1. I'm going to Stations of the Cross with my family every Friday, attending Mass every week, and reading the Word among us: daily meditations for Lent.

2. Attempting to do something nice/special for someone at least once a week.

3. Trying to be more positive about me and certain situations and people in my life.

My "1 2 3" Lenten Challenge:

1. Do my Outdoor Fitness (no matter what) minimum 4X weekly. Abstain from meat Wednesdays and Fridays. No chocolate on Fridays. No food "grazing".

2. During my (rather long) commute listen to the CD I received at Church on Ash Wednesday that includes the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and engage in and with the prayers. Attend Stations of The Cross every Lenten Friday after work. Do random acts of kindness daily. Learn to "pay it forward" and incorporate that in my life.

3. God loves me unconditionally - I must remember this always and learn to believe it. Be aware of my criticism of others and make a concerted, prayerful attempt to stop being critical. My heart is often filled with love; I must learn to fill my MIND with love...for myself and others. Each day strive to be a better human being than I was yesterday.

May God bless you all!!!

Here is my offering for Lent 2013

1. Physical: No soda pop during Lent. Since I have done this one before, I am adding another physical challenge: No salty snacks, including chips, cheese curls, and other temptations.

2. Spiritual: Definitely more challenging for me this year than in previous years. I think I will go sign up for a daily Lenten devotional and have it delivered to my email.

3. Mental/Emotional: I have a new year's resolution to be more positive and to say and record one positive thing daily about about a member of my family.

"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein."

Thanks for clarifying, CATHOLICCORGI.

Here is my offering:

Physical - having things other than chocolate for these 40+ days (in other words - no chocolate for me!)

Spiritual - getting to work in time to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at the church affiliated with my school before I get ready for the day; saying my daily Rosary before too late at night (10 pm at the latest, hoping for before 9 pm)

Emotional/Mental - not jumping to conclusions and jumping in before hearing others out. Remembering that my way is not the only way, and that I am not always right! Commenting on other drivers less.

I'm sorry for the confusion! I thought we could use this thread to focus on what we were on what we were specifically offering for Lent, then use the other thread to "expand" on what Lent was meaning to us, as we walked our challenges.
I apologise for not being more clear!

Step into the unknown with confidence! Trust that in the darkness of that first step there will either be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly!

One Physical offering: Do 10 minutes of isometric exercises to strengthen my muscles.
One Spiritual offering: Follow book "A Lenten Journey with Jesus Christ and St. Therese of Lisieux" and daily scripture reading.
One Mental/Emotional offering: Be positive.

For the 2013 Lenten Season, I want to prayerfully offer:

1. Physical: I am committing to 10 minutes of using my Wii fit each day. This is a habit I have let slide, and I can develop it again during Lent. The difference is that I am going to use this time to give Jesus the praise He so deserves! There is a rhythm to doing the Wii advanced step that lends itself to saying "Praised be Jesus!" and "Thank You, Jesus!"

2. Spiritual: A) I am committing to daily Mass once during the week, in addition to my Sunday obligation. I have made a card that I can put a sticker on to show I have attended Mass. I shall have at least 12 stickers on my card by Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. The card sits on my desk where I can see it daily.
B) I am going to say the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily for the souls in Purgatory.

3. Mental/Emotional: I am going to not "speak my mind" out loud, so that anybody can hear it... this was a suggestion from my priest, as I do tend to talk to myself, which drives my DH crazy at times. He felt it would be an offering of love for my DH and my Lord. I am also not going to complain about anything, just offer whatever is getting to me, silently, to the Lord.

My usual Lenten offerings of no meat on Fridays and fasting once during the week are nonnegotiable for me.

I am excited about the challenge, as it will push my limits and stretch me in all directions.
I ask the help of my Mother, Mary. I ask the assistance of my Guardian Angel... to kick me when necessary, and lock my lips when needed...LOL!
My my efforts and intentions be pleasing to God, and used in reparation for my and others' sins, and for the return of many souls to God!

Step into the unknown with confidence! Trust that in the darkness of that first step there will either be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly!
