The Prophet (SAW) said 'The right of a Muslim upon a Muslim are six' It was asked what are they? He replied ' When you meet him, salute him, when he calls you, respond to him, when he seeks advice , give him advice, when he sneezes and praises Allah, respond to him, when he falls ill, visit him, when he dies, follow him (the funeral bier)' (Muslim)

Narrated Shaddad bin Aus:
The Prophet said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: 'Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana 'ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, A'udhu bika min Sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u Laka bini'matika 'alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta." The Prophet added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Actions are judged by intentions

It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu'minin, Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, say:

"Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated."

Abdullah ibn Masood narrates: When the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would read Surah Nasr (110) in his prayer – after its revelation – he would frequently say in the rukoo’ of the prayer the following words thrice: “Subhanak Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahummag fir lee innaka antat Tawwabur Raheem - How perfect You are O Allah, our Lord and I praise You. O Allah, forgive me because you are the most forgiving, most merciful”.

A Bedouin came to the Prophet Mohammed and said, "Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise, if I do it." The Prophet said, "Worship Allah, and worship none along with Him, offer the (five) prescribed compulsory prayers perfectly, pay the compulsory Zakat, and fast the month of Ramadan." The Bedouin said, "By Him, in Whose Hands my life is, I will not do more than this." When he (the Bedouin) left, the Prophet said, "Whoever likes to see a man of Paradise, then he may look at this man."

It was narrated from Abu Salamah that A’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) did not fast in any month more than Sha’ban, and he used to fast all of Sha’ban and he used to say: “Do as much of good deeds as you can, for Allah does not get tired (of giving reward) until you get tired.”

It was narrated from ‘Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No one who has an atom’s-weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, what if a man likes his clothes and his shoes to look good?” He said, “Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty. Umar bin Al- Khattab (ra) narrates: I have heard Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم stating; “Deeds depend upon the
intentions. Every person will get the reward according to his intention. One who has migrated for

salam,
it is very hard , sometime it is not about gossip or stuff like that , but it is about duty we have toward our community so we have to know some news so we have to fulfill our wajebat (duty) and of course sometime or most of time end up with gossip and backbiting, it is very hard to balance, Allah help us be away from backbiting

I will have to give that a try. I used to go running to deal with stuff like that, but with my arthritic knee (and protective husband) it's not really an option anymore.

Backbiting is a problem with most of us. But what I find helps is not calling other ladies too much and keeping to myself. Actually I'm mostly one of the last ones to find out of any gossip in the community and that doesn't bother me.

Maybe you could write out your feelings and then rip the paper up. Just a suggestion.

As Salaamu Alaykum. I find that controlling my tongue is the hardest aspect of my iman. I am one of those women who has to talk to someone when something is bothering me, and many times I am on the verge of backbiting as I am unloading my feelings. This is a great reminder to us that a moment of relief can turn into an eternity of punishment.
