I've heard meekness defined as velvet covered steel. Meekness is in no way to be confused with weakness. Jesus is our example and He was never weak. He made choices to behave in certain ways, particularly in opposition and conflict. For me, a test of meekness is being able to stand firm in what I believe is truth when that truth is attacked and still remain tender-hearted toward whoever is opposing me. It's a difficult balance sometimes to be wise as a serpent but gentle as a dove.

Keep going..this is great. Anytime scripture speaks to what we need to do..or the sin in our lives..it's hard to face and realize---but oh so good when we soul search and confess! I love it!

My Meekness survey..........................

1. How do I exhibit meekness in my daily life?

When I have the opportunity to really show my self, most times I can clamp my mouth shut...best to not say anything than something I'll regret. (of course this works about 65-70% of the time..other times I'm getting in trouble and repenting)

2. What can I do to develop a better attitude about meekness?
Realize it's true meaning to me and how I am supposed to use meekness to glorify God, allowing Him to shine forth.

3. What blocks meekness from working in my life? ME--just ME...

4. How can i make meekness function better, stronger, faster even in times of stress, frustration, and those times when I am irritable?
Remember my example, Christ...how He suffered, faced persecution, accusations, how He used every occassion for a purpose..to make a point..to glorify the Father..

My body is the temple of the Spirit of God, to be taken care of carefully, so by losing weight and getting healthy, I WILL bring HEALTH AND HEALING to my body, therefore prolonging my life."

I TOTALLY LOVED THIS POST!

Meekness was defined by Adrian Rogers as being not weakness but...

CONTROLLED STRENGTH!!!!

I love this description because, our Lord and savior was NO weakling...yet he was the supreme example of strength!

We know for sure that he didn't let his disciples get away with anything! More than one time the scriptures reveal that he rebuked his disciples and others, openly and without hesitation. He didn't beat around the bush.

He didn't just use any occasion to exercise this strength, but at appropriate times that called for it, he exercised that power.

I am the same way, Glitter.. and most everyone..when you feel attacked, done wrong unjustly, it's easy to 'flare up'. I believe that there is a time for self control for sure, but I also believe there is a time to exercise 'controlled strength'.

We can get our point across without being ugly or letting our good be evil spoken of...we can demonstrate that we are somebody in the Lord, and not to be a doormat simply because we are believers.

The bible says as Christians we are the head and not the tail. It says that we're of royal priesthood, we are children of a KING!

I believe that we should be careful to give God priority, not to lift ourselves up, but to demonstrate that through Christ, we do have power, howbeit 'controlled strength', but He has equipped us well to deal with life as Christians...even though we're still learning how to use the power he has provided.

Blessings!
Pammy

Below in my last sentence I asked you if you got meekness down. So, do you? How do you know for sure? Listed below are some questions to ask yourself. You can share your answers with the team, or you may chose not to. The important thing here is just to think about each one and conclude the correct answer about yourself, and then work to improve meekness in your life if necessary.

3. What blocks meekness from working in my life?

Our society looks down at wimps, we cheer for our super heroes, and turn away from those with less stature.

Do we feel that by being meek we are less than those who are very assertive? The beatitudes tell us that we should be meek and that we will inherit the earth by doing so.

I am not meek. You guys here of course do not know that about me, or do you? But I don't like to hurt people, or cause pain, or distress to someone. Which bible.org says is the opposite of the word meek. I used to be super shy. Now I am the most assertive person in my family, although I am the quietest among them when we are all together. My family, when we get together, let me tell you, we are loud. We all love to talk, & talking we do.

When I go out to eat I have no problem telling the wait staff my food is cold, if a bill comes in the mail and bills me for something I don't owe I call to tell them they made a mistake, if they insist I have to pay, I get a supervise to talk to me and tell him/her that a mistake was made and I am not paying for it. I have no problem with confrontation. I start out really nice, but if they disrespect me, or don't do want they should by me, In lose my self control, and tend to get nasty. Remember, buble.org says that meek means a spirit of gladness and self control. I got the gladness down, but self control. not always. So being meek, I need to watch my thoughts, words, and attitude. I began working on this about ten years ago. Since Jan.'09 I have been especially aware of this & really tried hard. Sometimes having to stop myself in mid sentence, trying to get control of myself. I believe that God wants us to be meek because it causes us to rely on him more. In all of our actions, thoughts, and words we are to be more like Jesus and less like the world.

DO YOU GOT THIS ONE DOWN? iN WHAT ARES IN YOUR LIFE DO YOU NEED TO BE MORE MEEK?

According to bible.org the meek are those who have a spirit of gladness and self control. It also means free from wanting to cause pain, injury,or distress to another person with no reason, and a patronizing behavior.
