I used the Gentle Flow from Yahweh Yoga. I ordered the DVD Faithful Flow from them as well . . looking forward to getting it and doing it sometimes. I think it is a little harder though, for the intermediate or experienced yogi . . I'll get there

I used the DVD I bought from Yahweh Yoga, the gentle flow one. They have more out and I need to pick them up and work out to a different one. I love this one though . . it has some great ab work . . love it!!! It is 60 minutes long with about 10 minutes of relaxation - 5 at the beginning and 5 at the end . . what a way to start and end the practice!!!

WooHoo!!! 4 days in a row now!!!! I can do this!!!

I used the DVD from Yoga Journal, the morning, noon and evening routine. I did the evening routine, which relaxes you and helps you unwind before going to be. I just have to work back up the the hour one where I do all three routines . . love that one!!! Feel so great afterwards.

Today is my first day back doing yoga!! I have really missed it. The heel gave me a bit of trouble, but I keep on practicing! I can practice now, before it hurt too much! Thank goodness it is on the mend.

I did 20 minutes of Yoga Journal's DVD, morning, noon and evening - the evening routine which is stretching and twisting to relax. Great for the back!!!!

I did 40 minutes to Yoga Journal's Morning, Noon and Evening - I used the morning and noon routine, the 2 more challenging routines. The evening is more stretching than anything. I worked up a sweat and I feel great.

I wanted to get to my yoga class, but I didn't make it. I would have held the class up from starting at 6 PM. So instead I came home, walked SuzieQ and then went in the exercise room and did 40 minutes from my DVD.

I went to my yoga class at Fish Tree Yoga! The class is one and a half hours long, I feel so good afterwards. I really enjoy going to class and getting the instructors input on my form and everything, it helps a lot.

This has been a beautiful week for me through Christ oriented prayer with my body. I started with my Godpell CD. I used Prepare Ye the Way to warm up in mountain, stretch to the side and forward fold. I then became consumed with 3 Things I pray (in triangle): See thee more clearly- I've been calling it shelter with a side warrior stance, one hand back, forward hand over head (some call it reverse warrior), Love thee more dearly - I call it helper, warrior 2 reaching out to help others, and Follow thee more nearly - pyramid. Whenever I fold I imagine bringing myself and my life closer to God and His will in our world.

Today added a beautiful Son Salute flow to Marty Haugen's Love is Flowing - I found it on Napster.

Namaste Everyone- I honor HIS light in you!

Why I love this team is that it's a SUCCESS group - people focused forward, loving people for who they are right now and loving them too much to let them stay that way, always striving for a little better.

Okay this afternoon I tried to do 60 minutes of Yoga Journal's Yoga for Strength and Toning . . Oh my goodness, I could not get through 10 minutes of it. It was too fast or something, maybe to intense for me. I had to stop it and do the morning and noon routine from the Morning, Noon and Evening Yoga from Yoga Journal. I did 40 minutes of yoga to that DVD.

I did 60 minutes to my Yahweh Yoga DVD. I forgot how good I feel afterwards!! It really works my abs(with the leg scoops) and arms(in Plank pose), but I love how I feel afterwards. My muscles have a "tired" feel to them!!

This morning I got up around 7:30 and went into my "exercise room" and did 40 minutes of my Morning, Noon and Evening DVD from Yoga Journal. I did the morning and noon portions.

I have managed to do my yoga for 3 mornings in a row emoticon I am pretty proud of myself.

I hope everyone has a wonderfully blessed day and takes the time to do some yoga today and thank the Lord for all the blessings he has given.

I know its not December 1 yet, but after a not so good November, I am getting back to my Yahweh Yoga at least one day of the weeend! I have got to do something, I am back up to my starting weight emoticon Time to start fresh and do this!!

I did my Morning Yoga from Yoga Journal DVD, it's non-Christian, but I still enjoy it and I pray and thank the Lord for another day that I am able to get up and move. He is so wonderful!!

I did my Morning routine from Yoga Journal. It really wakes me up and gets me ready for my day. Even though it is non-Christian, I usually pray or talk to the Lord as I am doing the poses, thanking Him for another beautiful day!!

Today was Vitality Chair Yoga that I discovered on YouTube looking for exercises in a chair for my bone spur. It's non-Christian, I chose to pray out loud and recite a scripture during the practice. I did parts 1 and 3, 10 minutes long, refreshing and not hurting my foot.

Today I did my PraiseMoves DVD intermediate 20 minute practice. It was very refreshing and though she recited several scriptures, the one that really caught my attention and meditation was Psalm 23. God is our protector, and He wants us to daily walk in peace.

Today is my Yahweh Yoga day. It is an hour long that is why I do it on the weekends, I have more time than during the week. During the week I use the tapes I have taped or bought with 30 minute routines.

The Lord healed the sick and wounded and restored their health. With Christian Yoga we are giving our bodies the rest they need. We are caring for ourselves in order to love and serve God and others better.

I hope everyone is having a great day and had a blessed weekend!!

Meditate on the Lord and He will give you rest.

Does anyone know what Yoga means? According to everything I have ready, yoga started "years ago" and it means "union". I thought that was very interesting.

tonight is my yoga night!! I am going to use the Namasta tape from FitTV, it is non-Christian, but I still enjoy it very much. I just don't like the commercials :-) I try and keep stretching through the commercials so I get a full 30 minutes.

This morning I did the AM yoga for beginners, non-christian. I meditated on God, who He is, what His word says and this verse: For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. Philippians 4:13 NLT

It felt good to stretch, especially after Friday's close call and great timing on my mom's part, avoiding a serious car accident. Even though I suffer with Fibro and a syrinx (both causes chronic pain) I went ahead and pushed myself through the DVD. I'm glad that I did!

Being quiet with God allows us to create enough psychological and spiritual space that God can truly create an inner sanctuary in us. Being quiet enough to hear our Lord's voice is not optional-- it's essential for growth. Let God bless your efforts to get closer to Him and the joy-filled, healthy life He has planned for you!

Remember yoga alone is certainly not the path to finding peace, but true, lasting peace and contentment come only through an on-going relationship with the Lord. So let God's word and this practice together challenge you to get out of your comfort zone in worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Breathing for Relaxation

How simple breath work can lead you to a deep state of relaxation.

Beginning students often ask for instructions on the "right" way to breathe. Alas, there's no single answer to that question, since the optimal breathing pattern at any given moment depends on the type of practice. Restorative yoga focuses solely on relaxation, though, and emphasizes breathing that creates calm and serene states of being. When you settle into restorative poses, try the following techniques for cultivating breathing patterns that are hallmarks of relaxation and well-being.

MOVE THE BELLY WITH THE BREATH. When we are at ease, the diaphragm is the primary engine of the breath. As we inhale, this domelike muscle descends toward the abdomen, displacing the abdominal muscles and gently swelling the belly. As we exhale, the diaphragm releases back toward the heart, enabling the belly to release toward the spine.

KEEP THE UPPER BODY QUIET. During high-stress times, it's common to heave the upper chest and grip the muscles in the shoulders and throat. When we're at rest, the muscles of the upper chest remain soft and relaxed as we breathe, and the real work occurs in the lower rib cage. To promote this type of breathing pattern, consciously relax the jaw, throat, neck, and shoulders, and envision the breath sweeping into the deepest parts of the lungs as you breathe in and out.

BREATHE EASY. Although some breaths may be deeper or faster than others, when we're relaxed, the alternating rhythm of the inhalations and exhalations feels like a lullaby�smooth, soft, and uninterrupted by jerks and jags. Consciously relaxing into this wavelike, oceanic quality of the breath deepens our sense of peace and ease.

LENGTHEN THE EXHALATIONS. When we feel stressed, our exhalations tend to grow short and choppy. When we're relaxed, though, the exhalations extend so completely that they are often longer than the inhalations. Some teachers even instruct that if we're deeply relaxed, each exhalation will be twice as long as the inhalation. To facilitate this, try gently extending each exhalation by one or two seconds.

PAUSE AFTER EACH EXHALATION. In our most relaxed state, the end of each exhalation is punctuated by a short pause. Lingering in this sweet spot can be deeply satisfying and can evoke feelings of profound quiet and stillness.

LET THE WHOLE BODY BREATHE. When we are at ease, the whole body participates in the breathing process. Imagine a sleeping baby: When he breathes in and out, the belly swells and releases, the hips rock to and fro, the shoulders bob, and the spine gently undulates. This offers a mini-massage for the muscles and organs of the whole body, and turns each breath into a soothing melody that further calms and quiets every cell within.
