I just signed up for a 12-week matwork pilates class that starts Sunday. I work out with a personal trainer for strength and I take horseback riding lessons. I am hoping the pilates will strengthen my core and give me better balance for jumping. Very excited to try it after reading the enthusiastic responses here!

Not sure about the spelling but has anyone tried yogalites? It supposedly combines yoga and pilates. A friend of mine suggested Pilates a few years ago. I LOVED IT...but I have neck issues now and have been afraid to pick it up again. I did however put myself on the list to get a dvd from the library. It will be awhile before I get it but am curious if anyone has tried it...

I recently bought 10 Minute Solution Slim & Sculpt Pilates with resistance band with Suzanne Bowen. I did Windsor pilates for the last few years but needed a challenge. I sure got it with the resistance band pilates workout, there are 5 ten minute workouts that hit every area, and you sure feel it the next day!!

I have a pilates for dummies which I tried first today. It was about 20 minutes, and I felt it was hard. I used to do pilates, and I want to pick it up again.

I like it because even though I do feel I am getting a work out, I'm not pouring sweat at the end.

I have tried Pilates twice in a gym class. Sadly, I didnt like it either time but I am determined to give it another shot.
Yesterday, while at the library, I checked out the dvd Pilates for Dummies so I will start that tomorrow. I really WANT to like pilates but so far, that hasnt happened for me. Ive heard such great benefits from doing them.
So, wish me luck ! emoticon

I LOVE Pilates. I have the Windsor Pilates videos and sometimes the lady on there drives me nuts but I love how I feel when I get done doing it. I try to do the videos 3-4 x per week. Last winter I took a Pilates class once a week at my work but they quit doing it for the Summer so now I'm trying to get it back up and running.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

I love Pilates in the morning maybe I have become addicted. It really helps me get going and I've stretched for whatever other exercise I manage to fit in.

I find if I miss a session or two of Pilates I'm okay but my body is so addicted to doing Pilates if I go more than 3 or 4 days without it, I start to ache and need to do Pilates to feel "normal". Anyone else have that experience?

I love pilates! I am usually a much more action orientated when I work out but I get upset when I miss my Wednesday pilates class. It is great for stretching and working out your core. It is my relaxing day of exercise and I wouldn't give it up for anything emoticon

I have just started to do Pilates. It is so much fun... and such a good workout. Haha... I can really feel it the next day, and works great when I ride my bike to work every day. I only have a couple of videos but I will be joining a pilates class with a couple of friends at the start of may.

Try a quick search on Carol Bartram, she also posts free videos that are very good for beginners. She's a Pilates instructor in the UK...

I just got a dvd that is for beginners, and really focuses on form. It is meant to prepare you for more classical pilates...kind of a "pre-pilates." Does that tell you how out of shape I'm in. Hahaha.

Blessings,

I typically work out 5 or 6 days a week. I do strength two days and Cardio every day in some shape or form. I always try to fit in some kind of fun extra activity that will burn calories (tennis with my kids or Wii fit). I think you call it incidental exercise.

But my absolute favorite thing to do is Pilates. My daughter and I do this for relaxation around twice a week. I first tried Pilates 5 years ago and was amazed at the results/effect it had on my body. It really did what it said it would - better posture, toning, and after 3 months I could actually do a sit up! For me that was amazing.
