Hopefully I'm not asking a recurring question, I sifted through some of the posts, but there's just too much for me to sit there and read right now. My question is: I just finished the 28-Day Bootcamp Challenge. I didn't receive an email from this team like I did every week from the 28-DBC stating what new challenges will be added every week to increase intensity and the challenge. Does this team not do that? Do I simply follow the 7-day workout plan for a month? And there's another question, is this challenge officially only a month long? Or just however long you would like to follow it for...? Thanks in advance for your reply(ies)!

The routine is the same, the only difference is the specific exercise videos used.

Is there a difference between Sweatsuit to Swimsuit Bootcamp and Spark Your Body Bootcamp? The only difference I see is one is using resistance bands and the other stability ball.

Check out the 7 day workout plan overview post to see what the workouts are for each day. Then you can post in the Workout Discussion forum if you like.

So this isn't really a question but I want to make sure I have all this straight. (this is my first boot camp!!yay!!) Some of the links say you can just jump right in with the workouts and that they can be done on top of my normal routine, so I guess what I'm looking for here is a "do this tomorrow and post here" kind of answer lol.

oh and thanks for the help I cant wait to get started!!

Thanks for your advice, I know you are right and common sense must prevail. Maybe i have been focusing too much by setting an unrealistic goal. I am what i am and if i still have a tum when i go, i am still in much better shape than i have been for years and have more energy to spend with my family and that is what is really important afterall. I will stop being obsessed and take your advice. Hx

I do think there is a certain amount of body acceptance necessary since there's only so much we can do to change our bodies. Ultimately we are limited by genetics. But if you want to keep working on it, turn your attention to body composition rather than weight. Increase the difficulty of your strength training and add high intensity intervals to your cardio. You probably won't see a dramatic change by the 19th, but try to enjoy the fact that you have lost so much weight. Very few women have a perfect tummy- even the ones on magazine covers do not look like that in real life.

Hi there! I have been working out sensibly but doggedly and following the food goals for over 6 months and i have lost most of the weight I wanted to shift but....there's always one of those isn't there? I can't seem to shift the last little bit, it just sits there on my middle and I am beginning to think there is nothing for it but drastic action. I am getting a bit desperateb because i am going away and will be in a bikini from the 19th of this month. However I know that the quick fix is not the way to go...please advise as i have been at my current weight for 3 months now and am thinking it is my fate to have a doughnut-looking tummy. Many thanks, Hvegx

You probably don't even need to fill in the sets and reps. If you do the video twice, add it to the tracker twice so that you get credit for your fitness minutes- 5 minutes for each exercise entered in the strength tracker. That's why the video is entered in two parts.

OK... so I have yet another question. This may have been answered already, but I am not going to scroll though all of these posts to find the answer... sorry!

How do we log the videos into our ST? I click the link at the bottom of the video and it adds it to my fitness tracker (I am smart enough to be able to figure that out), what I mean is... what do you put into the "Sets/Reps/Weight" part? So far, I have only been doing the videos once (but last night I did two of them to make up for missing Tuesday). I am going to start doing them twice though as I didn't feel once was enough on Monday.

Anyway, thanks for the help! I want to make sure I am tracking everything right!

I lost 25 pounds at an average rate of half a pound a week. It's slow compared to some, but taking it slow usually means it will stay off.

I have about 30 lbs to lose. I guess whether or not that is "alot" is all relative. To someone looking to lose 100lbs, it seems like not much, but it is a lot to me!

I have started using 2lb wrist weights for my regular cardio workout, it definitely worked to increase the intensity of the workout--my HR got higher and I burned more calories. Plus, it adds a bit of ST to the Cardio.

I'll try tonights ST video with the higher level resistance band.

When you get to the point that the exercises feel too easy, you can either do a second set or get a stronger resistance band.
Since you are getting more fit, are you increasing the intensity of your cardio workouts?
Two pounds in 7 weeks is not bad at all, especially if you don't have a lot of weight to lose.

So I managed to buy some resistance bands and am glad I did. I would have no idea how to modify the lower body workouts with hand weights. I have a question though, last night I did the "Monday 8 min lower body". I did it once and then went on to my cardio. I feel like that wasn't enough, like frankly, it didn't do anything. Are we supposed to be doing the ST videos more than once? If so, how many times.

Also, did anyone else notice the muscles in the standing leg working more than the muscles in the leg that was actually doing the stretches? I did... I barely felt it on the leg that was moving, but the leg that was standing, I could feel the muscles (especially my quads), really working.

I really want to make this boot camp work, so any advice or suggestions would be helpful. I have been exercising daily (aside from some sat/sun) for 7 weeks now and have only lost a little less than 2 lbs. I KNOW I am more physically fit (my HR stabilizes much quicker and the same workouts aren't burning as many calories). I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I was getting the "you are burning more calories than suggested" warning on my fitness page. So, I updated my calories per week in the fitness tracker to an average of what I burned over the last couple of weeks, but it didn't change my nutrition goals at all like it suggested would happen. and every so often, it defaults back to the original program settings anyway... I emailed SP about it but haven't heard back yet.

ok--sorry for getting a bit OT there.

Thanks!

Those weights sound fine. You will just need to provide a little bit of resistance. Some of the exercises may need to be modified since you are holding the weight in your hand rather than pulling a band, but it should be apparent.

another question. I am going to be starting this on Sunday, finally yay! BUT, I am not sure if I can find my resistance band by then. I haven't used it since we moved into our house almost a year ago, which means it is likely buried in a box in the basement. The article about the program says you can use weights instead, does it matter what weight weights I use? I have 2 lb and 3 lb weights. Will I have to modify the workouts because I am using weights instead of resistance bands?
Thanks in advance!

You need to go back into your diet goals and manually enter the number of calories you burn weekly so that the calorie range will be adjusted.

I'm getting a warning message that I'm burning more calories than anticipated and should adjust my calorie goals as needed. If I'm burning 1,000-1,500 calories per week, what should my daily nutrition goals be? 1,500-1,800? I've already changed my fitness goals to do cardio 5x/week and the nutrition tracker is still stuck at 1,350-1,750!

ok, so I am a little confused. In the Daily Workouts and Challenges section, it has the "7 Day workout" spelled out with links to the videos. Then there are like 30 more posts with daily workouts. Is this a 7-day challenge, or a 30-day challenge?

I assume you can start anytime since you do it on your own time.
thanks!

I think most of the videos include a short warm-up, but if not you can do some light cardio for 5 minutes, or just do your cardio first then the strength video.

If you feel up to it you can add the bootcamp videos to your current routine. Just be careful not to work the same muscles two days in a row. You could substitute the videos for your current strength routine.

Hi!
First of all THANK YOU for putting together such an amazing boot camp! I'm really excited to getting started on Sunday and looking forward to the challenge!

I do have a question though. For the last three weeks, I've been walking 5 or 6 days a week 30-40 minutes then doing pilates (20-45 min) and additional strength training exercises 3 days a week. Is it ok to still continue with the my pilates and strength training routine that I've been doing on top of the boot camp, or do you just recommend I do the boot camp for four weeks?

Thanks so much!

That would be fine. The purpose of having short daily workouts is to get in the habit of daily exercise. But feel free to arrange the workouts in a way that makes sense for you.

On the strength tracker you get 5 fitness minutes for each exercise, so the video is split so that you get 10 minutes for it.

You don't have to do the workouts twice...some of the workouts are split up on the fitness tracker...not sure why. They suggested doing the videos twice for more a more advanced workout...but I don't think they suggest doing the workouts once when you're just beginning! YOu did the right thing!

I just joined so I started doing the schedule today. I didn't realize that we had to do the videos twice. I mean it makes sense but I'm going from sedintary to this program so the 30mins cardio daily is tough. Dang, I was all proud of myself for doing the video once. lol
When click to add the video to the tracker it comes up as 2 sets automatically and it can't be changed. I'm not sure if it matters tracking wise because I see that only cardio tracks by calories burned.
It is probably best if I just shaddup and do it again. lol emoticon

I could only do the first several exercises in today's workout. It really hurt in my hips and lower abs. I guess I'll have to work up to it. I weigh 189 and have a big stomach, and it must keep me from being able to do these. Is it?

I am finding myself exhausted. I've been following the food tracking, gave up soda, and doing all the required challenges. My boyfriend is concerned that I'm over doing it & have not given my body any time to recover.

So my question is...are there any signs that I should be looking for that are not "normal"?

QUESTION: about min calories... what is best for a day like today... I guess I just made really good choices ~ as in I ate lots, had full meals and snacks, but here I am at the end of the day 400 calories short. it is almost 7:00 at night, and I have just finished supper... I will have a granola bar with my tea, but I already counted that... so do I keep eating even if I'm not hungry? I burned 1050 calories today and have eaten just over 1300. Does one day matter so much... Thanks

~ REMEMBER ~ everyday is day ONE!

LAIAH73 - walking on the off days is fine. Maybe if you were doing a lot more running it would be optimal to not walk on your days off, but in your case I see no problem with it. Walking is great exercise and fine to do every day.

I have been doing, for my cardio, a Couch to 5K plan. In the podcasts and other material I've read it is suggested to take a day off in between. For this I've been just walking at an easy pace for 30 minutes. One article I read said that you had to cross train and not do any walking or running on the off days. I don't really have any other options. I am in a very rural area and don't have a gym nearby. I don't know how to ride a bike and have no workout DVDs. Loading up a 10 minute video on my internet takes 30-45 minutes. A 30 minute video would take forever!
I also HAVE to walk on at least one of my off days since we don't have a car and it is a 20 minute walk to the bus.
This is not meant to be a 'defeatist' message. I really do want to do the right thing since this is my first time to ever learn to run.
How bad is it to be working the same muscles every day?

SWEETKEEKS24 - I don't know of anything planned yet, but because the bootcamp teams have been so popular, I'm sure there will be more coming up. If you haven't done the others, you can always do the workouts from the first Swimsuit Bootcamp and from the New You Bootcamp, or create your own routine using all the Sparkpeople workout videos.

I'm just wondering... is there an additional bootcamp planned for the month of June or possibly July???

I know I can just repeat everything again... but the new routines really help with motivation. Also, I like to prepare with a "start date" so I can get myself recharged. It always helps me stay on track when I have things planned out... that's why I ask. If nothing planned yet... do you know of anything similar to this challenge that is going on for those months?

JOYCEB136 - Have you been using the food tracker the whole time? If not, I bet you will have better results if you start logging everything you eat and staying in the recommended calorie range. If you're already logging, make sure you weigh and measure your food because it's easy to underestimate portion sizes.

AGRANAY, Your waist measurement should be taken at the smaller section of your natural waist, usually located just above the belly button. Your hip measurement should be taken at the your hips on the widest part of your buttocks.

Just out of curiosity, where do you measure your waist and hips?

RUMBAMEL - If you look at the main team page there are several different forums. Each one has a heading and the three most recent or sticky posts listed underneath. If you click on the heading for Daily Workouts and Challenges you will see the posts with challenges for each day.

I had some car troubles, migraines and a wedding going on Thursday-Sunday and missed all the videos and Bonuses. I have cought up on all videos for Thurs-today(Monday the 18th, but have no idea what the bonuses where for Thursday-Sunday. I would like to see if I did them or not. If the were videos I'd love to do them.

Thanks,

LEISA676 - You can always go back and log the exercises on the days you did them.

JAVI_GODOY - If you have dumbbells you may be able to use those for some of the exercises. On others a towel may work. You can also do the exercises with no resistance, just contract you muscles. I've heard a few people say they got a band at Wal-Mart for $7.

I am going on vacation and will not have acess to a computer for the week. Can I do strength training and my cardio and recod them when I get home? If so do I record everything on one day or do the backwards thing and record it on the day I did it? I am really enjoying this challenge but I have been sick and haven't been able to do ir every day, I know I only have two weeks but I would like to complete the challenge. Thanks for your help.

I have a question. I know that the intro says I need a resistance band in order to do the exercises, but I don't have it.. so, is there any chance to replace the band with something else??????
thanx

Ahoy, all!

I made a playlist of the bootcamp videos at youtube. I play them on my tv by using the internet channel on my Wii, so it was helpful to have them all on one page at youtube in my "favorites" on the Wii.

Feel free to use this if it helps you too

Can you just explain that to him and ask him to give you a few minutes of privacy? That seems like a reasonable request. Otherwise maybe you could do it while he's in the shower or doing something else.

I am planning on starting the 7 day workout tomorrow on Sunday. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do the video with no audience? I really dont want to do this infront of my fiance.. How do I get hime to leave the room for a few minutes without hurting his feelings? I'm pretty embarrassed to work out in front of him...
