Bhuz is a belly dance web site with DVDs for sale.
Rachel Brice's web site Datura has a great new way to rent vids online too, going to try it...

I bought them from Amazon. They're great fun, but they aren't belly dancing. Their toning outside the Jazz one and I wouldn't call the Jazz one light cardio since they're all quite a workout at least for me. I can't even do all the exercises but I keep trying and I can't keep up with her on the Jazz one.

I hope to do a couple of them this morning. I haven't decided which ones but I've only done the Jazz one once so it's time to try again. I might do Pilates or Buns following it.

I completed one of Suhaila's workshops this year. These DVDs are a good refresher!

HAHA!! I found a local class here in Monett at the local college. I'm going to sign up for summer classes if they have some...if not, then definitely fall!

OH! I also rented one of Suhaila's videos and I loved it. I have the others in my queue. I posted a blog about her interview at the end of the yoga video.

Okay, I'll have to check those out. I've only been there once so far since I moved here. It's still an hour away.

I'm going to try to order them. I found these four for $12.99 on Amazon. Probably will be next month before I can do it. I hope this is easy, I'm very much a beginner and even 5 minutes of Veena and Neena is a lot for me (which it wasn't a few years ago when I tried the first time and this is disconcerting...I'm really in bad shape!!)

I can't wait to learn more!! Do you have any other DVD's you recommend for the very early beginner who is really out of shape? I don't think there are any classes near me, so DVD's it is.

I'm going to try the Jazz one again tonight. That was never really my favorite, so I would always put it to the side. I think I just need to give it a second chance.

BTW, they also sell a compilation DVD called "Bellydance Body" which is all four of the "Bonus workouts" from the 4 dvds, and one additional short workout. I haven't bought this one, since I have all 4 dvds, but I'm still curious to know what that additional workout is. Anybody have that disk?

I loved the Suhaila workshops I took at Rakkasah! Just last week I ordered the 4 DVD set, I can't wait until they get here. I'm developing quite a nice library of BD stuff, should keep my interest up very well.

Oi! I forgot how tough the warmup was on the Pilates DVD. Of course, it's nothing like her actual warmup in class or workshops, which are UNBELIEVABLE, but it's still tough. I'd love to be able to get all the way through it without getting tired. Maybe that will be my goal for the rest of the year.

One thing that I noticed about NOW versus when I first got these DVDs is that when she does the bouncy-bounce glute exercises, I USED to have a hard time keeping up. Now I do most of the exercises double-time, just for a challenge. Although the bonus workout on Buns still is an effort. (Those bonus workouts are drills we do in her classes and workshops.)

YAY for gradual and eventual improvement! :)

I bought the boxed set from Amazon for around $50 for last year's birthday. I love the yoga one...it's not too knee intensive as yoga videos go. My knees have this magnetic attraction to the ground...it seems like as soon as I get one healed the other (or the same one) has a sudden urge to violently connect with the ground. I really should wear knee pads 24/7:D Gotta protect the knees for next season... Thia's putting floor work in our choreography and I want to do floor work!

I just checked them out on Ebay. I think I'll put a bid on the jazz one. Then as soon as it arrives I can join the challenge!

For the next few weeks I'll be working about 12 hours a day. I wake up at 5, get to work by 6 work til 6, get home about 7 and then if I'm awake enough I'll have some dinner before showering and going to bed. There's a reason why I've been dancing at the bus stops:D But seriously, I'm going to try to do this. While Thia's in Egypt and India, we have a month off so I'll need to get my dance fix somewhere!

She always recommends you do these workouts for a few weeks before a workshop with her, and I can tell it MAKES A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!

Tribal Fusion, as done by Rachel Brice (or what she DID a couple of years ago), uses a lot of Suhaila's technique -- which isn't surprising since Rachel is/was certified Level One.

I know what you mean though. I keep telling myself, "they are only 30 minutes!" And I'm doing 30-minute Tae Bo for cardio, so that's only an hour -- but it's an hour that's hard to find these days.

LOL I got these last year and I've only done the yoga one and it's wonderful:)
I'll try to fit at least one of these in this week... but as crazy as things are with my schedule, I'll be surprised if I get it in. The jazz one sounds like it might be fun:D

Okay gang, if you haven't already got these DVDs, I wholeheartedly recommend them!

Suhaila's Bellydance Fitness Fusion: Buns, Pilates, Yoga, and Jazz.

You can pick them up cheap on Ebay -- and they are WELL worth the investment. Jazz is a light cardio, the others are toning. Each main workout is about 30 minutes, and there are bonus workouts of about 10 minutes each on each disc. (Those bonus workouts are hard, but they're what Suhaila's students learn in her Level One workshops.) There are also performances on each disc as well.

I did Buns last night for the first time in a long time, and MAN did I feel it! If you work with these Dvds regularly, not only will you get a great body, but you'll have a GREAT understanding of the fundamentals of Suhaila's method of bellydancing.

So -- I challenge you! For the month of August, grab a couple of these DVDs and alternate using them each night, or 4-5 times a week. Report your progress here. Don't be surprised if you get exhausted or can't do the movements as fast as she does. It's okay -- speed and stamina will come with time!
