Did you see the article in the paper about the group called "Summer of Dresses"? It was started by a Twin Cities woman who wanted to wear, obviously, more dresses. Anyone can take a picture of themselves in a dress and post it. Lots of inspiration here:
Two other sites inspire me: The Uniform Project:
was started by a woman who had a friend design a simple black dress that could be worn either backwards or forwards. She just changed the look each day by adding thrifted or gifted accessories. She wore it every day for a YEAR as a fundraiser--she was raising money to send kids to school in India and raised over $100,000. See all the 365 different looks she achieved here:
Now she's starting year two: what she's doing now is giving different women designers each the chance to design their own little black dress which they'll wear for a month, taking a picture every day, to raise money for their own causes:
The other really cool site I'm enjoying right now is New Dress A Day:
This is a woman who set herself the creative challenge to use her sewing machine to create a new outfit every day from dresses she found in thrift stores, spending no more than a dollar a day. She is absolutely amazing! She'll take the most HIDEOUS dresses, and by chopping the length, shortening the sleeves, taking out the shoulder pads, changing the neckline, she'll turn something awful into something fun and funky. Really fascinating and inspirational.
Not all those who wander are lost.
