I should NEVER try to do pushups after a weight lifting workout. lol

I think you'll find that doing abs will accumulate far more unless you hold yourself back. It is easier to strengthen them and keep them strengthened than it is to do pushups, in my opijnion. Of course, I don't do as many pushups as I could because I do a full strength training routine several times a week

Sematary great goal idea. I've read that all too often runners neglect to train their upper half. As it is, I'm pretty pathetic at push-ups. I'd like to try to do 30 push ups a day, 3 days a week. There are just over 43 weeks left in the year so I'll plan for those weeks only to give myself 1-2 days worth of "oops" so... 30*3 = 90 per week. 90*43 = 3870 for the year. I'd like to make the same goal for ab moves as well.

My goal is to get through Lent, continue to re-habilitate the hip and start back training April 1 for a June trail race. I already do pushups and crunches daily and don't feel I need to add more to it. emoticon

Great idea! I have been doing daily push-ups since last January and added bicycle crunches last February. And due to a hip injury I got biking home from work in October I added prayer twist lunges into the mix a couple of weeks ago. I do 25 pushup and crunches every morning when I first wake up and four sets of lunges. I am pleased to say that I haven't missed a day of pushups and crunches in a year! Even when I was sick! (took a hang of a LONG time to do the 25 though.... emoticon

I should have set this challenge up earlier (like the beginning of the year) but better late than never!
So here's the challenge...

Do pushups AT Least 3x per week and set your own goal for the year. personally, I would like to do at least 300 per week (3 days per week - 3 sets each time, average of 33 per set). Not sure what that comes out to at the end of the year but i'll go with about 45 weeks at 300 per week = um, 13,000. That actually seems like alot and i want to do other strength training, so i'll go with 10k for the rest of the year - starting tonight. :-)
