Thank you for sharing the life lessons the Lord teaches you. What an inspiration. The only remedy for fear I know is love. 1 Jn 4:18-19 (MSG) There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life--fear of death, fear of judgment--is one not yet fully formed in love. We, though, are going to love--love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.

May we grow in that Agape love more and more today.

Shelly,

Through you God has guided me here to teach me this lesson about fear. Many times it is hard for me to physically do what needs to be done. Yes, it is satan telling me to give up, that it's too hard, that I can't do it. But I can do it. Through Jesus, I have the strength to do what must be done. And although there will be fear for a long time to come. I need to knock fear on it's butt and overcome it.

Thanks for the lesson. I really need it!

I asked God to spare me pain. And God said "No," suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow. And God said "No," I must grow on my own as he prunes me to make me fruitful. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. And God said "No," I will give you life that you may enjoy all things. I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. And God said, "Now you got it!"

Shelly thank you so much for this post. It got me to thinking about when Im at the boxing gym and Im sparring with an opponent. She was clearly better than me and she and I knew it. Its fear that stops us from doing what we know to do and Satan knows it. He uses us as punching bags and gets us to doubt oursevles and once we allow him to do that the fight is over.

Its an incredible thing to get in the ring and spar with an opponent and its also scary and intimidating all at the same time. As I was preparing to get into the ring to spar I was a bundle of nerves, I was excited and I was confident I thought I was ready to go. I got into the ring still feeling confident and then the bell rang for the round to start. I froze I couldn’t believe it I stood there watching my opponent come at me with fists drawn and she was ready to go. My trainer had to actually push me to get me started I was sooo scared and my trainer knew it. I started and I found myself backing up as my opponent was coming straight for me and my trainer was shouting at me to move forward, lead with your jab use the right cross. It was a 2 minute round and it felt like 2 hours. My opponent beat the crap out of me and finally the bell rang for the round to end.

I went back to my corner and my trainer look straight into my eyes and he said don’t let FEAR take control I must take control of it and put my fear into my hands and let them go to take everything he taught me and do what I knew to do. So I gathered myself together and I asked the Lord to take the fear from me and to give me the strength I needed to get through the next 2 rounds. Well the bell rang for the next round and this surge of confidence came over me because I talked to my fear and I said "Fear you have no place in my life I will not allow you to defeat me." I didn’t win that round but I did a lot better.

Third round coming up bell rings Im in this now you could not stop me I went at my opponent with the fear I had in both hands just like my trainer told me to do and and I let them go. Unfortunately for her she received the brunt of it it was so awesome I didn’t win that sparring session but I learned so much about myself that day.

Then I thought this is what we must do to fight the good fight of faith. Take everything the Lord Jesus gave us and taught us and get in the ring of life and fight Satan and all his demons. Satan knows us very well and he is counting on us to cower in the corner and not do what the Lord Jesus has called us to do. To go out into this dark wicked world of ours and fight for our Lord Jesus. To preach his wonderful and beautiful gospel so that all can have a chance to be saved. Isnt that what its all about? Isnt our lives as Christians to be all about Jesus? To tell everyone we know, everyone we come in contact with about our amazing Savior?

Then why don’t we do it? Because we allow Satan to instill fear into us just like I let my opponent do to me in my sparring session. Everyday we have a sparring session with Satan because he likes to get into our heads and tell us we cant, we are not strong enough, we don’t have the courage. Yet Jesus tells us in his word:

Romans 8:37
“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Proverbs 3:26
“For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.”

So in our sparring session of life when fear and Satan come upon us to tell us we are not good enough or the other person is better than you let us remember who we are in Christ Jesus. Let us remember that Jesus is our “Fear Fighter”. That he is in our hands, our feet, our mouths, he is what we put our trust, hope and faith in and when the bell rings for your sparring session to start let Satan know he has picked on the wrong opponent. Remind him that you are a “CHILD OF THE KING”!!!! and beat the crap out of him.

Thank you for sharing that! All I kept thinking is how wise God is to admonish us to not compare ourselves among ourselves, that we must each work out our own salvation in fear and trembling. We are meant to be good stewards of the talents and resources that have been lavished upon us, to keep them in such condition that they are ready to be used as God directs us, much like the virtins who had to keep oil for their lamps and their wicks trimmed at all times. No matter what it is that we have been given, whether skills, attitudes of heart, artistic ability, tireless energy, tireless love, lots of money, much land, it is all the Lord's and we the stewards. That puts all of us on an even playing field and our King on His throne where he belongs! Thank you again for opening this line of thought. I, too, am looking forward to reading what the others contribute! What a great body of believers here. I am so blessed!!!

Shelly,

You really made me think and I want to thank you for that. You have helped me many times. As I read your post I had many things going through my mind. I know I don't do enough and I have behaved that way, thinking that I am better than someone else in some area.

But the comment that hit me the most is "to much is given much is expected." I always viewed it for people that God has given great wealth. But that's not it at all. He gave us freedom and we abuse or don't use it at all. What an impact! What a fool I have been.

Thanks Shelly, I can't wait to read what other lessons are going to come out of this post.

I AM BETTER THAN YOU

Please read through this in it's entirety, before you make any judgements upon me. What seems to be, really isn't as it seems.

I am better than you. I know I am because I act better than you. I am prettier than you, I don't have as much weight to lose as you, and I exercise almost everyday. I am better than my neighbors because my house is bigger than theirs, and I have nicer furniture than they do. When I drive I have the best looking car on the road. I am never late arriving to work, sometimes I am even early! I got that promotion because I am smarter, friendlier, and let's face it, they just like me better!!! There are some things that I would never do, what is wrong with people anyway???? How could anyone abuse there baby, or child, rape someone, rob, or prostitute themselves? I am such a good person someone couldn't even force me to do those things.

Hopefully you were able to read through all that crap and get to this paragraph. I KNOW THAT i AM NOT ANY BETTER THAN ANYONE ON THIS EARTH! I know that when I lie, and someone else had an abortion if we both ask for forgiveness God forgives both of us. I know that when I say cruel and hurtful things to my husband, and someone else abuses a child, if we both ask for forgiveness God forgives us, AND heals us, if we let him. I know that sin is sin in God's eyes. He loves and forgives me just as he loves and forgives the person who performed the worst kind of behavior.

How can God love and forgive like this. Surly God has favor over those people who do more good than evil. We will never understand God's almighty love & forgiveness. Jesus said that it is those who are sick that need a doctor. When Jesus was alive he spent time with horrible people like tax collectors & prostitutes, and other lowly people. (in the bible it says this, I am not saying this) If anyone doubts how Jesus loves and forgives us they need to remember that Jesus spent time with people that the world rejected. When Jesus was alive there was not one person that Jesus did not forgive.

At some level, at some point in our lives we have all felt that we were better than other people. Maybe you made a cake or meal, or picture, or built a deck, better than someone else. For a brief or long amount of time you felt better than someone else. Or maybe you or your child graduated from collage, and you felt better than someone else. It may have been ten years ago, it may have happened last night. But, everyone that lives on this earth has at one time or another felt that they were better than someone else.

Now, I hope this is not getting boring to you because everything that I have written so far has been leading up to this. In Egypt and other places in the world, you can lose your life just for believing in God. Some people have lost there families, tortured, and worse, yet they continue to worship God. The risk never decreases, yet everyday people choose to believe in God . Risking their life they go to church, risking the lost of their family they pray to God. Sacrificing their health they state ,"I believe in God"

When we decided to believe in God we didn't risk out lives, when we went to church last sunday we didn't have to go in fear. Upon opening our bibles we didn't have to cover it up, or look to see if someone saw us. When we talk about God we don't have to whisper. So, why don't we go to church, read the bible, pray, talk about God? Well, I do go to church, but if I talk too much about God, my friends might think of me in a different way. What if they start treating me differently?

If we are so good, so holy, or just doing a good job with our love /spiritual walk with God, why don't we try our best at growing closer to God, doing the things we know we should do, & working on our sinful nature? People are risking their lives just to worship God. But, we feel that we are better than a child molester. We go to church you know.....but never read the bible. People are losing there families because someone saw them praying. I would never cheat on my spouse, I give to the poor you know..... Oh, no I don't pray I never know what to pray about or say to God, when I try I just end up thinking about some thing else. Come on now, isn't this how people feel, act, and live?

We have been given so much, yet we give so little. Isn't God worth more of your time than one sunday a week for an hour? We feel God's grace yet we think about God so ;little. We receive healing yet have not thanked God. We all need to get closer to God. It doesn't matter how old or young you are. It doesn't matter if you teach Sunday school, are a minister, study the bible, we all need to work at getting closer to God. He craves to be intimate with us.

The only reason I wrote this today is because I know how much we have, and have been given, compared to other places around the world. to much is given much is expected. Yes if you believe in God and in the other things we believe we will go to heaven upon God's grace. But don't you want more in life? It is so much easier to believe in God in the U.S., yet so many people don't. Would you risk you life, take a chance of being tortured, lose your family, and lose life as you knew it because you chose to believe in God?......Well, would you, would you REALLY?
