Even tho it's winter and cold in the AM it sounds like lots of you are still eating salads which are healthy and raw food is the best so I thought I'd pass along this salad dressing that you can eat as much as you want - taken from Dr Mark Fuhrman's Eat To Live program:
1 pkg tofu
1 C apple cider vinegar
2 T flaxseeds
1 pint fresh raspberries (or 1 bag frozen berries, thawed)
(Optional - at first this seemed really tart to me but after a few bites I got used to it. You could also add a little bit of agave nectar, maple syrup or Slenda etc at first but is best if you can use as is.)
Put everything into a blender and mix for about 2 minutes. Will thicken slightly. Store in a 1 qt Mason jar - it keeps really well altho you can shake if it settles a little. Makes enough for
4-6 good sized salads.
Because the tofu is a protein that equals about 3 or 4 oz vs 1 oz meat or fowl, you really can eat as much as you want of this. Whoever heard of that when dieting and eating salads!
I love and eat salad everyday, sometimes even for breakfast in which I put either boiled eggs orTuna.This I'll have with 1 tabs Ranch dressing and 2 slices of toast. Lunch or dinner there's always a mixed salad as a filler. for variety we make (a 4'c) cabbage,carrot, celery and Cucumber . Another one is tossed ; all the C vegetables, Onions,bell pepper and tomatoes..Healthy eating.

I love salads and have one nearly every day, and also try for variety. My latest favorite is romaine, spinach, or mixed greens with a Tablespoon of chopped pecans, a Tablespoon of craisins, and a little crumbles feta cheese sprinkled with balsamic vinegar.
I take salads as well. Put chicken in, turkey, tuna. Try to make something different every day I make them. Also make wraps.
Salad is definitely my go to lunch almost every day. I bring them from home because in the city they can be really expensive. It helps out so much if at the beginning of the week I prep all of the veggies and keep them in ziplocks. Then the night before I just throw handfuls of everything on top of some lettuce. It's a great way to get in your daily veggies.
There was a Spinach salad I used to get at an old job I used to work at years ago and it was the best salad, so good, and so healthy!! But it was expensive, it was a guy who owned a mini-restaurant so he had to charge a bit more, and I couldn't splurge for it all of the time

I love salads as well! Due to a stressful, always changing work schedule I try to eat at least 3 every week for lunch. I like to "spice" mine up by adding left over chicken, turkey pepperoni, a little low fat shredded cheese and sometimes even grapes.

Another salad lover here! I am doing the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. And one of the reasons I love it so much, is I can eat salad everyday! I lost 40 pounds about 8 years ago with this diet, but I quit doing it, and now I have started all over.
I use romaine lettuce, since ice burg hurts my stomach. I am also on a cucumber kick. Love them on my lunch salad. I am up for trying some new ideas for my lunch salads though.
I measure out my dressing and put in in a seperate container, so I can either dip my fork in, or pour it all on. No way I can use too much since it's already measured out.
I also throw some cottage cheese into my salad sometimes too.
We are only as healthy as our secrets.
I love salads, too, and eat them for dinner several nights a week. Being a Californian, I love putting avocados in my salad. For me, a salad is not quite a salad without an avocado!!
If I have a salad at a restaurant, I always ask for dressing on the side because they typically put too much on for my liking.
We'll be going on vacation in a couple of weeks, and I just ordered a stash of non-fat dressings to take on the road. (Road trip!!)

Another salad lover here - in fact, in restaurants, I don't even bother adding grilled chicken or shrimp - I actually LIKE the mixed greens.
I'm with you, Debbie! I eat so much salad that some days I swear I'm going to turn into a piece of lettuce. I do love the green stuff, though, and am always on the look-out for variations.
My favorite is probably Greek salad, with a bit of Feta cheese. I do have to watch the Kalamata olives and pepperoncini, now, but I just cut back a bit on the toppings.
I always ask for my dressing on the side, but I love your "fork tine" idea. I'll have to try that next time.

Salad is my number one all time lunch option! so many different combinations and huge volume for your calorie count as long as you watch out for the dressing, 'toppings' add ons....LOL.
Kraft has the 'to go individual dressings' that are easy to keep in my pocketbook or even a pocket if I'm not wanting to carry much with me.
At home and a buffet 'anything fresh, colorful and crunchy gets top billing...then portion controled protein in the form of nuts, meat and/or cheese.
I love feta cheese because a few crumbles packs a lot of flavor!
Another trick my daughter and I use is to order salads with dressing on the side (ALWAYS) then dip the tines of our forks in the dressing...we can finish a huge platter of salad and use less than a tablespoon of dressing this way!
salads are also a great way to get those fruits and veggies in!!!
I'm glad garden season is here and fresh veggies are becoming abundant again...whooo hoooo here's to a Slimming Summer!!
