Thanks Uti, I've had bad kneew for years. I think it was the standing in line outdoors plus I did more walking than I had done in ages. This old lady ain't what she use to be. My knees are much better this evening. I am turning in shortly. Sleep well. .

Hello ladies!!!
Sandie, your poor knees! What made them hurt? Was it the standing in line of the going back to the store 3 times? I found a video at the book store, which only has exercises for painful knees. It eases pain and builds up muscles around the knees so they have more support. It also includes different mild stretches that are helpful to knee challenged folk like myself. :) Thank you for keeping Julia in your prayers. I appreciate that.

Mariean.... being the only Christian in my household is really not tough at all. My family is really great. They just want me to be happy, and if that means I listen to Christian music, and read a lot of Bible and let them know what is going on in there, they'll let me do that. So as my hubby said the other day "Watch, I will become a Christian by osmosis". Yep, that's how I believe it's gonna go. Julia is already convinced that "a" God is at work in her life. I prayed before she made any big decisions, like applying to college, going to Spain for a year, etc. and since my prayer has always been "God please prevent her from getting into that college if it is the wrong place for her, but if that's where you want her, please make it possible for her to go" So she is convinced that my prayers have directed her path. Good enough for now :)

Mariean, I will keep your friend in prayer as well. And I agree that the "Hauptsache" is go follow God and everything else is secondary. We can't plan anyway, might as well give it all over to the Lord with a joyful heart, right?

Hugs to all and good night!

Today we say good bye to January, a month that usually seems rather long, but not this year.

I decided to keep Charter. I am adding my home phone and computer to charter. They will switch me over the end of February. Their 12 or 24 months deals have ended. My computer will be faster, so they say, and my home phone will have caller ID and free long distance. So I think I made the right choice. It will be 21. more a month and I have computer and phone included. I was paying 35. for computer and phone with AT&T. WIth their phone no caller ID or long distance. This will save on cell phone minutes as all my family except for Jon has a different carrier than me.

We had so much wind and rain yesterday. Including a tornado warning for an hour. I ended up going to FoodLion three times, but it was worthwhile. Everything in the store was half price. The first time it was so crowded I couldn't see everything. I stood outdoors waiting for the doors to open for 45 minutes. Thee were about 12 ahead of me in the line and hundreds behind me. It was a good day, but wore me out. Between standing waiting for them to open, walking throughout the store and then standing in line, my knees have been paying for it.

Tomorrow I will need to get just a few things to take with me. Because of going to FoodLion's close out sale I was able to scratch things off my regular grocery list. Then the rest of the weekend will be spend getting things together.

Uti, Julia is in my prayers.

Enjoy your day!

Sandie - I have no idea what normal cable bills run. Here in Germany we have a television tax - which is about $250 per year, just if you own a TV! Then you have to pay cable on top of that. Phone prices (for cell phones) are more expensive there too.

Ute - What a great outlook. Difficult situation being the only one who knows the Lord, but God is amazing. My best friend in PA accepted Christ, and it was a good 5 years before her DH and DD did, but they did. I Peter 3 is a great encouragement that way. Their first need is Christ, secondary is health. Not quite like one of the favorite German sayings, "Hauptsache, Gesund."

Today I will be finishing up the January reports. I almost got done yesterday. It is sunny, and windy. I washed a load of clothes and I think I will attempt to hang it on the line. It is suppose to rain this afternoon though.
I have a friend coming over at 3. Pray for her. She needs Christ and is at a tough spot in life. I have explained the gospel many times to her.

Okay, better get at my work.

In CHRIST I can!

Sandie, it might just be worth it if you use your TV a lot. It is a big increase though. Did you have a deal with the cable company for a certain number of months? We had that and I think it is coming to an end in a few months, then our bill will go up as well. I love having the features, but I really don't like to spend extra money if I don't have to. You are doing the right thing, to look at all the pro's and con's before deciding.
So what did you end up getting at the store? Is FoodLion a grocery store?

Mariean, hope you have a decent time grading papers. That sounds mildly annoying :)

Okay, Julia had the Ultrasound today and they did find two masses, one 2 cm and one 2.8 cm. in her breast. They didn't bother with a Mammogram. They will send the report to a different Dr. that will do a biopsy. She will have to come upstate again as soon as they contact her to get that done. I hope she can do that next week on a day she doesn't have to be in college. She will just have to miss another day at her internship, but oh well. Best to get that looked at and see what it really is.
The prayers are appreciated. I have been praying for my family, not for healing in the sense that everyone will be disease free, but for God to find a way into their heart. I always pray, no matter what He finds necessary to do, my prayer is just that they will open their hearts to Him and become followers of Christ. I am the only Christian amongst us, lol. But the Lord has done amazing things already in our lives, and we actually have great discussions about God and the Bible. Even my hubby, who gets mad at God's (what he calls) indifference towards struggle, violence and the injustice of this world has had great talks with me. And then he always says, "see, you don't have to go to church, you can just talk shop with me". :)

Okay, to all a good night!

Hi Ladies,

My cable bill is going up twenty one dollars next month. That is just for basic and extended. I have that so I can watch sports, FoodNetwork, Hallmark and a few other decent stations. . Even if I am not watching TV it is most always turned on for the sound. I usually leave the house once a week for shopping. So my TV gets unitized lots. He said I could get a good deal with movies and videoing. I told him I watch very few movies and I care nothing about taping things. I have a few weeks to decide. It will make my bill 73.77. Is it worth it? probably, but I don't know if I can afford it or not.

It seems to me the older I get the more complicated and difficult companies try to make it for you. Oh for the simpler days of the forties and fifties. True, no computer, but I do think I would manage just fine.

For something more pleasant. I borrowed some money from my Christmas money (what some of the kids gave me) I am saving it for something I want. FoodLion is going out of business and everything in the store is 50% off. I was there at 0715 and stood out doors for 45 minutes until they opened. There was about 12 ahead of me and hundreds behind me in line waiting for the doors to open. They had more things than I anticipated. I went home to get more money and went back a second time. I will pay back that money on Friday. I can mark a few things I wanted to take to Union off my list for Friday.

They say it will reach 70 today. The wind is from 25-35 mph. Feels great. I have one more load of groceries to bring in from the car. I will wait and get them when I get the mail. I better put these things away. I was so tired I told self I need a break. Time to get back to work now.

Ute - I will pray for your DD. That can be scary. Let us know what the doctors say. What are your DDs studying?

Sandie - you are probably busy packing and making out menus. I hope you have a wonderful time away.

I slept fairly well last night. I thought I might be getting sick. I had a lot of aches. I took some ibiprofin right before bed and took my heating pad with me. I still woke up several times, but was able to fall right back asleep.
That warm weather from the States must be here. It is 60 out! Most of the snow is melted. I took that as my cue to get out and run. I just got back from a 3 miler.

Did some grading this morning, and will need to work on the end of the month reports. Trying to stay on top of those this year.

Sandie, you made me laugh. I love the pet isle story. Too funny, and a great idea. Especially with the HUGE stores we have here. I also used to do 5 mile walks a few times a week, but those times are gone for now. My knees just don't play that any more. I think taking the weight off will be a great start to do my beloved walking again. Maybe I can start training for a 5 K? I would like that.

Mariean, aren't you close to Dresden? It's my favorite city in the entire world :)

Tonight we have to pick up my daughter Julia (actually at midnight). She is coming up from NYC after classes because she has a Doctor's appointment tomorrow at 11. She has to actually skip her internship for the day. During Winter break she got all the necessary Dr's appointments out of the way, and when she got her GYN checkup, they found a lump in her breast. So they want to do an Ultrasound and a Mammogram tomorrow. She is only 20 years old, but both her great grandmother and grandmother (Craig's family) had breast cancer. Great Grandma got operated on and is cancer free. Craig's mother died of breast cancer when he was only 18. So needless to say.... it'll be interesting to see what happens. I took a half day of vacation for tomorrow a while ago for a seminar I was going to attend (of course I canceled that) I am very happy that God planned this so well :) So I can take her to the appointment and then we will all go out and have a nice lunch before she gets back on the bus to go back to NYC. Her twin sister Sarah has no classes on Wednesdays, so we can all be together.

Hello! Today is my baby girl's 18th birthday. Hard to believe! I'm really not ready for her to be 18 - but I guess I don't have a choice. I made her a lemon roll cake, what she has requested year after year. We will have coffee time here in a bit.

I did get that walk in - a little over 5 miles. I only walked part way, then DH picked me up. It is about 40 out today - muddy now.

Ute - I am in the East, maybe that is the difference, but many don't take their trees down until later in January. In fact, last night when we were downtown, I saw that the city was just now working on taking down the decorations. My apartment is small, and the tree just takes up a lot of space. So it came down shortly after the 6th.

Sandie - That is great that you use the time to walk all the isles at the store. Every little bit helps. Hope your packing goes well. I am still doing laundry. With 4 of us, I try to do a bit each day in the week. I'm glad you are able to get away too.

Well, I think I will lay down here on the couch and take a little nap before DH comes home for coffee time.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi Ladies,

Wow Mariean, a five mile walk. That is great. I doubt I could walk five blocks. I use to do more, but the neuropathy and foot and leg pain keeps increasing. I try to walk all the aisles at the stores, the buggy is a big help. One day Jon saw my car at the store. He came inside and phoned me to ask what aisle I was on. I told him the pet aisle. He asked when did I get a pet. I told him I walk all the aisles, even the ones where I don't ever purchase anything.

My laundry is complete. I have begun packing things. If I don't start early I will forget things.

Summer is leaving work early the 14th to go visit her boyfriend in NC. I am thankful he got a job. After he is there 90 days he can put in for a transfer. He wants to move to Union to be closer to Summer. I talked with her yesterday about some of the things I plan on fixing for meals while I am there.

January will soon be in our past. It is usually a month that seems rather long, but not this year.
Winter will be over before we know it. The only thing I don't like about winter is the power bill is higher. I keep it on 67. When I leave Monday I will set it on 50 during the time I am away. No reason to pay for heat when I am not here. Except when I am away for days I leave the setting alone.

Time to get something done.

And yes, we finally broke down this year after splitting Christmas between the German presents (usually sent by my parents) on the 24th at night, and getting up on the 25th in the morning and doing the stocking and American presents. This year, we all decided we just don't feel Christmassy in the morning. Just don't and would really like to just open them on the 24th in candle light, with Christmas music playing and be reminded of the wonderful warm cozy family Christmasses at my parents house. So that's what we did. And I think that will stick. :)

Mariean, oh my, if you just knew how unorganized I am. With any luck we put the tree up by December 24. Last year we had the tree up, but we never even decorated it. My daughter Julia, was in Spain for a year, so she would have been the one to enjoy decorating. Her twin sister Sarah didn't care all that much. My parents tradition was always to keep the tree up until the 6th of January (until the 3 Wise Men have found baby Jesus) and then quickly take it down before my Dad's birthday January 10th. I am not sure I know anyone in Germany who keeps their tree until the end of January. That was always frowned upon when I still lived in Germany. I just couldn't get my butt in gear to take down all the decorations. This year it all just looked sooooo cozy in my little couch corner with the window all lit up with the little lights. I had a hard time letting Christmas go this year. My poor hubby already told me we REALLY need to take it down. Oh well. I am very sorry to hear about your friends father. It's too bad when we live too far away to be physically present, but we can still be a comfort to each other. But I do know how you feel. I hope the nice walk will help you clear your head (and you get to log a lot of exercise minutes, lol)

Sandie, I don't think I ever met many people who love Monday as much as you do. I appreciate going to work and putting my best efforts in, but I have to admit, Monday until Thursday are really just stepping stones for me until Friday comes, the day I like best during the work week. Glad you got a lot of stuff done. Isn't it great to feel productive?

Hugs to all and have a lovely evening!

Sandie - I am always thinking about you on Mondays.

I didn't sleep well last night. Kept waking up. I woke up with a headache as well. Doing okay now though.
I have bread I need to put in the oven soon. I did two loads of laundry and got some paperwork done.
I am planning to head downtown - and I want to walk there. It is 5 miles. My DH will come later with the car and meet me. It is sunny out and I could use the fresh air and sun.

Have a great day, ladies.

Happy Monday! I got my first load of clothes in the washer early. This week I won't be leaving the house until Friday. Then I will spend the weekend making sure I have everything ready to leave on Monday. First thing Monday morning I will get my Rx's filled for February. I am usually at the drive thru at 0800.

Monday has always been my to go day so to speak. It seems I usually get more accomplished that day. Why? I have no idea. I just know even when I worked I always liked Monday's best.

For some reason I can't get that little chorus..."He's Able" out of my mind. Perhaps because I know very well that He indeed is able and the Lord brought the chorus to me.

Time to get started for the day. Have a great Monday!

Ute - Now taking down the Christmas tree the end of January - I see the German in you definitely. emoticon I'm guessing the tree went up on Dec. 24th too, right? And I do hope you stuck with opening packages on the 24th as well. I am actually Norwegian so I grew up with the 24th being the time we celebrate. So much better singing Silent Night, when it is still night.

Sandie - Oh, those early mornings! I actually got so much done this past week - and I told me DH that I should get up one day a week at 3:30 regularly.

I also had a lazy day yesterday. Today church, dinner, and then a nice long nap. It was so nice.
This afternoon my good friend that lives here in Landstuhl, called to tell me her dad passed away this morning. We cried and prayed on the phone. These are the things that make living far away from family difficult. She was there for me when my brother died, and I was not able to go to the funeral. Hard. But God does give grace.

In CHRIST I can!

I woke just before four this morning, Not surprising since I turned in too early last night.

Yesterday was a lovely day. I wanted to take off and go some place, but no gas. I will get some Friday. We are going to have warmer weather this week, including up to the high sixties Wednesday. Our weather is always so fickle.

I will have to get my Wednesday grocery sales on Friday this week. Since the third is on Sunday we will get our checks Friday. I won't get much, just things I can use when I go visit the girls. Sara loves bread pudding. I haven't made it in years and never could make it as good as my Grandma's. But, I am going to tackle one while I am away. I am trying to include their favorites as I plan menus for while I am there.

I enjoyed watching Duke win yesterday. And totally thrilled that UNC lost to NCS. NCAA basketball is my favorite sport to watch.

Make it a nice day.

Hello all you lovely critters! I am spending Saturday with my hubby. We have been lazy and snuggly and are not making dinner. A big baking tray of potatoes, cauliflower, kale and mushrooms. Yum. I can't wait to eat. I am ravenous.
So while waiting, I will finally, finally take down the Christmas tree. And then I will put the treadmill back where it belongs to I can do some indoor walking.

Ute - Well, lets just say that my mom and our black toy poodle we quite alike. emoticon
Hmmm, and my DS did get a black one! I haven't met him yet. Will be there in March.

Sandie - I really didn't want to send you any sleet, but snow. I guess I will have to pray even more specifically!

No news from Sunny. She doesn't post here often. I am guessing this is her twin sister. I am only guessing she knows the Lord, but not postitive about that. In any case, this is no doubt a difficult time for the family.

I went out walking today for 40 minutes. The sun is shining - even though it is 20 out. Now I am snuggled up in my bed keeping warm. I love sitting in my bed with my feather blanket.

Hi Ladies,

At two yesterday it was 26 and began a light rain turning into sleet. It only lasted two hours. Jon told me Greenville had so much sleet that it looked like two inches of snow on the ground. It is all gone now, going to be 58 today.

You are right Uti, snow does make my heart sing. I have loved it all my life.

Thoughts and prayers for Sunny's sister.

Enjoy your weekend.

I am not sure I have met Sunny, but I will definitely keep her and her family in prayer!

Mariean, was your Mom "snippy" too, LOL? Yes, I find poodles very interesting that way. A lot of the black ones are more aggressive than the other colors as well, they tend to be more dog and people aggressive. I really don't know why, but that's what we see at work. Of course my hubby doesn't believe me, but he doesn't work with hundreds of dogs each year either, lol. So I will take my opinion over his :)

And as for snow, I will send you the dusting we got tonight, Sandie. It's not much, but I see that even a little makes your heart sing.

Night all!

I just got this message from Sunny

Hi Everyone. I am in St. Louis with my sis who had a brain aneurysm on Wednesday. She had emergency surgery yesterday and is in ICU. Don't know when I will be home. I am on the computer at the Hotel.

Please keep Shar (sis) in your prayers.

Sunny

Good Morning,

Yesterday was a lovely day, windy but nice. It seems like it took a long time for Friday to arrive this week. I always look forward to Monday.

Summer called to tell me she went to the dentist. She turned 25 this past October and has never had a cavity. I think if she ever had even a tiny one she would be upset.

I am working on menu's for when I go to Union. We usually have pizza one time and once we get chicken strips at a hometown place. Evenings are the meals I will plan.

They are calling for a little sleet from six this morning until eleven tonight. Going to be sunny and 53 tomorrow. All the snow everyone is sending to me ought to make me very happy. I have always loved snow.

Francine - Don't they have those premeasured soap things for the washer? I think we got some of those for my DS when he was at college. Maybe that would solve using too much.

Ute - how interesting! Never knew that about poodles. May that is why our toy poodle was so snippy! (Mom's dog) emoticon Now I will have to watch how my DS's poodle is...very interesting indeed!

I got my kettlebell workout done, food logged. Have a couple friends coming for haircuts this afternoon.

Jenny, you are doing a great job. Be encouraged, and hang in there. Just keep your positive attitude. It does make all the difference. And prayer, but you already knew that :)

Sandie, really, you are looking for snow? I am sending some your way. Let me cut it out of my driveway first, lol.

Mariean, my little white dog is a Cockerpoo-Lhasa Apso mix. The daddy was a Cockerpoo that jumped the fence and ran away with the next door neighbors Lhasa Apso breeding female. Oops. She looks much like a white poodle, but she is not. That's why I lovingly call her the "oodle" because she is only almost purebred, lol. Her name is Bunny, which might or might not be any better than Oodle. But Oodles of all kinds are my favorite breed of all times. Mix them in to anything, and I will be in love, pure bred Poodles? Sure... I love them all. The only problem I found is that they identify themselves so much with their owners that they tend to not develop their own personality, but mimick their owners. But that's okay. If you want to know what a person is REALLY thinking, just look at their Oodle and you will know.

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I have been so busy at work these last few days that I haven't even had time for a proper lunch. We have both the office manager and the president out of town so I have to do their jobs as well as my own. Finally a break in the day today.
Ute: I wish I could memorize but my memory is not very good. I always had trouble in school when it was time to memorize things. I can usually get the idea of what is being said but the exact words are not always there.
Sandie: I wish I could send you our snow. On Tuesday it took me 3 hours to get to work. It normally takes only 45 min to an hour. We were driving 25-35 MPH on the Ohio Turnpike. I got off early because I knew I would have trouble with the one hill. I then turned the wrong direction and ended up going further away from work.
Jenny: Keep up the good work. I will continue to pray for you. I hope the gym is able to give you some advice.
Mariean: Oh my! I understand what you are going through. My DH uses too much soap and softener. Our clothes are clean and very soft. Our towels though do not absorb water like they used to. I tried to tell him that I will do the laundry but he gets home 2.5 hours before I do and he is off 1 day during the wek that I can't get to it most of the time. He doesn't like to fold so everything is wrinkled and I have a ton of ironing to do on Saturdays as well as the rest of the cleaning I don't get to during the week.
Have a great day everyone!

Sandie - maybe the Lord will send you more than just a few flakes. I remember living in PA and everyone went crazy over the snow. No bread, milk or eggs to be found and sometimes they cancelled school ahead of time. And then no snow would come after all! Crazy!

I feel like I have had a relatively productive week, but today spent almost all day so far on the computer doing various jobs - church calendar, finding out when my DD starts college so we know when to fly in the fall (if we do) updating the church birthday and prayer lists.

My DH put in some laundry this morning...boy does he need help. I told him what to do - it has a short cycle and regular, which I never use because it takes over 2 hours to wash! He didn't find the right button. I then went down with him, and he had somehow locked the washer settings. Now I need to find the book on how to unlock it because I can't do any more laundry until I figure out what he did! And, good thing we went down together, because then he remembered he forgot to add soap and softner! Oh, dear....
I guess I will have to make a list of how to do laundry when I am gone in March. Before, my DD was always here to cook and clean and do laundry for him. Could be an interesting 2 weeks for him.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi Ladies,

Jenny, keep up the good work!

I enjoyed myself yesterday. The fresh cool air felt so good. When I pulled into my drive way I remembered that I didn't go to Wilson's. Maybe next Wednesday. I just forgot. am getting a thin one that matches my hair. I want it because there was a hair in one of the cookies I made last time.

They say we may get some sleet Friday, perhaps a few snow flurries, but they won't stick much less last. When there is even a whisper of snow or ice people around here go nuts. The grocery stores are packed. I go on Wednesday regardless of the weather.

This week is going rather slow for a change. Usually the week days seem to go too fast.

There is a large plastic box in the kitchen I am adding things to for Union. As I come across something I want to take in the box it goes.

Ute - I have to always smile when I see your Poodle's face. Her name isn't Oodle, is it. I thought I remembered something else on your page. My mom raised toy poodles, so we grew up with them. We also had a standard poodle that was born with 3 legs when I was really small. I have pictures of me with her on my tricycle. Her name was Tripalina - I guess because of the 3 legs. My oldest DS just got a standard poodle less than a month ago. A good dog for them as they have 3 kids, with the oldest only 3 1/2. No hair (like their last dog - a pug) and much easier to train. His name is Posidon. They like to use greek names.
That is really neat that you recite a Psalm before bed. Have you memorized a lot of scripture? I met a lady here on spark whose goal is to memorize 1/10 of the Bible. Amazing how much she already has committed to memory. I try to memorize as well, but in German it takes me a lot longer than in English. I memorized 1 John 1 & 2 and started on 3 - but that was a couple years ago. Last year I tried to memorize Prov. 4, but only made it 2/3 the way through. I need to get back to doing that regular.

Sandie - I'm still praying God sends you some snow. It is at least cold enough. I think it was about 27 today here too.

Jenny - Nice that you like to exercise, but sorry you can't do what you would like. Hopefully the gym will have some suggestions for you. You have a great attitude in wanting to do what you can like drinking the water.

Today I did my favorite job, ironing. NOT I did get the ironing done, with the exception of a few things, which I will finish tomorrow. I babysat, did laundry, which I didn't fold - ran out of time. It is just towels so I will fold them in the morning. My "big" projects today were cleaning out one desk drawer, cleaning off the fridge - I always take off all the pictures that cover the front, clean the fridge itself, and then put up the new pictures I get at Christmas. That is not a German thing, but the Germans love standing at my fridge and looking at all the pictures.

Okay, time for me to get to bed. Got home from Bible study later than normal.

HI All!

Hope you are having a good day. I may try to go to the gym and see if they can give me advice. Hubby says they may help. Dr. has said I never can do wight training again and etc. I have not been doing must. Not exercising must gets old and I love to exercise. I have been gaining weight. I am so blessed. So many can not walk. I have sit in the chair and well that is no fun. I have been Learning to handle my discomfort better. I have took a honest look at my problems and well I see with God's help a lot of room were I can make improvements. From drinking my water to small steps to big changes. Thank you for your prayers. May the Lord wrap us in His care and hold us close as He directs our steps. emoticon emoticon

Hi Ladies,

I will be going to a few stores this morning. I forgot to spray food spray on my car door last night. It always sticks and when it freezes it doesn't open until later in the morning. I like going to the stores early. I read where something like Pam will make it possible for the door to open. I was going to try it. I don't know how cold it was, but presently it is just 27. That sounds good to me as long as my car door opens.

It will feel good getting out of the house this morning. I will go to a couple stores then get on home. I may go ahead and go to Wilson's, a five and dime store. That store has been there for many years. I remember going there in the early 60's. I don't know how long before then they have been around. They have all kinds of things most stores don't offer. I use to get all Summer's hair bow ribbons there because they have such a great variety. I want to go and get a hair net.

I am enjoying this colder weather. My old body doesn't care for it, but I do.

OH, girls.... I went to bed around 9 pm yesterday, and the last thing I remember is smiling like a fool because I was soooooo cozy with my Oodle on my feet and my lab by my side, and reciting my favorite Psalm 91 (I don't think I make it to the end most days, I just fall asleep halfway through.... right where I tread upon the lion and the cobra, lol).

So I will go to bed again, and hope for the same outcome. I will include you girls in my "psalming" maybe this will give you better sleep.

Hugs!

Ute - You are right, after 4th is ideal to move here. I would agree that keeping everyone together prevents a lot of problems.

Sandie - my night was somewhat like yours. I went to bed by 11 but work up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. At 4 I got up, graded papers, updated planners, etc. I did get a lot done.

Jenny - Thanks for your comment. It is amazing what God can do.

Well, time for me to go catch up on that missed sleep!

Good Morning,

It is around four AM and I am still awake. I went to bed at eleven, but couldn't sleep. Finally about three I decided I may as well get up and do something.

Yesterday I didn't accomplish as much as I thought I would, but I did get a few smaller things done. Some things I have to save for when the girls come to help. They said they will both come the first nice spring day before it gets too hot. That way we can do the building too. Spring is actually just around the corner, a somewhat long corner.

I am going to check the grocery ads on line and go ahead and make my list based on my coupons. I skimmed them last night, but will look at them better this time. From what I saw I will only go to two stores tomorrow. Sometimes all four have good deals. When they do I start at one end of the highway and make my way to each store.. To get to my street there are two entrances off the highway, so that works well as one is on one end and the other a few miles down.

Enjoy your day!

Wow, Mariean, that is an amazing story! So much is happening in your life!! Well, I am glad that we got to send out kids to a school in the US. That's why I decided after 4th grade would be the best time to leave and move to America. I didn't want the girls to undergo that terrible being classified as dumb or smart according to which school they are allowed to go into. I like the fact that in the US, everyone goes to the same school and if you are better at something, you can take the higher level classes, but still you are in with all the other kids. You are not segregated out into a whole different school. That always bothered me.

I know that home schooling is frowned upon in Germany, almost impossible. I don't know anyone who did it that way. I know a few newspaper stories from years ago, where parents were ordered to send their kids to school outside of the home and tried to fight that by hiring a lawyer. Don't know what became of that though.

Well, to all a good night. I will get my beauty sleep now :)

Ute - long story.
DH was going to seminary to be a pastor. (In PA) and when the wall fell some of his professors went into Romania. That took his eyes off the USA. We were initially going to go to Romania, then my oldest son, then 9 years old, got cancer. We knew we couldn't take him there. In the meantime, the seminary was also going into E. Germany. We met a man that was from our city - was in Hitler's youth, interesting story. Escaped from the east, moved to Chicago, came to know the Lord as his Saviour, then later came back to plant a church in Murnau. He always wanted to go back to his home town and when the wall fell, that made it possible, but he was already retirement age. He was looking for a younger couple to take over the work here. We came 2 years after he moved here.
Just my opinion, but I think it was probably a bigger blessing that your kids were there. Especially in High School. The morality of the schools here is horrible and getting worse. I did have my oldest do his Abi - but the next one only to 10th grade in a Gymnasium, then we homeschooled her, the next one we sent back to the States for 11th and 12th grades. We have been homeschooling part of the time here, but it is a battle. For the Germans that want to homeschool it is next to impossible.

Sandie - what is on your list today? You sound very reflective today. I have chicken tenders and garlic potatoes in the oven - thanks to you. Yummy supper my family is going to love.

I did one load of laundry, worked out, and cleaned a bunch in my room - getting rid of a bunch of books. Well, actually I just put them into bags to bring to people that I think could benefit from them.

Welcome Monday!

This is usually my day for getting things accomplished. I ought to get much more done today as there won't be anything worth watching on TV most of the day and evening. I want to stay busy and keep my mind on important things, things that really count for something and things that I really care about.

Enjoy your Monday!

Mariean, I met my husband in Germany where he was stationed at the time with the US Army. We married after 2 years and moved to NY for 2 years, where we had out twin girls. When they were 9 months old, we moved back to Germany where he learned how to be a nurse in a German hospital. My parents and sister were very happy to get to know the girls. But after a few years, I could see that my husband just got more and more sad and homesick, so I made the decision to move back to the States when the girls were 10 years old. And it is the best decision. We were able to buy a small house out in the country and the girls went to a small school where the biggest scandal to this day is that a few kids vandalized the school hallway as a graduation prank. So very safe and lovely surroundings. Hubby is much, much happier back home, and I love it here, so we all win. The girls believe that living in Germany would be better, but they just have the childhood memories that they glorify, lol. Luckily they have both passports and can at any given point move there and find a job and stay. I will support whatever they want. How did you get to move to Germany?

Sandie.... that is so nice that you already have a willing granddaughter for your "donations". In that case, I would definitely save everything and give her a chance to pick what she wants out of the pile. I actually brought home a nice big metal tub I found in the woods while taking a walk with hubby. We spray painted it green and planted flowers in it as well. Some garbage makes beautiful flower pots :)

Church today, then had a lady and her son over for lunch. Her DH is working - he works in a hospital.
Went for a walk out in the cold. Only got in 20 minutes, but it was enough in this weather.
Just relaxing now.

Good Morning,

I am enjoying this colder weather, especially when I am out doors. I don't care to be chilled indoors. That may not make sense, but I like being out in cold weather, always have.

My cups and saucer shelves are all cleaned. Before I start the kitchen cupboards I think I will do the rest of the living/dining room.

Ute, I am sure there are many who would want your throw aways. What I won't use I am putting in a box for my granddaughter. She has often asked me not to throw out anything until she sees it. She is one who keeps everything.
I am sure I will have plenty when she is ready.

Even though I got some things done yesterday, it seemed to be a very long day and evening. I am looking forward to Monday!

I'm checking in - on my way to bed.
Today I got a little over a mile walk in, and did a ladies meeting and we called on a lady that had visited the church some time ago. Otherwise, low key day.

Francine - nice that your DS has a heart to serve the Lord.

Sandie - Hope you are making progress on solving those computer problems. I too am going through things in my house. My DH said today that he needs to think about nailing his shoes to the floor so they don't disappear as I am in the "get rid of things" mode.

Ute - I love to get rid of things. When I put away some things before Christmas to put out the decorations, I liked the less cluttered look and decided to eliminate a lot of that. I like to get rid of things anyway - always have. Even if it is just an empty jar or what not. But I do have things that I ask my kids if they want first. And, I also have taken other people's "junk" that they threw out. So if it is old I just might grab it from someone's dump pile. I have gotten an old wooden ladder that I have ivy growing on in my garden, an old wash tub that I put flowers in in the spring-fall, an old Kinderwagen - that my DD wants to recover and use for her kids one day, and old play kinderwagen, that I cleaned up and use it for books as a decoration.

So, what brought you to the USA? We have been in Germany now for almost 15 years. Landed here in Feb. 1998.

Okay, time to get myself to bed. Have a blessed Lord's day tomorrow.

In CHRIST I can!
Mariean

Oh, my.... Sandie, when we moved to the States in 2002, I brought over so many boxes, and alas, some of them especially with kitchen utensils were never opened. I had so much stuff. And now I look around the house and see so much more stuff that just accumulated with no real place to go. We have a nice small house, and not a lot of storage space, I really just want to go through and throw everything out that I don't use. Unfortunately, my hubby always believes that someone (especially our daughters) will eventually want that old stuff. Yeah, I can see that happening :) So having said that, I think today will be a little cleanup day for me. Maybe I can put a few boxes together of stuff I want to give away. But then again, who would want my old stuff other than the dumpster?

Hi Ladies,

I have cups and saucers on a wooden shelf on the wall. When Joy was here I picked up a cup and it was so dirty and dusty. I use to run them through my dish washer and they would sparkle. Now, I am the dish washer. Yesterday I got the bottom shelf of them cleaned. The top two are higher than I remembered, but my plans are to get them done this morning.

I want to take one kitchen cupboard at a time and clean it out and see what I have. If I haven't used it since moving here (over 5 years now) it will go in a box and reside in the building. What prompted me in wanting to do this is I couldn't find a mini food processor I like to use for bread crumbs, corn flakes, nuts etc. I thought I knew just where it was, but never did find it. It will be interesting to see just what is in those cupboards. When I moved the girls put things from the boxes in the cupboards.

Make it a great weekend!

Good Morning,

I am still working on Henry, he should be all well by the end of the weekend. It has taken so much time getting him organized again. Jon stopped by on his way home from work to do one thing I didn't know how to do. I told him to go on home as he has a bad cold. He said he will come by another day to do some more things for me.

So much rain all week, but not a snow flurry to be seen. It's still early in the season, maybe we will still get some.

It seems we all have a problem or two. We have to trust God (easier said than done) to work everything out for His honor and glory. Through the years I have come to realize more and more the greatness of our Lord. It still amazes me how He can take so many circumstances that at the time seem so difficult, yet He will make something good out off them.

There is much on my agenda today, so I best get with it. I don't usually plan too much, but had to for today as there are things I have to get done.

Hello Francine, nice to meet you and thank you for the welcome :) I am sure your son will find what he wants to do in life. Hope his kidney issues are not keeping him back too much.

Good morning ladies! I hope all is well for you.

Sandie: That was a sweet story. I had tears in my eyes too. Those cookies sound delicious! I hope to bake this weekend.

Ute: That cake made my mouth water. Homemade sherbet too. Many tasty treats at your house! Also, welcome to the team! This is a great group of ladies.

Mariean: You are a busy family. My son at one time thought about becoming a missionary. Then he changed his mind and wanted to join the Army. I think he's leaning toward becoming a missionary again since he was turned down by the Army due to kidney issues. He is living with us right now. At 22 he is still deciding what to do.

Hope you all have a joyous day.

I am having computer problems. My main address won't allow me to know who is sending me mail until after I open it. Also I am not able to forward or reply to mail. This happened last year to another address. I know it is an AOL problem, but that doesn't help matters. I am redoing lots of things, deleting many things etc. I spent five hours trying to save addresses and put them in a safe place. By bedtime I was totally frustrated and tired. This morning I woke ready and able (with God's help) to finish fixing things. It will no doubt take several days, but I will get it done. Jon is coming by after work to move my favorites list to another address. I saved it, but don't know how to put it where It needs to be.

Trust all is well with you sweet ladies. Have a nice Thursday!

Good morning, lovely ladies! I hope this day finds you basking in the glory of the Lord :)

My favorite radio station is the Christian music station Klove. They had a bunch of their artists give a concert just outside of Newtown, CT where the tragedy happened. They also brought Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife, who lost their 5 year old daughter in a tragic accident at home. They spoke about healing and trusting the Lord to bring good out of even this horrible tragedy. No better people to spek than these two, who know what these parents and families in this community go through. We are already seeing the Lord working in this community with the parents deciding that bitterness and anger is not how the kids would have liked them to go on with their lives. I bet a lot of wonderful things and movements will come out of this little town.

Mariean, I love flaxseed, and usually keep a tin of it already ground up in the freezer to add to everything under the sun. The health effects are just wonderful, and I like the nutte flavor

Alright, I gotta get to work :)

Sandie - that brought tears to my eyes.

Ute - Sometimes my life is more "interesting" than I would like it to be. I do pray that the Lord uses me to change lives. I'm glad that is God's work and I only have to be faithful.
Do you like whole wheat? Something that I like to do is to add ground flax seed and bran to my yogurt (or quark). I like the texture, but not everyone does.

My day is passing quicker than I would like, so I better get some things done.

Mariean, that sounds like a wonderfully interesting life. I bet you get really busy, and I bet you are changing lives. I am slowly adding more whole wheat and fiber into everything I eat. I had a high cholesterol reading at my annual checkup in January, so I am making better food choices and exercising more. So much I can do. I really don't want heart issues.

Sandy, your cookies sound delicious! My daughter Sarah made us Red Velvet and Yellow marble cake tonight, because her twin sister is coming home from NYC tonight. And she made us grapefruit/strawberry sherbert. It was really good, but of course I didn't need all the extra calories :) I logged it into my food log like a good girl, though. Okay, gotta go and pick up Julia from the bus. It's in the middle of Albany, in the bad part of town, so I will keep my car locked while I wait. Oy.

I got back from the store around nine thirty. I always turn on my TV, mainly during the day for the noise. If I am not watching anything, I keep it on FoxNews. I heard the sweetest. . The Mom of one of the kids that was killed in the school shooting shared this....her son had gone to bed,. Shortly after, he came back down stairs with his PJ top off. She asked why he was out of bed and he told her he wanted to give her another hug. She then asked why his top was off. He told her that he wanted to feel more of their hug. I thought that was sweet enough to share with you folks. It touched my heart.

Ute - We are missionaries - My husband pastors a German speaking church. We do more and more counselling all the time. This week we had 2 appointments and have another one tomorrow. I personally lead 2 ladies Bible studies a month, play the piano on Wednesday evening Bible studies and I translate for the deaf in our church on Sundays (we have 3-4 deaf that attend). My DH also leads the Wednesday Bible study, and he leads a deaf Bible study once a month, and of course preaches. That is kind of an overview of what we do day to day, but obviously there is a lot more. Of course I still have a house to keep, etc, like everyone.
How long have you been in the States?
The WW - is whole wheat. I pretty much only use whole grains. I like spelt a lot too.

Sandie - you sure go all out for your kids! You must be a huge blessing to them. Glad it is getting cooler for you. It is still right around freezing here. I saw a few flakes when I went out to do laudry. Last night we went grocery shopping - again, I got cauliflower for .01, radishes for .01, head lettuce .01 and found some whip cream - like cool whip, but real whip cream marked down to .50. Then the gal missed the reduced sticker and I went to the courtesy couter and she refunded the difference and gave me a bar of chocolate. I am not tempted, it is milk chocolate with hazelnuts. I really only like dark chocolate - I think because we only had semi-sweet chocolate chips as the only sourse of chocolate when I was growing up - and shame on me, I used to grab handfuls. My mom had to find creative places to hide them. emoticon

Time to go log my food so I don't get behind.

In CHRIST I can!

Good Morning,

Early yesterday morning I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Then I wanted to use some peanut butter chips, but I didn't have anything to use for chocolate. So I made chocolate cookies using a chocolate cake mix. They turned out great. The only mishap was I reached for the partial bag of mini chocolate chips instead of the PB ones. I will have to do the PB ones next time.

Joy helped me get some things accomplished. For supper we had sliced turkey breast, mac and cheese and green peas. I fixed chicken tenders in the oven for their lunch at work today along with seasoned rice, more peas, corn and left over mac and cheese. I had her take all the cookies with her.

Today I will run a couple errands. This will be the first I have gone any place since last Wednesday. It will be good to get away for an hour or so. I am planning on going to just one grocery store, BiLo. My favorite store is Publix, but they didn't have any good specials this week that I need. I over slept, which is OK, but it was nearly seven when I woke.

My heat is still set on 67. It came on once last night as it is finally getting cooler here.

Thank you for the welcome! Time does fly when you are having fun! You were saying on your page you serve the Lord in Germany. I would love to hear what a typical day is like for you there :) It took me to move to the States and get a job at a Vet Clinic to find the Lord for real.

What kind of "WW" are you guys making bread with? Is that Weight Watchers?

Well, to all a good night. I am nice and tired today, and tomorrow is already Wednesday. I still need to get my stretches in.

Ute - so nice to see you here! I am living in your homeland. We have been here almost 15 years. Hard to believe! Looking forward to having you on the team.

Sandie - I never notice the WW anymore. I make all my bread with WW and pizza crust, etc. My kids think it is treat to have white anything. But they never complain. I broke them in little by little.

Hi Jenny!

Sun set - sounds like you had a busy day.

I'm about ready to turn in the for the night. Just need to track my food first.

Hello all. Been a busy few days here. I finally took all my Christmas decorations down on Saturday. Went to clean out a storage I have. Not done yet and still a ton to do. I have too much stuff from before my wedding that I have no place for it. I have been trying to organize what I need and what I don't to have a yard sale soon. I've been working on this for quite some time now. Sunday we had our District Impact Team come and perform for us. They are teens who are from around the state and they perform music, plays, skits, etc all around. They come to our church about every 3-4 years. They are a great group of kids. Yesterday I had to return some Christmas gifts that didn't fit. I like to wait until the rush is over.

Mariean, I have tried ww pasta and I don't like it. Even if it may be healthier, I won't eat something I don't like....which as you know is way too many things. My turkey broth wasn't as rich because it was just a small breast. So I went ahead and made a small batch of noodles.

Joy will be here after work this afternoon. The visit will be short, but I will take what I can get. She is very busy with things these days and I appreciate her coming by for a visit. I have some chocolate chips left from Christmas. I think I will bake a small batch of cookies for her to take home and another one for her to give to Summer for her and Sara.

Time for me to get busy. I want to go ahead and get the cookies done.

Well, I am looking to introduce myself to this team for one :) I just joined because this team seems like such a cozy place to be. I am originally from Germany, and live with my husband in Upstate NY. Our twin girls are busy with college and so we do have a lot of quality time to ourselves.

Just got back a little bit ago from a 5.7 mile walk - in the snow. I had cleaned out my cassette tapes and was able to pass some (over 20) to a friend. So I dropped those off at her house, took the recycling down, went to church and cleared out the dishwasher from yesterday, then walked to the drug store and picked up a few things and then on home. My legs are still cold.
I did 2 loads of laundry today and cleaned out a few things in my room. I need to head back there and finish up some things. I have chili in the crockpot so I am good to go for dinner.

Sandie - I too love turkey. I really should make some homemade noodles again as well. They taste so much better. I normally use whole wheat noodles from the store, because of course it takes so little time to cook them up.

Okay, back to my bedroom to get a few more things accomplished.

Welcome Monday! Today I want to get some extra laundry done - a bed spread, down blanket etc. Things I don't do that often.

Yesterday I fixed a turkey breast. Target had hem last week for .99 a lb. I will have most of it for when Joy comes this week. It is one of her favorites. I will make something else for their lunches at work the next day. Summer isn't too fond of Turkey. I like it, but I also enjoy having those homemade noodles with the drippings (broth). I may make them, eat a little and freeze the rest. I would not want to not use that rich turkey stock.

I woke at five to the sound of a gentle rain, but it has since stopped. Time to get off here and get busy.

Sandie - good to see that your phone is working again! Can't believe your weather! It is cold and snowed the last couple days here. I prayed for some snow for you.

We had the wedding at church yesterday. All went really well. We have some talented ladies in the church that took care of decorations, etc. The whole thing went off fine.

Today, since there was so much cake left over, we also had a cake and coffee time after church. And, everyone brought home some cake too - and there is still some left!

I came home and got a little nap in on the couch. We didn't have a normal dinner, as nobody was hungry. I will make some potato salad, and we will have some brats. Nothing big today.

Hi Ladies,

Summer has asked me about every week when I am coming to Union. I was going the last week of this month, but changed my mind. Since the third is on a Sunday, our checks will be in the bank Friday night. So, I can go ahead and pay my bills on line before I leave. I will also be able to get my Rx's filled for the month. I am planning on going the 4th. By going then I won't be limited as to how long I stay. I am usually more than ready to come home after a week. Plus waiting a few weeks will give me time to find sale items and make some menus for there. Summer loves for me to cook for her.

Today it is to be 70. When I took Iout the trash last night, it felt like a Springtime evening. Where is winter?

Have a nice day!

It is good having my home phone working. No one has been able to call me for nearly two months. I could call out. The phone guy was nice. He left his number should it not stay fixed. He said to call him because he will know about the problem and if I call the company it will take much longer to get it repaired. He also said to call him if the wires he replaced (they are on top of ground now) are not buried in two weeks.
He was very nice.

Yesterday was a good day for me as far as getting things done. It isn't so much that I got lots accomplished, but it had been many days since I did much of anything. It is great to see progress. I didn't overdo, but pleased with what I accomplished. I want to do more today,

We had rain most of yesterday. I enjoy the rain, but would gladly trade it for snow.

Sandie - so maybe it isn't your phone problem anyway, but the phone company's. I hope they get it figured out for you.

Today after breakfast I got ready and stopped at a store to pick up a couple chocolate bars to put in a package to my Grandblessing. She turns 2 on Sunday, and of course my package will be late. I am not real good at this. The chocolate is for my DS and his wife. I had a book for my GD but I like to get my money's worth with the postage and knew I would pay the same if I went ahead and put 2 bars of chocolate in there.
Then I went to the post office, next to the store and mailed my package. Then to another store and did some shopping for things I needed to make the cakes. I got busy right away with them and finished them at 1:30. Can't believe it took so long! But then again, I did do my errands on foot. Then my kids helped me transport them to church. Then I had time to eat lunch.
Now time to take laundry off the clothes line in the attic and do some of the dreaded ironing. I will probably listen to a sermon while I iron.

Good Morning,

Yesterday morning I went to Target and got a new phone, base and all. After charging it for the required amount of time, I still can't receive calls. The same as with my old phone. I can call out, but no one can call me. I called the phone company and they said they would have an answer by seven tonight.

I am still coughing, but determined to get a few things done today. As I have said before, it isn't so much getting them done as it is just getting started.

Joy is coming by after work Tues or Wed. I am looking forward to her visit and to my preparing a real meal. I don't often have a real meal just for me. I will make plenty so she can take plates to work the next day for her and Summer.
'
I woke to a nice rain shower. Yesterday it was 68, but I think they are saying 60 today.

Have a nice Friday!

Good afternoon all,
I know it will be a lon froad ahead in dealing with this credit issue. I spent 30 min on the phone today with the bank that had the account. They were so nice and took care of a ton for me. They are part of a company that supplies credit monitoring for customers who have had their identity stolen. Even though I am technically not a customer, the account was opened in my name at thier bank and they are paying for 6 months of monitoring for me. I was told to file a police report so they could prosecute when they find out who did this.
NAN: No, the account was just opened but no money was deposited. I hope you enjoy the school experience again. I too thought of going back, but I am too busy most days to be able to attend classes. Maybe one day.
Sandie: Thank you. I am hoping I can get everything straightened out quickly. The last time all I had to do was sign some papers at my bank since the money was taken out of my account. I don't know what they did after that but I was never asked to file a police report.
Jenny: I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
Mariean: Thank you and I hope so too. I still haven't taken anything down yet. I keep saying tomorrow, but it never comes. HA, I guess I should make it tomorrow today.
I hope you ladies have a nice day. Take care and enjoy what God has given us.

Francine - That is horrible that someone is hacking your information! Hope you get things sorted out okay without a huge amount of hassle.

Nan - Hope you enjoy school. I toy with the thought now and then, but I am busy enough the way it is. I'll just keep learning things on my own.

Jenny - sorry about the loss of a friend.

I have been very productive that last few days. Got my Christmas decorations taken down and the living room looking really good. Then cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. I was also babysitting the last two days. Today I did a bunch of paperwork, but I still have lots to do. I had to take a trip to the bank that I wasn't planning on.
Okay, better finish up supper prep. We have volleyball this evening too.

In CHRIST I can!

Thinking of friends and love ones.

A friend died and we were at the vitiation last night and it was good to see old friends and but why do we wait until times like this. Bless a friend today! Tell them how much they mean to you. HUGS

Good Morning,

I finally got a new land phone. Mine has been not working for about two months. Well, I bought the wrong thing. I got a handset accessory. In other words, no base. One of these days I will go to the store and get one. I know, dumb!

Francine, that is a terrible thing. And to have it happen two times. It causes so many time consuming things you have to follow up with. I trust it all goes smoothly for you.

Nan, how special keeping a 9 mo grand baby. I am looking forward to great grands. It will be few years down he road. They are such blessings!

Francine, that is horrible! I hope you took all their money out!

I had the pleasure of keeping my 9 month old granddaughter again today. This is probably about the last time since I start back to school full time next week. I'm going to Texas A&M in San Antonio, studying to be a teacher! I am in my Junior year and loving school. You would think at 55 I would be finished already, but I had a late start GRIN. I work part time at my junior college in the Dual Credit department, and love it. I went back to work yesterday, but it's just a part time job, so I only work 19 hours a week. I hope to start walking the track during my lunch hour to help lose weight! Hopefully it will be warm enough tomorrow!!! My office is freezing!!! I sit out in an open foyer with windows floor to ceiling on two sides.... it makes for a very cold work space!!!!

I hope you ladies have a great afternoon!!!
Peace in Jesus....

Nan :)

Hello All,

Sandie: I figured when I saw the score in the morning. Boy I was disappointed. ND didn't even score before I went to bed. I love football and get over-excited sometimes. I won't be though this year as my team didn't make it to the playoffs, AGAIN.

Well, I found out today that someone opened a checking account online in my name. They had most of my information correct. I have to go to the license bureau and get a new license with a new number. I will have to find out if I have to change my SS number as this is the second time in 9 years. I don't know what to do. Nothing is safe anymore.
I have to make an appoitment for an eye exam soon. They are really starting to bother me when I am on the computer most of the day, which I have to do for work. That's why I am not on much in the evening.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning,

I am going out to one grocery store. The others didn't have much, so will just go to Publix this week. I may stop at BiLo on the way just for cube steak, 2.99. That is a good price around here and it would give me something to have on hand when one of the girls comes by after work. I like to have enough so they can take plates to work the next day. I want to leave by seven thirty, I like going early and getting it over with.

I got most of my laundry done yesterday. It was one in the afternoon before I even got started. I am usually done by then. There was one remaining load I left for this morning.

Francine, you didn't miss much from going to bed rather than enduring the ALA/ND game. I think it was the most boring championship game I ever watched. I used my remote often just to check on the score.

I am somewhat behind in everything..Last night was the first one in nearly three weeks where I slept fairly well. Still have a hacky cough, but believe I am betting better,. This stuff takes a lot out of you and lasts way too long.

Good Morning Ladies.
We had a great weekend. Spent Saturday grocery shopping then watching some NFL football. Sunday after church we went to the shopping mall nearby to get DH new work shoes and walk around. Had a wonderful time. DS was home sick the whole weekend, though. He is feeling a little better. We didn't get the tree down like I wanted to Sunday, so maybe tonight when I get home from work. I wasn't feeling well yesterday and DH worked the late shift, so I didn't do anything but watch a movie. I started watching the Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame, but couldn't stay up so wentr to bed at 9. Hope everyone has a blessed day!

I need to go out and do my shopping tonight. Will be a busy week.

We had a good service today. Four visitors - always encouraging. Then we had dinner, and then finished up the pre-marrital counselling. They left at 6pm. Since I had to dig in a cupboard for a former wedding program, I ended up organizing it a bit. I will try to finish that tomorrow. That was actually the shelf that I was dreading, and it really didn't take that long.
Tomorrow I will be working on taking the tree down. It will be nice to have the extra room and give the room a good cleaning.

Sandie - hope you feel better soon. I don't like being cold inside either.

Jenny - nice that your bread turned out so well.

Yesterday was rather long. I didn't feel good, consequently I didn't do much. I will try to make up for it today.

There were two NFL wild card games yesterday and two more today. Also some NCAAB games, and next to the last of the bowl games - Kent State vs Arkansas State.

My thermostat is still set on 67. I don't want to turn it up until absolutely necessary and not even then. When I think I am cold I go outdoors and walk around the lot then when I come it it feels rather warm. I don't mind being outdoors in the cold, but I don't like being cold indoors.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

This morning I spent time getting my Bible study for Tuesday done. Then I did my exercise and headed to church to do some "marathon" pre-marrital counselling. This couple is getting married on Friday! We have known the man for many years. It just ended up being a practical thing for them to get married. Both are strong believers. The wedding will be a small ceremony at our church. We will finish the counselling tomorrow as well as finalizing the plans.

Sandie - Oh, I didn't know they made heated throws! That sounds heavenly!

Jenny - That is great that you make the meals ahead of time with your DH.

Those grands are something else...the greatest blessing! What fun taking fown the tree with them.

I think the DR's scales weight less than mine. I knew I had gained weight, but I won't beat myself up over it. Actually I didn't gain as much as I thought I had. The reason I gained, I am very human. All I can do is forget yesterday and press forward today and try to do better.

The nurse called yesterday to tell me my B12 is low again. I had taken two rounds of injections. This time she told me to take it PO. The insurance won't pay for it either way. I order all my otc's from Puritans Pride on line.

Yesterday I managed to get a few small things done. I need to do some things over the weekend, otherwise it will seem much longer.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Here it is Friday all ready. The weekend will be a rather lazy one. I will vacuum and dust before the game Monday night. Perhaps I will work on a little organization.

I have been chilled ever since I got home yesterday. It seems colder indoors than out. I may have to get out my heated throw. I have never used it but got a feeling I will this year. I am so thankful for the heated mattress pads on the beds. I know I repeat myself in saying such, but it does make a difference without over heating the entire place to get warm.

Past time to do something constructive. There is much to do, but I am not in the "to do" mood. Therefore, I doubt it will get done. That is one advantage of being retired and living alone. I can do what I want, when I want, and even if I want. And that is about what I do.

Hi Ladies and Happy New Year! We spent the day cleaning and getting ready for DHs brother and lady friend to come. Brother had to work and they arrived about 2:15. I made a meal of bbq pulled pork, corn and roasted potatoes. We had veggies and cheese and crackers for appetizers. We had a great time as it was just the 4 of us. DS went to grandma and grandpa's house for dinner and DD and her husband went down to WV for a visit. A nice day all in all. The cold here is terrible, down in the teens and single digits over night. I can't seem to get myself warm after getting home from work any more. We had to light the fireplace last night to heat the house. I wish we had a wood burning fireplace to save on the gas, but we don't any more, it is gas.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Ladies,

My pedicure felt so good yesterday. Today I go to the DR. I go every six months. She writes my prescriptions for 12 months, so when I go in June I am going to ask her to allow me to see her once a year. She knows I only see her for my medications, so maybe she will agree. I don't want to ask her today because in 6 months I will need refills.

Mariean, the rebel in me did come out. Late New Years night I washed a small load. I needed something to wear yesterday. I found a split skirt that was just what I needed. I hadn't worn it for years, so I washed it along with a few other things. It was so late I didn't put them in the dryer until I woke in the morning.

Louisville did a real number on FLorida. A disappointing game. There are only five more bowl games. There will be plenty of NCAAB, something I enjoy watching.

I will be leaving just before eight to pick up my meds, then on to the DR. Make it a great day!

I never heard that superstition.
I'm such a rebel, I probably would have washed clothes just because!
Today we celebrated my DH's birthday. Kind of low key though since he needed to work and we had Bible study. I made brownies, per his request, and we brought them to church to share with everyone.

Good Morning, I am glad all the Holidays are past and I can get back to more normal living. It seems as I get older the more I don't care for change.

I never heard of so many superstitions until I moved south. Summer called yesterday. She told me to be sure I didn't wash any clothes yesterday. I asked her why. She said washing clothes on New Years Day is a tantamount to washing away a person, or having a person die in the upcoming year. That is one of the silliest things I have heard. I told her I don't believe in such stuff. She said she knew, but also went on to ask me not to wash clothes.

I will be at the nail place at nine for a pedicure. It is so much cheaper than going to a Podiatrist. The rest of my day needs to be filled with accomplishments.

Enjoy your day.
