Thanks for the answers. I have the extra wide regular push it yourself chair but can put floaters on it for a virtual trek I think. Lol I didn't think of pushing things in it. Going to add tent, extra water purification pills, fuel tablets and floaters to my packed things.
Happy to hear no nasty bad bushmasters and death adders on this trek!

I only just found your questions - so here goes:
1 - Yes - I have allowed time in Perth to pick up supplies - in fact it is forbidden to bring any foodstuff into Australia - it has to be dumped at Immigration. I actually can find no reference to bringing in virtual foodstuffs though!!
2 - You are lucky here - you can carry stuff on the wheelchair - the rest of us have to carry everything 600miles on our backs - but you will be in accommodation every weekend - so will be able to wash things. You are not allowed to use the streams for washing - the area we are trekking though is heavily protected and any soaps etc would pollute the water.
3 - Definitely - any way you can save water would be great - but I am also arranging for water to be left at some campsites for us - though water sterilisation pills would be useful too, as you can gather water from the streams then too.- but that must be treated.
4- I have found that virtual snakes can actually bevery curious and friendly - they would never bite!! Any poisonous snakes would be well out of the way
5 - yes - we can pick up food every weekend though also I have organised food to be left for us at some campsites as well - a solid fuel stove weighs maybe 3 - 4oz- and fuel tablets - are very light.
When you all assemble - there will be others needing a tent mate - have no fear!! (especially since we can strap the tent to the wheelchair!!)
Now your wheelchair - you need to ensure its 4 wheel drive or 6wheel drive would be better - wide tyres could be useful too - and it should have floats too for when we cross water -

Okay then finally read the booklets, watched the vidoes and starting to pack. Have some questions though
1)Will we be able to pick up supplies in Perth, like those dehydrated meal packets you mentioned.
2)How much clothing should we take for a 6 week trek? And will there be any way to clean them on the way. It looks like there won't be any streams we can wash them in, or facilities at the stop over nights?
3) They speak of very limited water supplies and bad things in the water around so how do we get the water to cook with or to sort of clean off with. Our Pharmacy here has these cloths that are best heated in microwave but can be sun heated and just wipe off with, no rinse for bed ridden patients. They are light and inexpensive as are packets of dry shampoo so will take some of those.
4)Are there bushmasters among the snakes in Western Austrailia, or venemous snakes? Will anyone be carrying anti venom in case of bite, or should we not plan for that as this is virtual?
5) Do we carry all the food and that for all six weeks at once or are there restocking places at those stops. And how much does a cookstove weigh?
OH!!!! DOES ANYBODY NEED A TENT MATE Will help watch for snakes and swap carrying tent back and forth with you.

I've never been down under...I can't wait to go. Planning on seeing less of me after my trip. I especially want to deflate my chest. So looking forward to a smaller size bra!!

Looking forward to the challenge hike. I cannot walk enough to go the entire way but it will be a load of fun pushing as far as possible. Thank you so much EMMABE1.

Loved the info about where we'll be trekking. You alwyas put so much into these treks. I know I really appreicate the time and effort you put into it. I am so excited to start another one. There are a lot of fun. I do know that you get out of the trek what you put into it.

I am looking forward to it. Getting away will be great. Hopefully all the Strep in this place will be gone in 3 weeks. I cannot walk a lot but I know that I can do one more step each day. lift my hand weights one more time.

well.... first of all, thanks for the AMAZING job you did to work on this trek! I know it takes a great deal of time! Thanks for sacrificing your time for us!

Second - I know that I start one of your treks, and then end up quitting due to time restraints, etc... So, I'm torn between not starting again so that I don't quit, or starting, because I will never see success if I quit starting... SO... I'll be starting again. I need a new pedometer (lost my last one at my daughter's house). I may not do it perfectly, but some is better than none, eh?

Thanks again!

Its actually early morning here – the time in New York now is 4.40pm on Saturday – here in my part of Australia its 6.40am on Sunday morning – whilst in West Australia where we will be trekking its 4.40am on Sunday morning!!

I hope you have been thinking about what to pack in those virtual back packs you will be using for the trek – remember to keep it light – you have to carry them nearly 1000km (600miles)!! (Groan!!)

To get you in the mood and to introduce you to the area and conditions of this trek – I have prepared an Introductory Brochure – you can read, download or print it from – chairexercisefun.com/
click on “Challenges” button on the right hand side of the front page – then open the folder “Bibbulmun Track Virtual Trek”

Incidentally if any of you have Spark friends who are interested in the Trek – they are welcome to join us – they will need to join the team, but they only need to join for the 5 weeks of the trek, and ANY exercise will count – it does not have to be Chair Exercise.

Only 3 weeks to go before the adventure of a lifetime, Trekkers – that will fly past!!
