well everyone has done pretty well in the jan challenge. I am working aon a new challenge for Feb. i will send out a mailing later this evening and close the Jan thread........... and replace it with the Feb one.

Im amazed that you guys are running outside in this . The roads here are not clear enough to walk well much less run. and Im really itching to get out and jog. I dont like the treadmill that much at all.

Now headed off to the gym.

Good going for the 5K!!!

I said YES to getting outside for a run - with the sun, it was a layer and a half day, so I added in some speed work. 6 miles around my neighborhood.

Saying YES to staying within the new goal calorie target range.

Said Yes to the morning treadmill run. Couldn't hit my target time for jogging. Next time!!!!

On month away form the 5K!!!

Focusing on not going over calories today...always a struggle. Exercise is the easy part for me.

Said yes to getting out on a snowy trail for 5 miles of snowshoeing. Wanted to run part of it, but the snow was too deep and crusty/heavy for that. Slow going - took around 2 hours to do just the 5 miles!

Saying YES to keeping the calories in line... even with the lowered guidelines after I entered my next goal. Eek!

Said YES to getting outside again and breaking the 6 mile run trend... time to start building distance. I used an 8.5 mile loop route from my house, but as I decided to also incorporate some tempo run intervals (whoops), I happily walked that last 1/2 mile.... :)

Saying YES to keeping the calories in line - helped by eating dinner in tonight instead of our normal "Bensi Saturday."

I said yes to getting outside and hitting the road this AM for 6 miles, finding them mostly clear though I had to stay farther off the side than normal. Two layers, but light, and with low wind, I was quite comfortable. Made a halfway stop to pick up breakfast bagel sandwiches for me and my roommate. Lovely day!

Wow, that's a lot of shoveling!!!

I said yes to doing a full (80 min) Spinervals DVD on the indoor bike trainer.

Unfortunately, I also said yes to the gigantic chocolate chip muffin just now... :) But at least I know I'll be going well over my target calories burned for the week...

14 more inches of snow - so today my cardio is going to be all about shoveling................ both my driveway and my Moms. thats alot of cardio and my back is sore already from all the last shoveling. In learning to bend my knees more and use my back less.

Good luck everyone and stay safe.

Ouch... was going to do an AM run until I saw the snow falling and fallen. Whoops. Said yes to a 45 minute strength and abs workout of my own design, for something different, and then 40 minutes/10 miles on the bike trainer.

Yesterday, said yes to getting out on the trail despite the cold and doing a 6 mile snowshoeing trek in run/walk intervals (ran about 4 miles of the total distance). With the running intervals, the cold was not a problem!

Today said YES to staying away from the snooze and getting in a 45 minute Power 90 Level 3-4 strength + abs workout before catching the train to NYC for a work luncheon. Also said yes to walking the mile to lunch in some chilly temps (brrr).

Also said yes to budgeting so that the lunch won't keep me from staying under my calorie max if I'm judicious.

Yesterday, said yes to the week's second strength & abs workout (Power 90 Level 3-4) followed by 35 minutes of biking for some cardio.
Unfortunately, I also said yes to WAAAY too many sweets and treats at an event with friends.

Today, I saw YES to finishing the entire Trial-a-palooza (paloozie-DOOZIE being a better word) 83 minute Spinervals DVD. Includes some super high HR-intensity & long intervals for a great all around workout.
*Planning* to say yes to staying in the calorie range today! So far, so good...

Said YES to finishing the entire Spinervals DVD today. Easier ride since it was a lower HR zone target than other DVDs I have, but I managed to stay in the saddle for 84 minutes (21 miles).

Said yes to gearing up, layering up, and getting outside to kick off the week. I got in 6 miles/2 hours of snowshoeing, including 45 minutes of snowshoe running (what a workout!), on a local trail that still had enough soft, powdery stuff to make for a good workout. Brunch afterward at a Cafe Hola - hot chocolate really hit the spot!

So far also saying YES to staying in the calorie range and intend to continue that trend.

Said yes to finally getting in a "strength day" before the week ended. Did about an hour total of the Level 3-4 Power 90 strength and abs workouts plus the stretching and power yoga and first round from the cardio dvd before stopping due to a cranky knee.

Have said yes so far to staying inside the calorie range, with some wiggle room for an evening treat that should still keep me under the max. I hope!

Said yes to new gloves so I can kick off the new week OUTDOORS with a snowshoe trek tomorrow (including, hopefully, a substantial amount of snowshoe running).

Jazz, don't forget I got hit with less snow out here than points east and south! I always say I hate the cold (and I do react badly, especially with my numb hands if I'm not careful - ouch), but it's amazing what turns out to be just fine with proper layering.

I said yes to walking out the door again today and got in another 6... Note, ski pants are okay for running, but NOT with temps in the high 20s! :) I'll be saving those for the real extremes (or for times I'm out but not running)!

Today I said yes to at least layering up (doubly) and getting out the door to walk or run. It turned into a 6 mile run, toasty in the double layers which also made me run slower, but it was a better workout, I told myself! :)

I agree on it being too cold to walk outside today. My daughter wanted to go to Woodbury Commons today to shop, bundled up and went, but the blowing snow was a bit more then we could stand, so did not stay too long. So I will say yes to walking on my newly uncovered treadmill, which was formerly used as a clothes rack!!!

Forgot we were supposed to be posting here daily! Since my last post on Jan 5th, I've said YES to drinking more water. I didn't exercise for a couple days due to some minor surgery, but today I got back on track with exercise, and walked 6 miles in all.

Said yes to getting in a strength workout plus a cardio/core workout and abs (Power 90 Level 1-2 trio of strength/cardio/core/abs for 65 minutes or so total).

Said yes to a reasonably portioned lunch (half a Bertolli frozen meal) instead of pizza, which I can't portion :).

Yes, it WAS cold out there, but once I got moving, it surprisingly wasn't that bad at all. Luckily, it was a day of sunshine and low wind.

I said yes to a 6.5 mile run around my neighborhood, including 3 10-minute tempo run intervals. I'm starting easy but trying to work into more formal/serious speedwork in the next 4-6 wks.

Yes to some veggies added to lunch. Yes to getting enough water.

I said yes to joining a gym yesterday! I used to go all of the time, but I lost motivation after having my son 2 years ago. I got my motivation back yesterday when I tried on pants that used to be loose on me. They are now tight :(

Sorry, Jazz. It seems so surreal to hear people still talking about mounds of snow in the streets. We have some on the sides, but the roads are clear out west. Hope you guys (or any of us!) don't get hammered again this weekend.

Tuesday, 1/4 (Yesterday) - I said YES to getting out to run around the neighborhood. 6 miles, including some speedwork, left me exhausted, but in that GOOD way.

Today... Hope I don't jinx myself by pre-announcing :), but I'm going to say YES in 30-45 min to another run around the hood. I'm SOO not a morning person, but today "needs must" as the British say. Hope to spend about an hour which should work out to 6 miles again, but easier than yesterday. :)
