That's great Jill. I start with coffee and a small breakfast where I read my Bible and then pray. Exercise is next.

Well that makes me hungry! I guess my favorite is roast beef with potatoes and carrots. ... or brisket cooked low and slow with potato salad and german coleslaw.
I love salads too, with everything on them, peppers, radishes, cucumbers, berries, etc.

When I've had a really bad day I'm more likely to cook. Being in the kitchen and creating is very calming for me. The chopping, stirring, tasting etc. allows me to review my day in a different frame of mind.

I'm more apt to go out and eat though on really crappy days. Be waited on, no dishes to clean and I choose items on the menu that I don't make at home ( well, when I cook )

Oatmeal with blueberries, cinnamon, flax meal and chia seed.

When time permits I love scrambled eggs with toast. Keeps me full for many hours. The fiber in the oatmeal though is a great way to start the day.

I LOVE peanut butter and toast but try to limit my carbs so my favorite breakfast right now is an omelette w 2 eggs, onions, tomatoes, feta cheese and thyme. YUMMY! and I'm never hungry before lunch (sometimes not even hungry til 1:30 or 2:00 in the afternoon).

I forced myself to eat a breakfast croissant before I started work this morning. Egg/Sausage/Cheese.
Yes...I admit, I felt pretty good for about 4 hours.
I also bought a pkg of 100% Whole Wheat English Muffins, jar of Honey & real Butter to nosh on while driving to work. Hopefully, it will eventually become a norm for me.
I have never, ever been a breakfast eater. It's always been hit or miss with me. (Mostly miss). :-o

Linda, you really don't want to be like me.... Lol
Not eating very much is not conducive to weight loss.
When I eat around 1,000-1,200 cal/day of healthy food choices for a reasonable amount of time, the scale shows lbs. lost. I lose inches and feel pretty good.
But I never stick to it long enough to achieve my goal weight.
I really think it's my pain Meds that cause my loss of appetite.

So.....while I'm working this weekend (as usual), what are your plans ? :-)

Not thinking about food... wish I had that problem. I seem to be always hungry, but I control it or eat raw veggies. Occasionally I succumb to baked chips or chocolate...

Here's a tip, L-Lysine helps ulcers or canker sores in your mouth. Since I started eating meat again, no problem!

Linda, so sorry you experienced ulcers in your mouth and so happy they're gone ! Whew !!
When I'm done with this current bottle of Probiotics I will try the Phillips.
Red meat is my favorite. I use to eat it A LOT ! Heh heh
My eating habits are terrible ( to say the least )...I can go an entire day without even thinking about food and just drink coffee and water (which really upsets my husband). He has made one of his missions in life to call me from work at night and ask me, "What did you eat today".
I know that my digestive issues have to do with what I eat and the fact that I eat very little. I really should take better care of my body

Could be, but if I don't take them I have problems of an unmentionable kind. I take the Phillips because they are less expensive than the one my doctor recommended...Align. $26, really? I did not take the generic because it had only one ingredient and that is found in yogurt. I don't really like yogurt and the ones I do like have too much sugar content.

PattiMCD - beef initially. Just a note, I bought a generic probiotic. Maybe if I spent more money instead of going cheap, they would have worked better??

I take probiotics and cannot live without them!

Patricia, I was vegetarian for a few months and then started getting ulcers in my mouth. So I am eating meat again, but still have vegetarian days. My body needs those amino acids provided by meats. I eat beef, chicken and fish. I am eating meat about three days a week for the evening meal only, because dh is a meat eater.

I was taking one for a while and, sorry, I didn't see any big difference. What made a difference for me was substituting some vegan meals for some meat meals during the week.

I hope you have luck with the probiotic, though!

I just started taking a probiotic about 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering how long it will take before I notice any big difference in my digestive tract
:-/
Anyone else take a probiotic supplement ?

It does take you back. I loved Nancy Drew!

I am reading Love, The Way to Victory by Kenneth Hagin and next, Deciphering End-Time Prophetic Codes by Perry Stone. Heavy stuff.

Nancy Drew emoticon I have the original hard cover collection from 1 to 64 some of them the first printing (Applewood republished them at the 75th anniversary) so original. I love to sit on the balcony and re-read these wonderful books of a time before the internet, cellphone and social media.

DH does not like the atmosphere he is subjected to at work, but likes the work he does. I had to quit due to health or I would still be working.

Question: What is on your reading list for the summer?

No, I'm not retired. Also not at all happy where I work. I planned to stay there for 6 months to a year; over 4 1/2 years now.

I believe in myself, I am a strong woman. I will reach my goals, NOTHING & NOBODY will hold me down. I will live my life with integrity and intention. I will set a good example for my daughters and my son. I will be a woman that makes my grand children proud when they look at pictures of me long after I've left this earth.

Sorry you are going through a divorce, I have been through that, Catrina.

I have been going to water aerobics or aqua fit. It was cancelled today while we were waiting in the pool. Bummer! Risk of lightning even though it is an indoor pool. I guess it is all the windows on the side ...

I'm going through a divorce so I'm taking time for myself. Going to therapy, being more active to burn stress and focusing on accepting change. Learning to be solo verses part of a couple. Cooking for one is odd and lonely. I'm focusing on new patterns and habits to keep positive.

Project this summer will be to go through closets, cabinets, drawers, garage, and attic. Need to reduce clutter and give away items no longer being used. Its time to prep the house for sale in the fall. Have a long way to go. And I plan to enjoy the time I have remaining here. I always loved this home.

I can't see myself ever being 'retired' so far as what I thought retirement meant - inactive.
Though officially retired 2 years ago, I am now able to do more of the things I have always wanted to do (and find creative resources to fund them!)

Well, you all know I am not retired! However, I find myself for the first time not going to school on the side and/or giving back. I was discussing this with a friend this weekend. I used to do a lot so I "retired" from that. I was on the board of a state organization responsible for raising money and awareness for women's rights and equity. I travelled all over the state, raised nice money and had a great time. I then was asked to be on the National Leadership group for the organization. And I was a committee member for a major NYC women's organization. I am taking a time out :)

I am back to mineral makeup. It is clean, natural and does not cake in the few lines that I have on my 63 year old face. The one I got from HSN DID cake after wearing it a few hours. It looked lovely the first couple of hours...
I am going with Bare Minerals this time. I was using DASH, but she went up in price. I can go to QVC and get a better price on Bare Minerals.

Next question: are you retired? Do you ever REALLY retire? and what are you doing?

I am retired but don't believe in retirement. I do a lot, volunteer work, graphic design, make jewelry and sell on ebay.

I don't stick with just one foundation for very long. I like experimenting with different brands/colors/textures. Currently I've been using No 7 (2 bottles, 2 different shades).
I prefer foundation that comes in a pump.

On another note.....
I finally made a decision on which Clarisonic I wanted !
I opted for the Aria. Three speeds, has a timer for each section of my face, I can use it in the shower and it sits in a holder. I also like the USB cable/charger.
My husband said , " Pattie, I'm taking you to the BX so you can get that Clarisonic you want. I'll help you pick out the best one for you ".
Soooo, it took me approx. 5 min. of looking at the selections until I chose the Aria in black (because my small clock/radio/iPhone charger that sits on my bathroom counter is black and I like things to match). :-)
I've been using it for a little over 2 weeks now and, Wow !! This thing is awesome !!! I could do a commercial for this Brand ! Hahaha
Because he took me to the BX, I paid less for it than anywhere else ($150) and no sales tax.
The brush head doesn't spin like other brands I've used and amazingly, it actually cleans better than all the others I've wasted money on.
I plan on buying my daughters one for each of their birthdays in Sept.
This is worth it's weight in gold. Seriously..... :-)

My daughter went through my closet with me a while back. I have to admit, it was a bit unsettling but [fortunately] I listened to her. I did keep a few things but found that as I lost weight, the "old" clothes did not fit like they did when I wore them back then. This showed me that even though I got back to the smaller size, my body was not the same shape as it was at the time when I wore those clothes. Weird, huh ? Anywho, the upside of "clearing out the waste of space clothing" was that I lost weight quicker ( until I plateaued ), Plus... Since I am a very good bargain hunter ( love love love a good sale ), my wardrobe is never outdated, always fresh and [ in my opinion ] nothing feels as good as being able to wear something new AND in a smaller size that did not cost me full retail price. Affordable [to me] is a relative word. It all boils down to what we choose to spend our money on. I know reading these words comes across as snotty but if you could hear me say the words, you would not doubt that is not so.
I hope I have not offended anyone, I would never intentionally do that in this group.

No, that is something I don't do. I can only afford clothes that fit. I do have older clothes that are smaller that I hope to fit into.

Sheryl, You'll get back into them !!
I hope you don't do what I did and forget you have them. Right now I don't own anything that's toooo tight but I've decided that when I do, I will try it on every couple of weeks to see how I'm doing. :-)
I bought a bathing suit last year that was a bit too tight (tags still on it) and I tried it on a couple of nights ago. It's a little loose but, it will do for our trip to Daytona this weekend.

Does anyone [besides me] buy clothes that are a size or more to small as an incentive to keep reaching toward their goal ?

A couple of years ago I found the perfect fitting, boot cut, denim pants on sale. I bought one pair that was almost to tight and another that was two sizes smaller. Earlier this year I came across the smaller pair in the back of my closet and tried them on. I did a little happy dance in front of the mirror after easily sliding them on.

My favorites meal is an interesting soup, and a wrap that's so full of veggies it's like a salad.

In the Summer I love a big salad, full of peppers, onions sun ripened tomatoes, some king of fruit pineapple, apple peach, organic lettuce until it gets too hot for it.

In the Winter....Root soup.

I haven't bought the Clarisonic ...yet. I'm probably going to get the Mia 2. It costs less which will leave me more money for another Brahmin. :-)
My favorite meal is a big, juicy, Rib Eye Steak !

Yum! Now that I am vegetarian, I like pasta prima vera. I make the sauce with canned tomatoes, onion garlic broccoli zucchini other veggies and seasonings.

I love a big old salad....with lettuce, pine nuts, cucumber, carrots, celery, peas, garbanzo beans and sometimes tofu.

with regard to the Clarisonic............. I considered buying one and then went with the much cheaper Olay face scrubber. I'm happy with that but would love to know if you bought the Clarisonic and if you like it.

Yes, it is better than a blender for drinks. My husband has a protein shake for breakfast every day and it is a breeze.
They have veggie recipes to drink, but I cannot get used to it. I have used a juicer and it removes the pulp and I like the taste better in the juicer. The juicer is too hard to clean. I am still trying to get used to the Nutribullet. I like using coconut milk better than water.

I've been thinking about getting that big Nutrabullet for about a week now. We saw it at JC Penny last weekend. It's going for [ I think ] $99
Is it as easy to clean as it looks ?

Let us know.

Does anyone use a Nutribullet? I purchased one but cannot get used to it. I still prefer my juicer. Since I spent the money I am still experimenting. We got 2 of them!

I had a ProSonic that I bought on Groupon (got a great deal) but it only lasted a little over a year. I liked it but after reading reviews on it, it received a poor rating because they don't last very long. Clarisonic comes with a 2yr warranty so that's why I'm considering one.

Does anyone own a Clarisonic ?
I can't make up my mind which one I want. I've narrowed my choice down to either the Mia2 or the Aria. Decisions, decisions.... Lol

Spring. And I like winter if it doesn't snow too much!
