2-Day Hands-on Workshop with Cecily Fortescue in Stuart Florida
The Pottery of Carlee Weston & Friends, will be hosting a two day, hands-on, Handbuilding Workshop being taught by Cecily Fortescue of New York.
Known for her large slab-built works, Cecily's work is collected on an international level. As every potter knows, simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve. Cecily has achieved this with forms both organic and architectural. To see Cecily's work, please go to my website, www.carleeweston.com, click on the Events link and follow that to Cecily's website. I think you will agree that her work is unique and exciting.
Description: This workshop will focus on handbuilding using hand rolled slab construction. Problems of construction, attachments and stability will be emphasized. Pieces constructed in the workshop will remain at the Pottery until dry, when they will be bisque fired to cone 04 as part of the Workshop package. (Please note, although the Pottery will make every effort to care for the works, the Pottery will in no way be held liable for any damages to the works being bisqued. Participants will have one week after notification that their pieces are fired to pick them up.

I would like to tell you about a very interesting tile project called The International Potters' Path. Located at the Chapel of Art, in the shadow of a 13th century Castle in the UK, this pathway will eventually be 50 square meters completely paved with 5000 tiles. What is unusual about these tiles is hat they are all being made an donated by ceramic artists, potters and tile makers from around the world. You can donate a tile yourself! Details can be found at The Chapel of Art website www.the-coa.org.uk including specifications and some great example of tiles already received. Tiles should reflect you, your environment, your country or culture, and include the name of your town/province or country on it.
