I was just thinking about this today...that it would be a good exercise to add to my arsenal of things I can do! Now...I wonder where that jump rope is.....

I've started to jump rope, too, but I haven't been timing myself. Will start today and post an update. Keep sparking!

I bought a jump rope a few days ago. I tried it out when I got home and I think I got up to maybe 16 jumps before I messed up. I think I will bring it to work with me (I work nights and am by myself most of the time) and work on increasing how long I can jump. What type of shoes do you think would be best to wear? Something like running shoes or cross trainers? I have a good pair of walking shoes, but I've been meaning to get some good cross trainers for aerobics and other cardio activities.

Jumping rope as an adult was not as fun as I remember it when I was a kid. Things jumped and jiggled that didn't do it then....and I couldn't remember the little verses we did either....I'll have to make one up ahahha....

Jumping rope was always much fun for me when I was a kid. We could go for hours. Not anymore however; just a few jumps at a time. One does have to be careful of your knees and your back. So use some caution.

I'm going to try jump rope this week. If I write about it here then I will remember to do it at least once this week.

I'm not sure how many times I can jump without stopping.

I am getting healthier!

No more excuses!

I can do it!

Wow, now I really surprised myself! This morning I messed up at first, but half way through (after starting again and again) I was able to jump about fourteen times without messing up. The total jumps came out to 33 jumps. Well, I was so pleased that I decided to just see hom many jumps I could get on the next try before I tripped up the rope. 28!!! yes, 28 jumps without stopping!

Okay, I don't expect this every day, but I have a jump rope in hand and I finally found my motivation for exercise.

See You All next time. :)laura

Okay, i have to say i am really out of shape. My first attempt I did make it to 20 jumps, but not all in a row - most was two in a row with a lot of single attempts. tonight, i nearly cried. after my jumps (if you want to call them jumps) i was huffing and puffing. i could not get my feet up off the ground and i messed up on almost every jump. i think i was able to get up to four in a row at one point. i did about 30 jumps because i was determined to JUMP. anyways, i held back the tears, kept trying, and now i am pooped. I will get up in the AM, find my jump rope and try again. it will be interesting to look back in a month or two to see what progress i have made.

And, I did have to plaster my chest down to keep them in place. I think that was more uncomfortable than doing the jumps and messing up.

I would love to give this a try. I may start really low, like 5 jumps at a time, let my feet, legs, knees, etc. get used to it slowly. I've been doing just a few jumping jacks here and there, and so far so good, so I'm hoping for the best. :)

for those who cannot jump, can you walk and move the rope (kinda steping over it?) ... your arms are still moving that way and your legs are moving too ... Just a thought.

I will up the anti to 20 jumps today and then each week will see if I can add five more to make 25 jumps a day ... I really need this to work for me.

I am going home after work today, before I head out for class, and I am going to jump at least 15 times with my jump rope (it is time to take it down and blow the dust off of it) ... AnyOne want to join in and note how many jumps they did today?
