i too am a ww lifetime member, but reached my goal years ago and have gained and lost the same 35-40 lbs multiple times. i have never worked so hard losing this weight, and assume that it's coming off more slowly because i am now in my 50s and the metabolism has slowed down.but, as slow as it is i've had about 20 lbs of success (about 10 before i joined sparkpeople) with the new ww and here's what i think might have helped....
1) weight and measure everything. my portions were way off at times and when i measured the cereal, leveled the tablespoon when measuring the peanut butter, and measured the milk i put in my coffee i end up with more points than i counted.
2) fruit might be free, but it has calories and that's what really counts. eat lower calorie fruits or 2 fruits max
3) while the 35 calories laughing cow cheese is the same one point as something with more calories, it's the calories that count.
4) this is the most important thing of all....don't give up. if you slip just get right back at the next meal. one pound is 3500 calories...eat more and you gain, eat less and you lose. one meal is not what added 40 pounds more to me...it's the continuous string of meals.
it's a very long, very disappointing process. and through it all, through all the sacrifices and hard work to even finally lose 20 lbs my husband, with his 15 lb weight loss is the only one who gets complimented on looking thinner.
good luck, stick to it, and remember you have plenty of support from this group.
