While I'm currently unemployed, I loved to read on my lunch breaks. My last job only allowed a thirty minute lunch (What I would have given for an hour lunch!) So there was no time to exercise, not to mention the fact that my "lunch" was at 7pm and well walking around after dark in a deserted shopping center parking lot is NOT the safest thing to do. So, instead, I took that time to catch up on my reading. I loved having that thirty minutes a day to block out all the gossip and negativity I was surrounded by at work.

I usually eat a salad at my desk, then walk for 30 to 45 minutes. When I get back to work, I eat a fruit.

Last three weeks I have worked from home instead of office. Back in the office and back to the routine of walking 2 miles then head to the office to eat a salad or something lite!

I walk for 30 minutes then come back to work and eat a giant salad with a lean cuisine at my desk.

I walked for 18 minutes (working up to more), then I ate lunch (shrimp, green beans and broccoli) and, while I was eating, I was on the SP website...
Now it's starting to get to warm to walk at lunch, so I will have to figure out some alternatives.

Wow! I envy you all having so much time to exercise during your lunchtime in the middle of the day. What a blessing that must be. Since I am a K-12 teacher, I have only 15-20 minutes to eat lunch @ my school, and the time varies from day to day (from 11:00-1:00). Most times, when I am eating, I am also working in class, either teaching, monitoring, or doing a lunch duty for younger kids. So, there's not a lot of time to do anything extra.

Yesterday, I had a glorious walk before eating my lunch. Today I should have gone to our Toastmaster meeting (was not looking forward to missing my walk), but work intervened and I worked through lunch...(I did eat later, but the work demands prevented me from walking.) I did walk around the office, but it was not dedicated walking time.......

There is a nice walking trail next to my office. I used to go outside and walk and then I quit. I am going to start doing that again instead of sitting in a fast food place for an hour. Right now it is a bit cold outside but should be warming up soon.

I walk 2 miles then back to the office to eat a salad at my desk. I try to do this 4 out of the 5 days I work at the office.

When it is warmer, I try to get out of the office, if even for a little bit. During my lunch break in general, I eat and relax, either by talking with others or reading, or of course Sparking as I am doing today.

Isn't that a blessing. I used to work in Portland, Oregon at Lewis & Clark Law School which was situated right in the middle of a forested state park. My noontime walk was good for the body and the soul!

We are so busy I usually eat at my desk. But lately I've been trying to walk even if it is inside the building. It helps me to relax. I also will take a book and read that sometimes.

I've been trying to walk every day too at lunch. Also doing extra walking during the day whenever possible.

I walk for 20, Spark and eat, but am working towards walking longer...I also walk more throughout the day - go to a farther coffee bar or take a longer route to a meeting or go to someone's office instead of emailing or calling. It's not all that much of a workout since I don't kick in the turbo motor unlike the lunch walk, but I figure every step helps. Depending on how my legs/knees feel, I will take the stairs when I can...

I spend a half hour eating and a half hour walking. I'm lucky to work at one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country. It's covered with well tended walking paths.
Since most days I only get 10 or 15 minutes and 30 minutes at the most, it's my time to socialize.

I try to do some walking, even if it is walking the halls during bad weather. An audio books is a good idea, just so they don't think you are blocking them out.

I find that while the lunch hour is primarily for eating, an hour is a very long time to just sit and gab with a few other co-workers five days a week. This week, I've found a corner to myself and listened to an audiobook. It relaxes me, I love the opportunity to get in a few more pages, and I don't have to listen to mindless chatter! I think I'll try to mix it up and try something new next week.
