for dinner last night I had pork roll 1 slice; boiled potatoes w/ light italian salad dressing; and canned corn
I WAS UNDER MY CAORIES FOR THE DAY so enjoyed a drink and some peanuts to bring me up to my calories for the day

Good morning: I have decided for the rest of the week not to eat bacon or pork roll. I think the way I did order it this week wasn't bad, with just one slice instead of the 3-4 slices they ususal give you.

WTG that is great! I love pork roll too and I limit myself and I make sure I cook it crisp-- less calories right?? LOL

One bite, one day, one pound at a time. Remember you are worth the effort!

Good evening all: Thanks for all the suggestions. This morning I order a scrambled egg, l slice of pork roll, 1 slice of swiss cheese on a hard roll. It was better than my usual 3 slices of pork roll with 3 slices of swiss cheese. I must stay away from pork roll and cheese for awhile. Weighed in a didn't lose a pound. I worked out three times last week and strength training. It must be the food.

OMG!! I've been living in Florida for 8 years now (and see another fellow Floridian here as well! Guess you just can't take the Jersey out of us!!) and have not had one of these in years! I remember stopping at the diner on the way home from drag racing in Hackettstown (Great Meadows actually) and getting taylor ham/egg/cheese sandwiches at 2 am......fond memories.....

I agree with the Thomas' English Muffin idea, it also packs some fiber to keep you filled up, and the protein from the eggs (I use Egg Beaters) helps as well, as my diet seems to be deficient in protein.

Yes, once in awhile, nice treat to have, and good luck in finding an acceptable substitute!!

My boys require just pork roll on the weekends.

But for me I make my own version of the egg sandwich: Thomas english 100 calorie muffin toasted with reduced fat cheese (170 calories), plus I microwave 0.5 cup egg whites (60 calories) and then 3 slices of turkey bacon (45 calories)for a total of 275 calories for breakfast that can be eaten in the car.

Hope this a great alternative and it is fast in the morning.

Oooh...a pork roll sandwich. I could go for one right now! I think that pork roll in moderation is okay, but they are very salty so that might be something to watch out for. I also like turkey bacon. Not sure how much better it is, but it tastes good. It's been a long time since I had "regular" bacon. And turkey bacon can be put on sandwiches too. Mmmm....

Check out this site for Pork Roll nutrition. I would think that an Occasional treat of this would be ok.

I would not have a problem working it into a 1600 calorie eating program. Like I said occasionally :)

I love it! Born and raised in Jersey. I actually spent 3 weeks in Jersey this summer and NEVER had a pork roll sandwich although I thought about it. Thought it had a LOT more calories than it does. Next time I come up I will have to have one on a hardroll, skip the cheese, just a bit of catsup and maybe an egg :)

Hey, how about the Columbus Sale Kate & Al's Tomato Pie???? Oh how I love them. Did have 2 slices 3 weeks in a row. Still lost weight, since it's the total overall calories.

Good luck with the breakfast to carry on the road.

Hello. Only New Jersey would understand. I was eating once a week a pork roll, swiss cheese with fried onions on a hard roll. I didn't have one last week because I joined SP. I was very proud of myself. I do and don't miss it. I know it is not healthy for me. I just wanted to share with other NJ folks. Anyone have any ideas for eating breakfast during the work week. I have a 45 min. commute and usually eat in the car so when I get to work I can start working instead of getting something to eat. Thanks.
