Judith, nice to hear from you.

Sandie - I am glad there is some improvement. I'll keep praying.

I am just now getting on spark. Very busy day, and I don't even have time to tell about it right now.
Have a wonderful day all.

Here it is the last day of February. It sure went fast. Goodbye February, see ya next year.

I am feeling better. Today is the first day in over a week that I have felt almost human. Joy came by after work. She brought us supper from Zaxby's. After we ate she helped me get some things done around the house.

Do have a good last day of this February!

Today is a quiet day for me, I was so busy and had an extremely long day, I really overdid things so have to take it slow today and re-gain my strength...It is kind of nice being quiet and not having to run to meetings and lead a group today, don't get me wrong, I love doing what I do but I must remember that I can't have too many of those days where I'm on the go for 8 hours, my body can't do that now, and it sure is reminding me today and saying, enough already! I stand with you all cheering you on, thanks for your support... emoticon

Sandie - I'm so glad that Joy is coming to help you out a bit.

Today I babysat, like normal. I have some bread in the oven, soup on cooking, for when DH and DS get home. I also worked on some college things, filling out financial aide, etc. Don't feel like I got a lot done today, but there are things crossed off my list.

Good Morning,

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. They have meant much to me. I am better, but have a long ways to go before all is well.

Joy is coming by tomorrow after work. She said for me to not cook that she will bring our supper. That will be nice. Enjop your day!

Sandie - you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God put His hand of healing on you.

Today we had a bunch more snow. We didn't have as good of a turn out at church. Afterwards the deaf took us downtown to tour a famous church dome. We have been in this church for a couple concerts, but this is a whole different area. When you get to the top, what a view! Then we went to a really cool coffee shop - all antiques, even the cups you drink out of and the plates things are served on.

We also just got done practicing music for the farewell party next Sunday. I have another busy week ahead of me.

Kris - Thanks for the explanation. You are right, I would have been saying, "what?"

Ute - yes, I do consider myself to be blessed. However, I do really miss a lot not living near any of the grandblessings. I do get to see them all in just a little over 2 weeks though.

Sandie - you just have one thing after the other lately! So frustrating. I think I would file a complaint too - but then again, I am not living alone. Good idea with the graham crackers and yogurt. I sometimes eat yogurt with cereal. I don't eat a lot of yogurt, but my DH and DS would live on it. Have "fun" unpacking.

Francine - I will fly into Minneapolis and will make a trip to Iowa. One DD lives there. I will not see my 4th child - he lives in FL. But, we plan to see him in August, Lord willing.

The last two weeks have been really a whirlwind for me. We decided to change the college where my DD was going to. So, we have been applying at other colleges, looking at finances, work opportunities, etc. Almost wondered if we were going to fly in two weeks or push it off....so many decisions. We made some good progress yesterday, and have almost decided on a college. The neat thing is that this is the college that I thought I would attend, but God redirected my steps. And this college is only 2 blocks from my middle DD. We always thought is was way too expensive, but after working through some of the grant stuff, I think it might be a really good choice- even cheaper than we imagined. Then I also found out that they have a scholarship weekend - and it is during the time I am in the States! Only God could have arranged that.
But, my eating and exercising has suffered. I just have been too emotional as well as busy to really focus.
I was suppose to be doing counselling this morning, but the gal got sick. She was suppose to come for dinner with her boyfriend tonight as well - so that is probably cancelled. That will actually be a blessing - I have plenty to do.

Oh, one more thing - today is the feast of Purim - I am going to make some Haman taschen - www.chabad.org/blogs/blog_cdo/aid/2129750/
jewish/Chocolate-Dipped-Cream-Cheese-H
amantashen.htm
I enjoy following the Jewish calendar and traditions.

Happy Staurday Ladies,

A quick Good Morning. My goal was to have everything unpacked and put it its place by bedtime tonight. I still want that to happen, but a couple things have gotten in the way. It takes me long enough to accomplish things these days but I will do what I can.

I hope all of you sweet ladies have a wonderful Saturday and weekend.

Good morning ladies,

I have made it into work without incident. We had a terrible snow/rain/ice storm this morning. I was hoping to be ahead of it but when my DH called after he left I decided I'd better get moving. I'm glad I did even though I was driving in it. It was getting worse behind me as I drove in. An hour of knuckle driving and I'm ready for my lunch hour now.

Mariean: 10 grandblessings is amazing. What a nice large family. Where will you be when you come to the states? My son is staying with us until he can save enough money to get a place of his own. He just turned 23 yesterday. It seems like yesterday I was in the hospital having him.

Hi Kris! Nice to meet you. I have forgotten many times to take something out of the freezer for dinner. That's when we usually do a can of soup and grilled cheese or something like that. I would make spaghetti but my DH doesn't like it without any type of meat.

Sandie: I hope you are still able to get the discount for this year. Every little bit helps, Especially when the price of everything else keeps going up. Vent away, we all understand and need to vent once in a while. I'm sorry you had such a bad time with the installer yesterday. But I'm glad that everything is working.

Ute: I hope you were able to relax and give those knees of yours a break. I'm still praying for you. I hope your days at work become less physical for you.

I hope everyone has a great day!! God Bless!

I survived the Charter man yesterday..only with God's help. He acted like he didn't know what he was doing. He had been doing it for 3.5 weeks. He either listened to his raidio (with ear things) or sang out loud. He took personal calls as well. When he was getting the computer right he pulled up three muslin guys...talking. He asked if I had speakers and I told him I keep them turned off. After he left I realized he had disconnected them. Later I asked where that image came from and he told me he just clicked onto something (there were many other things he could have chosen) to be sure it was working. He left the box on top so Jon will have to put it behind the door where it belongs. He was not professional at all. Last time AT&T guy came he was everything this idiot wasn't. My daughter said to complain, but I won't because I don't trust him. He has my address, phone number etc. I am just glad it is over and things are all working.

I have done more than my share of complaining. I guess the older I get the more set in my ways I become. Guess I just ecpect everyone to "Do Right".

Ute, thanks for the encouragement. I heard from the SCDMV...she stated that my vehccle is not attached to my SCDL record, thus it is not picking up my DOB. So I have to make a visit to the DMV office. I will take care of that when I get my driver's license renewed this year.

Last night I had a cup of yogurt. I don't love yogurt, but I can eat it. It was on sale and I had a good coupon, so I got some. I get about half of it eaten then take a couple graham crackers and use them to dip the rest. I try to eat it when I am hungry as it makes it easier.

We are having a stead rain. Enjoy your day!

Hi Kris, nice to meet you... uhm.... .is it a silly question to ask as well.. .what is an ISA?

Mariean, 10 grandblessings, you are just really, really blessed, I say. I have two daughters and surely don't believe between the two of them they would want that many kids. If any. One of them wants children, the other one really doesn't (although she got mad at me the other day when I told her to just give the baby to me if there was ever an "accidental" baby. She said "I would be a great mother!!! I would never give my baby away.... not that I want a baby" lol. Okay.

Well, I have not been doing too great with my eating and exercise today. I tried to do some cardio when I got home from work, but my bones hurt too much to move much. We had so many dogs and had to move so quickly after walks to get all the floors cleaned, that I twisted my knee a bunch of times. Luckily no one saw, lol.

I will now relax a bit. I am already in bed. I will meet Julia's boyfriend for the first time tomorrow evening. I am very excited. He sounds like a very nice kid. She just met him through a friend in the end of December and too, a liking to him pretty quickly. I will keep you all updated on what's going on.

Sandie, I think you have all the rights to get discounts where they are offered. That's what they are there for. And it is not right that you have to fight for them, but keep on doing it. I am sure you are not being unreasonable. You have a small income and need to count your money in order stretch it as far as it will go. You are very frugal. Don't give up!

Okay, girls, to all a good nigh!

RunningOma, my career has mophed a lot in the last 8 years with my company. I started out as the deep night (11p-7a) CT/X-ray tech (I did CAT scans & x-rays for ER & in-patients in a hospital). I did that for 5 years. For the past 3 years, I was the Imaging Supervisor of an off-site/stand-alone ER & outpatient imaging center. I supervised CT, x-ray, ultrasound, bone density, & mammography. I learned a lot...a lot of patience & that I don't care to be in management. As of January, I am the Imaging Systems Administrator for our hospital. I manage several IT systems for the imaging department. X-rays use to be on film & would be filed in a large room & techs & secretaries would pull the needed file. Now everything is digitized & the filing system is called PACS. I manage that along with a couple of other systems that somewhat interact with it. For example, one of the systems,TALK, is the automatic dictation service the physicians use to create reports to go with the exams.

The job I'm in is a relatively new career; it's only been around about 8-10 years & has morphed into something that most wouldn't have dreame up in the beginning. I'm very new in the job & I'm learning A LOT. Luckily, I landed with a great team who have been very helpful in guiding me & encouraging me. I'm the only girl, so I get a little babying as well, I suspect. emoticon

That's probably more than you care to know but usually when I tell people I'm an ISA, they look at me funny & say what is that. emoticon

Sandie - Sometimes you wonder if they are just taking advantage of people, because some would maybe just pay it. Sorry for the frustration.

Kris - I love your screen name - very clever. What do you do for work?

I worked on school reports all day, then took my DD for her eye appointment. We found out the glasses that we brought in last week to replace the glass, they broke. So we ended up picking out new frames. Thankfully, there is no cost to us, just a hassle. It is really weird here, because at this place we don't pay for an appointment, and the glasses themselves were totally free. You can only pick certain ones, but since she wears contacts, they are just to use occasionally.

Nice hearing from you Kris.

Yesterday I became way too frustrated. I received my tax notice to have my vehicle registration renewed. This is the sixth year they have not given me my Senior Discount. I called them but all I get is a long recorded message. No matter which number I press from their menu I get the same recording over and over. It isn't so much the money, but the principle of it. I live on a small SS check and am careful with my money. I emailed them and am waiting for their reply. It is just four dollars, but that is 22. (two for the first year and four for each after).

Sorry to vent, but I tried talking to my many teddy bears about this, but were not listening. They are not like God as He always listens and takes care of us.

I will work on my attitude before I return. Hugs, Sandie

Goofing off at work...it's ok because I worked my booty off this morning. :) Now I'm just counting down the minutes. We've got church tonight & I forgot to lay out meat to thaw. Oh well, guess I'll run into the grocery store on the way home...or have something with the cooked chicken in the fridge...hmm...guess I'll see what my DH wants. ;)

Francine - I now have 10 grandblessings - but one of them I have not held yet. That will be soon though. I fly with my other DD on March 12th. My 4th child got married in August last year, and I think they will wait a while for children too. My other 3 older kids started with their families right away.

Sandie - Summer is so sweet!

Today I babysat, did lots of grading and trying to get the 3rd quarter reports finished for my DD. She has a book to finish before I can mail them though.

Off to bed now.

Good morning Ladies!

I can't believe it's Wednesday again.

Sandie: That was very sweet of you last week to give Summer those gift bags. It worked out for her. Glad you made it home safely. We are getting more snow again. We are expecting up to 5 inches today. Wish I could send you some.

Mariean: My daughter just married last July. I am not expecting any grandblessing for at least a year or so. They need to find jobs, my son in law was just laid off. So he is working through a temporary agency. I hope this will lead to full time employment, but no one can say right now. My daughter is in school studying business management while looking for a part time job.

Ute: Have fun on the 5% Casual Travelers team. I am on the Shooting Stars again. I have done these challenges for a couple of years. I really don't remember how many. I have yet to reach the 5% mark during the 8 weeks, but I am going to make an extra effort this time.

Have a great Wednesday all!

Happy Wednesday!

I was home around ten fifteen, It is an OK drive, had rain all the way. I would rather drive in he rain than have the bright sun in my eyes. I is only about fifty five miles, but the older I get the longer it seems.

Jon came by after work and brought my things in from he car. That was such a big help. Now to get everything put away in their proper place. That will take a few days, but eventually I get it done. That will be a great plus because now I will be able to fill it the third and hopefully every third of the month thereafter. Charlie doesn't know how to act with a full tank of gas. The last week ir two of the month he is usually very close to E.

The night before I left Sara and SUmmer took my car to get air in the tires. One has a slow leak and it had gone down lots. While hey had my car sweet Summer filled my gas tank. Sheis so thoughtful and good to me.

I am going to the grocery this morning for a few things, will just get their specials.

Make it a great day!.

Sandie - Glad you got home safely. That is really nice that Jon will come by and help. Hopefully you have less since you brought all that food.

Today I babysat, worked on the church calendar and sign up lists that needed to be made. I also wrote thank you notes and mailed them along with a book that a family left at our house during a recent visit.
I'm going to be going grocery shopping later. It has been snowing all day long, but it is wet and not a lot is sticking, although the grass is white.

Good Morning,

I will be leaving for home this morning. I have enjoyed my 15 day visit, but it will be good to be home. I usually just stay one week. One thing I don't look forward to doing is unpacking the car and putting everything away. Sara packed the car for me awhile ago.

Trusting all is well with everyone. Have a great day!

Ute - I avoided running all my life. I played volleyball and if we did something wrong, our coach woudl make us run. I tried to be an emoticon so I didn't have to run. I began running at age 48. emoticon Never thought I would ever run. A gal at our church, who is fast and qualified for the Boston Marathon encouraged me to run. I thought about it for quite a while. Then started with the C25K program. Each week I thought I wouldn't be able to go farther, but I did it! Surprized myself. Makes me realize what we are capable of, because I never thought I would run....ever!
My DD will be staying with one of my other DD's until college in the fall. Then she will stay on campus.

Sandie - enjoy your last day there and have a safe trip home!

I did go on a run today, not quite 3 miles. And, I stayed in my calorie range for a change.

In CHRIST I can!

Today is President's Day - No mail or bank service etc for today.

The ice on our roads was gone before ten yesterday morning. There is still a little, very little snow left on the grounds. We had 2-3 inches of snow depending on which side of town. Summer got home from NC last night. She had a really nice time.

This is my last full day here. It has been a fun visit, but I am more than ready for home. If Summer wasn't off work today I would be gone, but wanted to spend this last day with her.

Since the sun will be behind me in the morning, I will be able to leave fairly early. I will be pleased if I am on my way by nine.

LOL, Mariean, I am so glad you stopped "spinning" for a bit and got yourself a day of rest. Makes perfect sense to get more calories out of the way by upping the exercise intensity. I never got into running, because it gave me such a hunted facial expression, lol (naw, my hip bones started clicking and that was the end of my jogging career).

Where will your daughter stay when she is in the States? Can she stay with relatives of yours or is she going to stay at a dorm? She is finishing up 12th grade, right?

Well, time to turn in myself. Hugs to all!

Ute - I actually do stop moving...occassionally. I did NO exercise today. When I started spark I walked daily, other than Sunday. We sometimes did a Sunday walk, but it wasn't what I would consider exercise. Then I started running, because I could burn just as many calories in 3 days a week as I did when I was walking 5-6 days a week. It was good, until I couldn't really run due to the weather. So, the winter months are harder for exercise for me. I prefer outside. The reason for the longer walk was a challenge on a team to do something longer, or lift a heavier weight, or the like. I ran/walked 10K before, so I went slightly longer to reach that goal.

Sandie - So glad you thought of that for Summer. It might have been difficult for her if she didn't have anything. I'm thrilled you got some snow, even if it didn't last long.

We had a really good turn out at church today. Then we had company, very enjoyable. I had enough leftovers to put in the freezer for my DH and DS when my DD and I travel to the States next month. I have 3 meals in there so far. Some things they will make, and I am sure others will have them over for a meal and they will go out for a doner kebab, no doubt.

Time to turn in for the night.

I am so happy for you, Sandie that you at least got to look at the snow flakes, lol. And the dinner sounds amazing.

You did the right thing advising Summer on how that whole VDay thing works. Oh, young love, there is nothing cuter!!

I am trying to get the house warmed up this morning. It is freezing out!!! My toes are very cold and the wood stove doesn't seem to keep me warm as it should. Fine I will give it another few logs. And hopefully I will be more toasty. I have exercise tape planned for today. I can't walk both dogs at the same time, and it is too cold for me anyway, I will have to find an alternative for them. Maybe I will play some obedience games with them, or do some canine freestyle moves with them. They always love that game as well.

Hugs to all and a blessed Sunday!

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday morning we had some lovely snow flakes, but they melted as they got to the ground. Then after lunch we had the loveliest large flakes that kept coming down for well over an hour They were so pretty. It will all be melted by this afternoon. I love snow and appreciate what we had, but it didn't last nearly long enough.

Monday morning I am making a four layer chocolate pie and a batch of those bacon wrapped lil sausages drenched in brown sugar, Summer loves them. She is treating us to supper Monday evening. My plans are to head home Tuesday morning.

My Valentine gift plan worked well. Jake had Summer some pink (her favorite color) roses and candy. I had told her most of the time when "couples" and others say no gifts they usually go ahead and get something. She says that isn't right, but she will learn.

Have a blessed day. Hugs!

Wow, Mariean, you just never stop moving!!!! I notice how much more energy I have the more I move, so that's been nice. I used to go on 5 mile walks every weekend, and I will easy my way back into it come Spring. We have a few very nice tours around the house I can walk. Funny enough, my lab is older now, so I have to be careful not to exhaust her. She has no self control and runs until she hurts. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I would love to take them on a nice walk in the park. The weather is supposed to be okay.

Hugs to all, and to all a great Sunday!

Got out for a 10K+ walk today. It snowed a little early in the day, but by noon it was warmer and safe to walk.

Taught my Bible study and cleaned church today too.

Tomorrow we are having company. I will get up early and finish getting everything ready for the meal.

Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow.

Good morning lovely ladies!
How are you all doing? I am sitting cozy in my bed, snuggled up with my puppies, waiting for my hubby to come home with coffee and egg sandwich for me. He always does that when he had night shift on weekends. He stops at this little snack trailer where they make everything fresh. So I can't wait. Then tonight, we will go meet his old Army buddy for dinner. He found us again after 20 years, and it turns out he doesn't live too far from us :)

Other than that, the pre challenge for our 5% Winter into Spring challenge starts today. I was placed on the Casual Traveler team, a team that does not compete, but just encourages each other on our quest to better health and fitness. With my challenged knees that is the best team! So I will make sure to be an avid participant and encourage the other team members.

Hugs to all!

It is hard to believe we are past being in the middle of the second month of the year already. Time does not wait on anyone, that is for sure. I am looking forward to returning home, probably Tuesday morning.

Mariean, I don't like Burger King's ff. Actually I don't care for their food, but Sara got us those chicken sandwiches which was OK. I love MacDonalds ff and their grilled chicken sandwich (which costs too much) I love Chick -Fil-A. I use to eat lots of fast food, but have cut down lots. I have to be desperate to eat their hamburgers.

I had to go round and round with the cable and phone people. The phone place added 17.10 to my regular bill. They corrected it. Then I called the cable place to make an apt for my computer and phone to be added. It seems the guy I spoke with along with the girl I called the next day to verify what I was told were wrong. He was quoting what it would be to add the other two services...plus what I all ready have with cable. I asked them both if that would be my total bill every month. They said it would. I was going to sign up then, but they said to wait until I returned home to make an apt. If I keep just cable it will be nearly twenty dollars more. If I add the other two things it will be 125. plus taxes for all three services. I was looking forward to the new phone service as it would give me free long distance. I will probably call them back this morning to set up the service. It is still less than AT&T considering the extras I get. One bad thing is in twelve months it will go up twenty more dollars because the computer service is a special. I would cross that bridge when it happens. It seems to me one could call the service people for quotes for five days and get five different replies. Oh to be back in the fifties when life was sweet and simple.

Last night Sara brought home a pizza for supper. When I get home I want to limit many foods for awhile. I will never give up anything forever, but I will for a time. I will tell Sara I want tuna for lunch. She can fix her something else as she doesn't eat tuna.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Francine - yes, time does fly. My oldest is already 29! And my baby is 16! Just yesterday they were babies, and now I have 10 grandblessings!

Sandie - What a great idea about the valentines present. I'm guessing you don't like Burger King's FF but you do like McD's fries?

Well, time to get these weary bones into bed - where I will do a little reading before the lights go out.

Good Morning Ladies,

I guess I was a little sneaky, but I am always watching out for Summer. Jake called Sara to ask what kind of candy Summer prefers. They had decided not to exchange Valentine gifts, as they are both trying to save money. I called Summer and shared what I heard with her. I told her I had a solution for her if he gave her something. I had prepared both her and Jake Valentine bags. I didn't put their names on them. I told her to keep one bag with her things and put the other one where she can get to it, like back seat or trunk of car. That way if he gives her something, she can give him that bag of candy..it is in a nice Valentine bag with a teddy bear on it and some special words. I didn't want her to feel badly if he did give her something. If he doesn't then they can both have bags from me. What we won't do for the Grandblessings! She knows she can count on me and that pleases me.

Last night Sara called to say she was bringing us chicken sandwiches from Burger King. I told her no fries for me and that I wanted mine the same way she likes them,.. plain. When she came home she had the two sandwiches plus she had stopped by McDonalds to get FF. Just what I didn't need, but they were good.

Enjoy your day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I have had a very busy week at work so far. Everyone here is getting strep throat. Now my office manager has it and decided to come in to work.

Sandie: Time does fly by. I can't believe my boy is going to be 23 next week. my daughter is going to be 22 next month. They have grown so quickly.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I woke up at 3....couldn't get back to sleep. Finally dragged myself out of bed at 4:30. Cleaned the bathroom, including the storage shelves. Then cleaned the cupboard under the sink. I found a bottle of liquid soup that had spilled in there some, so was glad I discovered that. Then I made some lemon poppy seed muffins, in the shape of a emoticon and then made some baked eggs, also in the shape of a heart. I always hide hershey's kisses for my DH - since our very first Valentine's day. This is our 33rd together! So, I got those hid around the house this afternoon.
Also took my DD for an eye appointment and went to the bank. We are getting company later, so I am going to try to close my eyes for a few minutes and see if I can get a few winks.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies, emoticon

Last night we had rosemary and garlic chicken tenders with potatoes prepared in the oven. Summer just had time to change clothes then she was off to her other job. Sara took her a supper plate. When she got home just after eleven she had to finish packing and pack her car. She works half a day this morning then will be on her way to NC.

I got their Valentine goodies completed. Summer took Joy's to work with her. Joy is going by her department to get it. I made one for Jake and one for Summer. Sara gets one too! Grandma doesn't! Although I did take a taste or two.

Therer are no plans of preparing meals until Sunday night when Summer returns home. Monday she is off. I hope she gets some much needed rest and sleep. Then that evening she is treating us to chicken strip plates from a hometown place that has the best strips.

Happy Valentines Day! May your day be wonderful and special. emoticon

Today, my baby boy Jaime turns 41. How the years do fly. I see him the least of all my kids. I emailed him to say I would be in Union. He wrote back that he will stop by one day. No word from him yet. I need to remind him that I am here.

Our chili was good. I hadn't had any in some time. I was rather disturbed because I had brought with me a bag of oyster crackers I had just purchased. I remember putting them where they would not get mashed. I looked through things four times and no crackers. At the last minute I found them. They had fallen behind the little toaster oven.

Yesterday I hand washed Summer's favorite bra. Her Mom doesn't do laundry like her Mom (me). I separate all my loads and I don't overload the machine.
Anyhow, I washed it and decided to put it on a plastic hanger and hang it out on a short flag pole that was vacant hanging off the small porch. I thought the sun would be good for it. When Sara came home she asked what kind of flag was hanging. I told her I best bring it in before Summer got home from work. It was dried except for the thick cups. I hung it over a heat thingy.

This morning I need to go to the BiLo for just a couple things. I won't be gone long as I have to get back to make their Valentine treats.

Sandie - oh, the grandma's heart. I know what you mean. When I am with my grandblessings, no matter how many times I have read the same book, or played the same game, I just can't say no. Dinner sounds so good. I made a stew in the crockpot yesterday.

Ute - My DD will be moving out soon. emoticon because she is emoticon and going on to college. I have briefly thought about what I will do with her room, and then I don't want to think about it...figured after she is gone a while, I may redo it some. It has pink curtains, so those will likely be changed so they are a bit more neutral. But I want to leave a place for her to sleep there too. I am praying she will be able to come home for Christmas at least.

Yesterday I went out walking. I walked 3 miles while the boy I babysit was sleeping. Then I walked to Bible study and back. I got in over 5 miles for the day. It started snowing the first time I went out, and has continued to snow, even overnight. Today I will choose a DVD and do exercise that way.
Off to do some grading and updating the school planners.

Good Morning,

Uti, I am not that inspired myself, but it something that has to be done. I am waiting for Joy to give me a day she can help.

Tonight I am having chili prepared in the crock pot. With it will be oyster crackers and Ranch, bacon, and cheese pinwheels, Summer loves them. I asked if they wanted a salad and they both said no thanks.

As of now, I will be going home a week from today. This is the longest I have stayed. It is hard to tell Summer no.

Phooey, Sandie.... must you inspire me to organize my house? Hope you have a good time with it. It always seems to get more and more once you start, but it is so satisfying when you are done. I have a few rooms that could use some love :) Started with my daughter Julia's room last weekend. Since she's moved to NYC, I am slowly turning it in to my library/office, all the while keeping at least a boxspring/mattress in there and her personal belongings, so she doesn't feel kicked out.

Mariean, I laughed out loud at your little stories, and I actually had my daughter Sarah read it. She too can relate, having lived in Germany until age 10 and then always speaking "mixed". I have actually used the sinvoll myself, lol. It just slips out so easily :) :) :)

Sandie - Sounds like Summer would like you to move in permanently! Happy organizing when it gets that far. I know it is a lot of work, but it feels really good to get that kind of thing done.

Ute - I can relate. We speak really mixed here. Our kids like to "pull" cards when playing games and those kinds of phrases happen often. My youngest used to say after a meal "Can I stand up?" rather than "May I be excused."
Once I was reading some books about the amish. They are novels. But after a couple of them, I picked up something else to read that was challenging my life instead of entertaining. My DH asked me, "Are you all out of Amish books?" I told him "No, I just thought I would read something sinvoll." And of course you know how that sounds! emoticon
Sandie - sinvoll means sensible.

Okay, time to get back to work. Have a great and blesssed Monday!

Happy Monday!

Yesterday afternoon before she left for work, Summer asked me when was I coming back. I told her I haven't left from this visit yet. It will be awhile because I am going to embark on a major house organizing thing. If I haven't used it in over five years, it will go in a box marked..."Summer" and to the building.

May each of you have a wonderful week.

Mariean, sounds like you had a relaxing day! Even though you had to get up an hour earlier :) My hubby is an RN and always loved the ICU with all its excitement. He actually got his RN Diploma in a German hospital when our girls were just babies. In German, although he didn't speak it when we moved over there, lol. Yep, he's one of those talented people. He is fluent in German in the meantime, but only gets to speak it when my parents are around or when his friends call from Germany. The girls and I speak English with him, and German with one another. Since he is fluent in German, our conversations are always held in both languages, depending on who we look at :) It gets confusing for our friends. ....

Alright I will go to bed now. I have to get up at 5 am.
To all a great Monday!

Uta - That is nice of your DH - and like you said, you can track it. What does your DH do in the ICU - that has got to be a challenging job.

Sandie - I like both CVS and Walgreen's - obviously we don't have those here. I have a similar store here I like.

Today we had communion at 9 and church at 10. Then we went out to eat with a couple in our church. Then my DD and I took the tram to see where she will be going to babysit tomorrow. The family gave her a ticket for the tram that she can use so we decided to use it today (it is good on the weekends for 2 adults). We went to the train station and just looked around.

Off to play a game with the family.

Hi Ladies,

Our sliders were good last night. I held myself to eating just one. They ate more.

In the morning I will go to CVS for some Valentine candies. I want to make the girls a couple things. There isn't a Walgreen's here is why I have to go to CVS. I get my Rx's at CVS, but prefer Walgreen's for other things.

I saw a wonderful UNC/Miami game yesterday. UNC got slaughtered...yes!

Make it a special Sunday! Hugs!

THanks Mariean, I sent you a Spark Mail....
So yesterday I had a nice run of healthy fiber rich foods, and this morning I got up and sifted through my DVR choices. I had taped a rerun of Gilad's Bodies in Motion from the 90's recently and started out my day with that. He just makes me laugh, and he is such a goof. I got a nice very low impact, but heart healthy cardio workout and then did some modified floor exercises and ab work. Then I had a healthy smoothie. My hubby is coming home soon. He works nights in the ICU at a hospital pretty far away, so he always brings me an egg sandwich and coffee from the little snack trailer halfway to our house. He enjoys the break from driving (it is almost an hour commute, and he gets tired after his 12 hours night shift). So am expecting that. Not the best food, but hey, I will track it, and I already got a great head start today. I also want to continue knitting my blanket squares for the Knit-A-Square project in South Africa. I have so many squares, but have not send them on yet. There is still room in the package, so while catching up on some shows, I will do some of that :)

To all of you a great day, and enjoy the love of our Lord!!

Ute - If you want to spark mail me your e-mail address, I can send you what I have. It is 6 sessions. Most of it is really passed down to me from my pastor's wife who really made a huge impact on me. My mom was a great housekeeper, but as a kid you often don't pay attention.
Two tips that I tell people is:
1. Only handle things once. That means, when you take off your shoes, you put them away, not leave them lay. Or your coat gets hung up, not thrown over a chair and later get hung up.
2. Always improve a room before you leave it.

Okay - getting late here. I need to get to bed. We have the Lord's supper tomorrow and that service is an hour earlier.

Sandie, I just heard about the Pioneer Woman from a co worker who loves her blog and always brings in fresh bread and baked goods for all of us. I will have to check her out!

Francine, thanks for the prayers for my knees. :)

Mariean, I would love to hear a bible study about home management. I don't want to be fresh, but would I be able to get the transcript? If not, do you have some bible verses to share with us about it?

Well, the last two days went by so fast, I didn't log on to Sparkpeople or log my food. I also didn't do so well when it came to eating or exercise. So I started out my day with a nice healthy jump start smoothie and I threw everything in that I believe my body needs, fruit, kale, ginger, yogurt and flax seed :) And then I went to shovel snow, so I already burned some pesky calories. I feel great and will enjoy the morning now :)

To all a great Saturday!

Good Morning Ladies,

Saturday arrived rather fast. We had a nice time last night, all us girls, Me, Joy, Sara, and Summer. They all seemed to enjoy their supper. I think some people would call it "Dinner". We have always had lunch at noonish, supper at night. Dinner was reserved for Sunday's and Holidays.

When Sara went out to leave she had a flat tire. She took my car. She must have been a little desperate as she doesn't like my car. I wonder if it is the gray fuzzy thing dressing my steering wheel? I never wear a coat, so that keeps my hands warm. It also keeps the wheel cool during the summertime.

Today we are having BBG bacon CB Sliders with FF. Summer works 7-3, so we will have them for supper. I like cooking for more than just me.

It is almost 2pm and I feel like I just got up!
Need to get out for a walk. It is snowy, but sunny.

Francine - one of the perks of being married to a butcher. My grandfather was a butcher, but we saw him only 1x a year if that. I remember once visiting the shop. We called him the M&M grandpa because when we did see him, he gave us M&M's. We lived in CO and he lived in MN.

Sandie - Your food sounds super yummy! - I'd be going for the cheesecake for sure! One of my favorite desserts.

Okay, better get busy. I'm going to also clean our old oven today. We are giving it to a young couple. Our apartment came with a new stove, so we have stored this other one in the basement and it needs to get cleaned up a bit.

I don't know if I should say Good Morning or Good Night. I fell asleep at the end of a great Duk' Basketball game. Woke awhile later and haven;t been able to get back to sleep since. I am too much awake.

Francine, how nice having a butcher in the house.

Tonight I am preparing scalloped potatoes with pork chops baked under them, beets, tiny peas, and Caramel Pretzel cheese cake. Summer had to work over a few minutes so she didn't get home until twenty till six, had to change clothes and be at her second job at six. I put her supper in a carry plate to take with her.

Make it a great Friday!

Good morning ladies,
Cutting wings is easy only for those that do it all the time. I am married to a butcher, so I let him do all the work at work and he just brings it home with him.

Enjoy your day!

Today I finished translating my Ladies Bible study. I needed to do it early so DH could check the German. He only had to call me twice to find out what I was trying to say! lol!
I wrote a Bible study many years ago on home management - presented it in my home church and then also at a ladies conference here one time. But I have never done it in German. So I am translating as I go. It is a good refresher for me too.

I also got a couple litle jobs done. However, I need to tidy up the livingroom. My DD has been making stacks of things in the living room of things to give away, things to store, etc. Who knew she could fit all this stuff in her tiny little room! I'm glad there are a couple little girls at church who will enjoy some notebooks, etc.

Sandie - sounds like you are getting a lot of cooking/baking done. I'll do some next week. I want to make some things for valentine's day - and we are having company too, so it will be double purpose.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi Ladies,

I had a post written then lost it. Not much new here. My hot wings were good, but Summer and I had a time cutting them. The butcher said it was easy...not. Tonight is leftovers from Monday. Today Summer works two jobs, so she will come home and change and leave again, getting off at eleven.

The temp now is a pleasant 47.

This week is going right along. Time just seems to go way to fast. Enjoy your day!

Good morning ladies,

Having a tough day at work today. Trying to update a software and my computer doesn't like it so it will not update it. It's our new accounting software that we haven't actually started using but it looks like I am not going to be able to change if the IT dept doesn't get this fixed. We are supposed to be playing around in it to get used to it and I can't even get into it. Oh well. One day maybe.

Mariean: A nice walk even though you couldn't get in the church.

Sandie: Those sound like great recipes.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Ladies,

I will be going to the grocery for a few things. I miss Publix. All they have here is BiLo and a locally owned grocery store. And WalMart, but I rarely go there. Perhaps 3-4 times a year, wanting to get that reduced until it is down to zero.

Tonight I am making hot wings, using a recipe from the "Pioneer Woman" on FoodNetwork. Also making some cinnamon and sugar things from "The Chew".

I want to prepare a bread pudding. One day Sara is going to help me make a caramel pretzel cheese cake we saw on "The Chew" this morning.

Mariean, that marching in place when going to the bathroom works. I use to do that along with leg exercises from my desk chair and during commercials march in place. I need to get back to doing these things.

I best get ready to leave. WNjoy your day!

Didn't check in yesterday. We had company all day. Did manage to get in a 2 mile walk. We were going to walk to church to show them our building, and realized after we got there, my DH forgot the keys! So, we just walked back.

Felt like we were eating all day - really not, but we don't usually have cake, so it was like an extra meal. I was still down .2 of a pound. I have begun to not eat after 8pm and that is helping.

Will be leaving for the grocery store here in a few minutes.

In CHRIST I can!

Good morning ladies,

Sunny: Glad to hear you sister is doing well. I will continue prayers for her for a complete and full recovery.

Ute: Yes plenty of snow. We then had rain and more snow again. I agree with the others about your vocation being important and was glad to hear that they will re-write your job description so they don't lose you as you are and must be very valuable to them. I will keep you in prayer also for your knees to get better.

Mariean: So glad your visit went well with family. Hope you had enough rest afterwards.

Sandie: Hope you have a great visit. I will keep you in prayer for the heeling of your foot. Rest and stay off your feet as much as possible.

Take care ladies and have a wonderful Tuesday!

Good Morning,

Jon came by on his way to work yesterday and helped me get everything to the car. When I got here Sara brought things in for me as I put them away. When it comes to doing things, especially heavy things, I realize I am not what I use to be. The trip went rather fast, no traffic and nice weather.

We turned my thermostat down to 55, but then the heat came one. It said it was 66 indoors. I don't know why the heat came on. I didn't think it would come on until the room was 55. In the winter I keep it set on 67, so perhaps the 55 setting didn't hold. Something I guess I will find out when I get home.

Sadie slept with me last night. She is the youngest of their two Jack Russell's. She crawls completely under the covers. Sophie is the other one.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hello all you lovely ladies!!!! I weighed in at 202 this morning, 2 pounds up from last week. I did learn a ton over the last few weeks, though. One thing being that I can fit little bits of exercise in whenever, and in between. And I have utilized that so often. Step ups and stretches, and little bouts of lifting my little dumbells. So that has been great. I have tracked my food every day and I am very careful what I eat, and how much of it. I really feel a lot better! I will continue to weigh in on Mondays because I also belong to a Mini Challenge Team that has a new Challenge every Monday morning. This week we need to monitor our calcium intake. Looks like I really need to educate myself about calcium, because I have trouble meeting my goal any day.

Well, I better get a workout in before I get cozy on the couch. It seems like me treadmill is not working (I have not used it in forever, must have the hubby look what's wrong), so I am putting my step in front of the TV and I will just do simple step ups, no twists so my knee doesn't start crying :) To all a good night!

Happy Monday!

Congratulations Baltimore Tavens!

I woke too early, but I still have much to do. I will be able to stay off my foot more when I fget there. About all I will do is prepare meals. My heel hurt too much last night. Yesterday I tried using the ointment I put on my knees, but it didn't work. Last night I put my reliable Vicks on my heel and again before I turned in. This morning it feels better than it has in days. I use Vicks on one thing or another most every day.

I will probably leave around ten. If I leave too early the sun will shine in my eyes the whole way.

Enjoy your day Ladies.

Church today with 2 new visitors. Good message. DH is preaching through I Cor. and is in Ch. 14. Being simple concerning evil. I don't know if that is a direct quote - I am always listening in German so am translating with what I remember.

Sandie - Have a wonderful time. I know your family will appreciate all the nice meals you do for them. I do pray you can stay off your feet enough so that your pain doesn't increase.

After lunch today I made a "heaven's cake". It has several layers. You make a kind of cookie dough, then roll it out in a circle and make a meringue that you spread over the raw cookie dough and sprinkle with sliced almonds. Tomorrow morning I will make whip cream that will be put in between each layer. We are having company, so I wanted to get that done today. I also made brownies that we will cut in tiny squares and make a parfait.
Going to make meatball sandwiches and veggies and dip. That is what my family requested. Then will make chili and corn bread for dinner.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi Ladies,

There is pop corn for tonight's game. I don't have a favorite team. Yet one needs to have one to enjoy the game. I will be wanting Baltimore to win. I don't care for the attitude of SF. I don't watch the commercials or half time, just the game, if it is a good one, if not I will use my remote to check on it. I asked Sara which team she wanted to win. She said "the Patriots". I told her she is in the wrong year. She laughed and said she just likes the commercials.

My heel is a little better, as long as I don't walk on it. I've been doing some foot exercises that are supposed to help. When I had that Plantar fasciitis last year I would roll my arch on a solid bottle of ice. That doesn't help with this.

As I pack things I take them to the front door. Later tonight I will bring the car to the steps for loading. I have way too many grocery bags, but I am taking things to prepare meals for them. As of now I will be staying about two weeks. Summer wants me to stay longer this visit.

Have a great day!

Nice day out of town for the family. Got a good 5 miles of walking in. My garmin doesn't like to track when you go indoors, so I couldn't track accurately, but I think 5 is safe when I look at what it did track.

I'm bushed, so better get to bed. My FIL used to say, "Don't break the Lord's sabbath on the sabbath." In other words, get to bed early so you can get up and go to church.

Sunny, somethimes I don't say things right...consider the source. My cable bill went up 21., but now included phone and computer. It was 53. for just cable.

The winds are still blowung here. Stuck my head out for a breath of fresh air, felt good.

Love your little groundhog graphic, Sandie. Too cute.

Thank you for you love and support this past week.

Good job on your Cable Bill. Wish mine were $21.00. We pay $75 for phone and internet services. We live out in the country and we have to take what is available to us.

Ute, thanks for your kind words. I have to agree with Sandy about your vocation but you do need to take care of yourself. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Mariean, it is good to be back also.

Hugs to you all. Have a blessed day.

Sunny

Happy Ground Hog Day

Sunny, glad things are going better. It is good to see your smiling face. We miss all our sweet ladies when they have to be away.

Mariean, starting next month my Cable bill will be $21. more, but with that I also get computer service and my home phone. Now my phone has no long distance, just a plain phone. I will now have free long distance as well as Caller ID. I will also have call waiting, but I will not use it as I don't like it. I was about to go with AT&T and I felt like the Lord was directing me to say no and to call Charter again.

Ute, it takes more than one thing to make you an asset in your vocation. They need you, someone with a caring and loving heart to tend to the dogs. It seems that is something they all ready knows and that is good!

I asked Summer if she could find me two pint Mason jars. She asked why. I told her I am making something for someone special. She said who? me?" She knows! In one jar I want to put (separated by their colors), Reese's pieces, in layers. On the lid write "I Love you to Pieces!" In the other jar Hershey kisses and Hershey Hugs and write on top "Hugs and Kisses". Then decorate the lid with a red ribbon. I will put them in a Valentine bag along with some snacks she can enjoy on her drive to see Jake the 14th. She is leaving work after lunch. This will be the first time she has gone there alone. I told her to be have herself and her reply was. "Grandma, you don't have to worry about that." I told her I really wasn't, but I still have to say it. She is so sweet and special.

I was going to the Y this morning, but I can hardly walk.I have discovered that a heel spur is harder to get rid of than it's relative, plantar fasciitis, which I've had twice.
All I know to do is rest it as much as I can, but I have loads to do before Monday morning. . I thought it was better until yesterday. I have been hobbling on my foot since then. I had to go to a few stores. Monday I will stop at a FoodLion store that isn't closing. It is about twelve miles down the highway. They have three specials I want to get. I have to pass by the store, so may as well stop.

Sorry to ramble so much. Part of it may be that I am fairly comfortable sitting here at my desk. Making the thought of getting up and getting things done is not too appealing to me. I know the Lord will see me through things. Have a great weekend.

Sunny, I am happy to hear that your sister is well taken care of. And yes, our Lord is great!!! Glad you are safely home too.

Francine... that's a lot of snow. Hope you had an okay ride to and fro. We have snow and rain. The weather can't really decide, lol.

Mariean... I love old coffee houses. There is always something great to eat, and the cakes and pastries and different types of coffee. Oh, I do miss that!!! I wish you a lovely time with your family!

Sandie, you seem to be a wonderfully frugal shopper!!! I never could figure out the coupon thing. And if I clipped them, I ended up forgetting to use them, so I've given up on it :)

I had myself a minor melt down at work today. We had the owners 7 Shepherds in addition to the regular boarders. And none of his dogs have any leash manners, and they believe they own the place, hence act like a band of hooligans when they are being walked through the kennels. My knees just cannot take the abuse well, the violent pulling and lunging. So when I brought the last one in, I just cried, because I know that my days are numbered in the kennels. I can't even clean the bottom cages anymore, because I can't kneel down anymore. And I feel so bad, because despite the fact that I am the Training and Protocol Lead (I am responsible for training the staff and keeping the protocols and handbooks updated), I can't do some of the hard work anymore. I already had to split my time between reception (7-11 am, when the harshest time in the kennels is happening due to the speed of cleaning and walking the dogs). I just love the job and the dogs so much, it is really heartbreaking for me to think that I am not an asset to the operation anymore due to my knee issues. So my immediate boss Rita said that my work is so valuable to the Kennels, because I lead them and train them and find what is not done properly and make it right, and if she has to, she will write me a different job description. Hahha, that's nice to hear.

Good Morning, Team. We are home from St. Louis. Sis is doing amazingly well and is expecting to be moved out of ICU this weekend to the step down unit. Physical Therapy came yesterday before we left and evaluated her. God is so good as it sure looks like she will make a full recovery. According to the neurosurgeon, the brain bleed was small and he says she will probably only have minimal deficits. PTL! He is so good and His mercies endures forever.

It is good to be home for a while. We are home for the weekend. DH has to teach Sunday School this Sunday. We will go back to St. Louis some time this next week.

No snow here but we made a very cold entrance into February.

Take Care and know I love you all and appreciate your kindness and your prayers for Sis during this time.

Hugs, Sunny

Good morning ladies. I hope the first day of February brings wonderful things for all. We have another major snow storm today. I am glad that it did not take me too much longer to get to work today. My way in appeared to be only 10 miles south of where the blunt of the storm was. Many schools just north of where I work are closed due to 4-8 inches of snow on the ground. Have a great day!!

Sandie - Did I understand correctly that in the end you will pay less - or is it $21 more? Of course you will get a little more for your money.

I have a load of laundry in, bread in the oven, the grading done, but I have errands to do. Tomorrow we are taking a day trip by train to Leipzig. Got to do a few fun things while my DD is still here. We will go to the oldest coffee house in Germany. I don't know what else we will do. There are many things to see, but we just want to bum around and spend time with the family.

emoticon February!

I will be leaving shortly for the stores. I am thankful that , most things on my list are on sale and I have coupons. I love when I have two coupons for the same item and the item is BOGO. Plus because of the buys I got yesterday I don't have much to get today.

I am running a .little late. I like going places earlier in the morning. Have a great first day of February.
