend more than that as it can damage your muscles and does not do any good. muscles need to rest between times to build up as they should and i have two small dogs which i walk 4 times per day at one half mile each time. now i have added the bootcamp to the mix boy am i pooped haha however it is really paying off not losing a lot of weight but sure dropping the inches. best of luck all

Yes---I think you get 5 minutes for each...you do not want to track in the quick track and the cardio/ST spots....its either the quick track OR the cardio/ST---otherwise you get double, which isn't right...

When you say the rankings, do you mean the Sparkpoint leaderboards or the Fitness minute rankings? YES.

Once I add a strength training exercise, the minutes are automatically added?

You're doing it right. All the cardio minutes and 5 minutes for each strength exercise are added to your fitness minutes for SparkAmerica. When you say the rankings, do you mean the Sparkpoint leaderboards or the Fitness minute rankings?

Okay, so I am doing 2 hours of cardio a day(M-Sat.) and strength training 4-5 days a week, yet my rank is in the 700's. How is that possible? I am logging my cardio minutes everyday. Are you supposed to log any other minutes?

Thanks!
