Your Bonus Challenge for Wednesday (optional) is to boost your fiber intake. Most people don't get the recommended 25-35 grams of fiber daily. Adequate fiber intake can lower your risk for many health problems, including constipation, high cholesterol, weight gain, irritable bowel syndrome, and even cancer of the colon. Always boost your fiber intake slowly and drink plenty of water to avoid discomfort, and rely on foods rather than supplements when possible. Fiber is found in whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruit. Berries in particular are a great source of fiber and antioxidants, so add a handful to cereal, oatmeal or a smoothie for double-duty benefits.
