I'm wondering if the order of the beattitudes is significant. Is it possible that we can only truly mourn with Godly sorrow once we have become poor in spirit, recognizing our moral and spiritual bankruptcy outside of God's grace?

I think that we are very much like the Isrealitise. We complain about food being cold or not cooked right at restaurants (at least I do). When we have problems (I am getting a lot better at this) God gives us so many things, but often we just crab about it for one reason or another. Serenading to God helps you to be a better person, to avoid this type of behavior.

These past 13 years of my life I have had a lot of health problems, most of you know, with my eyes. I discovered through these years that we can grow so much during chronic illness, as well as other chronic types of problems. Through struggling with the ability to see I relied on God and experienced things that I otherwise would have never known about. I got closer to God than I thought was possible, and I learned that God's peace can fill you during the most awful types of problems when you give them to him. Because my ability to do this, and with God's help, I experienced countless joyful days during the 3 years it took for my eyes to heal, God;s healing touch. I welcome sadness into my life, knowing that with each trial I become even more intimate with God. moving from glory to glory. These tearful experiences, filled with victories, allows me to share God's wonderful teaching through my life. God uses me and my trails for other people to grow closer to God.

Our mourning tells us what we really take pleasure in. There are those who sin and find pleasure in their disobedience. Even Christians go against their own new nature as they rationalize a sin or bad habit in their lives.

We may weep over our nation, or over the church, as Christ wept over Jerusalem and over His friend Lazarus. However, we, as Christians, have a nature which must mourn over our sins. We must always maintain an inner grief concerning our sins. For we then remind ourselves of our Savior's sacrifice upon the cross of Calvary. Can anyone come to praise the Lord in worship without the heart mourning for the sin which the Savior took upon Himself?

When we first come to the Father we come with the conviction that we are sinners. Mourning for our sins leads us to the Cross of Calvary and the joy of redemption and forgiveness. We do not have hearts of stone. Let that heart redeemed with the blood of Christ, cry out with tears of mourning, which surely tell of how much we owe to our Savior. Mourning prepares the heart for worship, for prayer, and for fellowship with our Father in heaven. It humbles us before our Creator who alone is our Savior.

Good question. I often think of my actions, thoughts, words did they please God did I make Him mourn for me because we are so disobedient. Just one little sin causes us to put God on the Cross again (Crucify Him) we say by what we say, do and think.

Are we any better than the Egyptians who God led out of darkness into His marvelous light and the moaned and groaned against a loving, caring God.

Ask yourself are you like that? Hhhhmmmmm

Good question Missy! emoticon

WHY DOES GOD MOURN?

Sometimes we are so concerned with our own lives we don't think much of God mourning. But of course he does. I believe God mourns every time His children cry, when a homeless person shivers in the cold, when a young child, or adult is teased, laughed at, or mentally or physically beat up. I know God mourns when we sin, when we turn away from him, when we walk,or, drive past someone in need. When do we mourn? Each time we do we are not alone - God is holding us, because he is mourning as well.

What does God mourn? Certainly not earthly death. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. What grieves Him? That is what should cause us to mourn and to seek comfort from Him. When the rich young ruler walked away from Jesus and Jesus wept, that was a mourning, I believe. When a soul is lost, that is cause for Godly mourning, I believe. When Israel is harmed and does not believe, I beleive God mourns. So many things that grieve the heart of God. I will have to ponder this a while longer. Thank you for opening the door to this line of thought, Shelly.

My EverythingOne night, Jesus asked me in a dream
"Who do You say I am?" I answered
"You are Christ the Savior, Son of the Living God."
He replied, "Yes, I am Your First, I am Your Last
I am Your Abundant Life, I am Your Head, I am Your Friend
I am Your Happiness, I am Your Water, I am Your Bread
I am Your Deliverer, I am Your Righteousness, I am Your Security
I am Your Peace and I am Your Answer."
Then Jesus asked me again, "Who do you say I am?"

And I answered,
"You are My Everything"

Hold On To JesusI kept asking out to You
"What is right, what is wrong?"
Finding true answers to all my questions
Felt like it took so long!
So much of the bad
Came along with the good.
Some of the pain hurt so much
Just didn't think that it should.
Should we crawl on our knees
Our voices screaming out in pain;
Pointing fingers who at who has hurt us
Holding grudges toward them in vain?
There are many answers
Too many questions-
But the one I know is Right;
Is to follow Him with pure love-
To hold on to Jesus tight!

Be Still . . . A letter to: Myself
This day I will be still and allow the Lord Jesus to move in my life.
I will look unto the Lord who guides and directs my life.
I will not allow anything or anybody to disturb my day.
I will have the peace of the Lord Jesus this day and every day.
I will be still, let go and let God move in my life.
I know with Jesus on my side everything's going to be alright.
Be still, walk tall and let God move in your life.
Let go and let God work whatever it is out for you.
Peace . . . . Be Still
~ Marlene ~

The Lord Is My Strength

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalms 94:18-19, 22
