I realize that this thread originated some many months ago --- I sure hope you did not give up --- to do so would surely only cause more concerns for you to face.

I've only been on the new plan for a week and am frustrated by my lack of progress. I was a lifetime member before the new plan and thought I would have the same results this time. I am glad to hear others are having a similar experience so I will not give up. Thank you all for sharing and inspiring.

Wish my sister would take my suggestion. She went back to weight watchers before me and has been trying to lose the same 6 pounds for about 2 years now. I tell her ww has to take a doctor's note but she wants to get back to her original goal. Her original goes was 15 years ago. I tell her our bodies change and maybe hers doesn't want to get that low again. I ALWAYS take the recommendation of my doctor. She recommended that I go back to ww and I am glad I took her up on it.

New low reached 149.2 lbs on 5/6/11. Made my weight watcher goal on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.

That is a great suggestion. I did that years ago but need to check with my doctor again and see what she recommends. Congrats on staying at goal SVEDUCATOR.

I see some of you in this group get really close but can't quite get to goal. I was in the same boat and about a year and a half ago I went to my doctor and asked her what she thought was a good weight for me, she gave me the number 150 (4 pounds above ww goal for my height). I asked if she would give me this in writing, and she did. I brought it to ww and that is my goal. Even after being back in the program I have never gone below 147.5 but since my doctor gave me a note, 150 is my goal and I have been there for 11 months. So ask your doctor for his/her recommendation and if they will give you a note. WW has to take it.

i too am a ww lifetime member, but reached my goal years ago and have gained and lost the same 35-40 lbs multiple times. i have never worked so hard losing this weight, and assume that it's coming off more slowly because i am now in my 50s and the metabolism has slowed down.but, as slow as it is i've had about 20 lbs of success (about 10 before i joined sparkpeople) with the new ww and here's what i think might have helped....
1) weight and measure everything. my portions were way off at times and when i measured the cereal, leveled the tablespoon when measuring the peanut butter, and measured the milk i put in my coffee i end up with more points than i counted.
2) fruit might be free, but it has calories and that's what really counts. eat lower calorie fruits or 2 fruits max
3) while the 35 calories laughing cow cheese is the same one point as something with more calories, it's the calories that count.
4) this is the most important thing of all....don't give up. if you slip just get right back at the next meal. one pound is 3500 calories...eat more and you gain, eat less and you lose. one meal is not what added 40 pounds more to me...it's the continuous string of meals.
it's a very long, very disappointing process. and through it all, through all the sacrifices and hard work to even finally lose 20 lbs my husband, with his 15 lb weight loss is the only one who gets complimented on looking thinner.
good luck, stick to it, and remember you have plenty of support from this group.

You are right CRAZYGYMGIRL, we can't give up. I'm a life time member of WW and only one time did I get all the way down to my goal. I came within a few pounds. I'm back on and I like the Points Plus Plan, I don't think you lose as fast as the old plan but believe it is healthier.

Wishing all of us success this year!!!!

I understand totally Linda. I was on WW's for over 3 years and lost 60 lbs. but never got to my goal. At one point I was 4 lbs away, but never got there. I kind of got stuck around 146 - 150 (goal is 141). Then the Points Plus plan came out and I started gaining. After about 3 months of it and hovering around 153ish, I decided the new plan wasn't good for me and I quit. After that, lots of family issues came up, illness, deaths, etc. I wasn't on WW's and I had to drag myself to the gym or any workout. Eight months later I re-joined having gained 20 lbs. I rejoined because I heard the plan was being tweaked.

I've been back since November and so far have lost only 3.4 lbs. this is ridiculous. I'm having a really hard time getting back to my previous healthy, fit lifestyle... but I can't give up. I figure sooner or later I'll get there.

And so will you. I always knew this, but the secret... the only secret is to never give up.

Linda, you say they are so busy, weighing in... to answer questions. Most leaders are willing to stay after the meeting to answer questions. Also, if meeting are being canceled for lack of a leader why don't you ask the leader to scope out life time members to become weighers or leaders.

Linda, I know it can be so frustrating when you do everything seemingly right and don't lose weight. I agree with the others suggestions but would also agree that maybe you should drink more water and change up your exercise routine. It seems that you do a variety of activities at the gym though. It is very important that you do eat all your points each day, not necessarily the extra ones that we get but the daily allowance.

Don't give up! emoticon

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. My walks with the dog is fairly brisk. At the gym I go to spinning, aquatics, ride bike, walk treadmill or do weights.
If I could justify that i was eating the wrong foods or too much then i wouldnt' be so frustrated. I am trying to limit my carbs now later in the day, trying not to snack at night (have always kept points for a small snack) and yet i still gained this week. I'll keep plugging away for now and hope something changes.
thanks again
Linda

Don't give up....you can't get to the end of the road if you stop in the middle. You have to eat all of your points each week. My daughter was having the same problem (long time back) and her leader told her to eat some of the extra points also. She started losing again. Try making your menu a day ahead and include snacks that will keep you within your points. Stick to the written menu for the day. Make sure you drink enough water. emoticon

How about trying a new class at the gym. Maybe getting help from a trainer for a couple of times.

I can understand your frustration. I'd like to offer some suggestions. Always use all of your points. For activity, when walking your dog, walk faster. don't stroll let him do his business and then its time to walk. walk at a brisk pace. At the gym, change your routine. try weights that will change your body shape. Do not give up. You've done that before and you did not achieve your goals. keep trying. do not give up

help...I weighed in tonight and gained 0.6 lbs. Now this might not seem like much but this is a regular occurrence. A bit of background...I have been on ww a few times in past and always end up quitting thinking I can do it on my own or getting frustrated. Last year I started the 17 day diet and lost about 25 lbs but due to the low carbs it cause some problems with diverticulities so had to stop this. Decided in oct to go back to ww. First week had a great loss then the 2nd week was a smaller loss. Then I quit smoking (now 4months smoke free) but no real weight loss. I seem to maybe have one good week then either small ones or small gains. I've made sure the last few weeks that I"m tracking diligently. I stay within my points for the most part (sometimes not always eating them all and on a very rare occasion going over and using weekly points). I never regularily use my weekly points. I walk my dog usually at least 30 min per day, I work out at the gym approx 3-4 times per week (never use activity points). I have about 80lbs to lose.
My ww meetings have gotten very busy (they cancelled another evening meeting so it's really made the other meetings busy). the leader is usually weighing people in so there isnt' time to ask for help or suggestions. I did get her to look at my tracker a few weeks ago and she said it looked pretty good.
Any suggestions? Tips? I am so frustrated and don`t know what to do
Thanks
Linda
