I think it partially depends on the quality of the egg. Bare in mind, chickens are fed antibiotics. Those don't just go away with cooking. Beyond 2-3 eggs/day I start to gain weight. I do best with organic, cage free, antibiotic free eggs. I don't think that the carb count is something to be worried about. These days I'm focusing not on protein but on eating enough fats, especially (as mentioned above.) the coconut oil (great for your metabolism.) and organic butter (different lipid profile than non-organic.) Not all oils are created equal, I tend to plump on corn oil, canola oil, peanut oil, and pretty much most omega 6s.

I love eggs but like most medical people, I am not a fan of mercola.

GGMOM and Russell are right! EAT YOUR EGGS BABY! My cholesterol is perfect and I eat anywhere from 2 to 6 eggs a day! (2 raw with whey protein powder) As long as you don't eat bad carbs or low fat junk...you will be fine. Might I suggest coconut oil too? My husbands cholesterol was really bad and when I took him off bad carb stuff and added fish oil, coconut oil and a few supplements it dropped massively in 3 weeks!

& before someone comments on raw eggs....mercola.com (a dr.) will support what I am about to say. Eating raw regular eggs you have a 1/30,000th chance in getting sick. Eggs that are fresh, organic and cage free have less than a minuscule risk involved with samonela(sp). I have been eating them for years and have been giving them to my daughter since she was 6 she is now 10.

These days she has a greater chance in getting samonela(sp) from spinach, meat or handling dog food!

Romans 12: 1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

A large egg has .6 grams per. Eggs are not a problem. I eat 4 Jumbo eggs. 3.2 carbs.. every day, and my cholesterol is 104.. LDL of 51. triglycerides 125.. These #'s are way daown, and my HDL is low 33, but it was 28.

Eggs are probably the greatest food on the planet. The idea that they would raise your cholesterol is a myth. It is a very complicated thing, and saying one food, or foods with cholesterol cause high cholesterol, is just people repeating stuff they heard. A doctor couldn't sit down and explain all the things you would need to do to lower your cholesterol, so they throw out.. "eat only the egg whites"..lol.. That tasted horrible, and doesn't work.

We are taking complex physical, and chemical reactions, and reducing them to simplistic ideas. If we had to understand this to be able to stick to low carb, only people with a PhD would be able to follow it.. Just enjoy your eggs.

emoticon have about 60% good cholesterol (am i right Tish) and your body makes about 80% cholesterol naturally. Reducing weight and exercising will lower cholesterol and going no sugar/sweets will lower Triglycerides. Leave Low Fat stuff alone as it usually has more sugar and salt than full fat, i believe in moderation . i eat a lot of eggs too and i have high cholesterol, been high for over 30 yrs and i don't take any med's for it either. They are worse but i don't say throw them out if you take them either.

Atkins encouraged egg consumption and recommended keeping hard boiled ones in the fridge for snacks. Fruits, including coconut, are not allowed in induction other than lime or lemon juice - 2-3tbs a day.

Eggs have less than a half gram of carb so like you I eat a lot of eggs and my cholestrol is perfect. My hubby on the other hand can only eat 1-2 eggs a week because he has high cholestrol. But it has a lot to do with genetics, not just the food itself. I'd check with your doctor and see what they say about your egg/ cholestrol routine.

First of all, it is probably not a good idea to eat "tons" of anything, including cholesterol laden eggs. Perhaps you could consider adding more egg whites to your servings of eggs and cutting back on the amount of whole eggs you consume? As far as carbs, eggs do have a carb value and should be counted.

HI. Unfortunately I don't have a knowledgeable answer to your question. Just an observation - I'm diabetic and for some reason eggs raise my blood sugar. Thinking this was strange I checked with the diabetic nutritionist who told me that some people's blood sugars are not effected while others are. Morticia have you ever encountered this?

Good luck with your induction! Carol

So here on SP, when I put eggs into my tracker, it doesn't put any carbs on. All of my Atkins books say that eggs have .4 carbs. I've been eating tons of eggs!! I haven't been counting them because everyone prior to my books said ta not ta. What do I do??

Also, is coconut ok for induction?
